Tor: timmins, 1st, 4th, hirvonen

Sea: larsson (33%) retained

What was McCabe and lafferty. A 1, 2, and 2 rubbish players for 3 seasons at 2 mil plus lafferty so I think this is fair offence is working I wouldn’t touch them.

Leafsguy

1.) 01 Mar 2024 00:21:51
Not nearly enough for a #2 defender

To Seattle: 2024 - 1st, 2024 - 3rd, Topi Niemala, one of Voit, Hirvonen, Lisowsky, Grebyonkin

To Leafs: Adam Larsson

Reilly - Larsson
Brodie - Liljegren
Benoit - McCabe
Giordano - Timmins - Lagesson.

2.) 01 Mar 2024 02:42:26
Not even close to what it takes for Larsson if he's available with retention (imo) .

3.) 01 Mar 2024 02:57:07
Nonsense if McCabe and Lafferty cost a first a second and two nothing pieces
How does TAanev cost a first. Remember McCade had 2.5 years remaining plus Mc Chicago took back 2 million each year on McCabe contract

McCabe and Tanev are equal talents Leafs offer islanders 3 rd and Abruzzese that’s it.

4.) 01 Mar 2024 08:35:39
Like leafs trade it didn’t cost much. I, more interested what the team is next year they have 2 thinks going for them next season cap space. And young players. l think Leafs are much netter next season.

Summer target I spend on Hanfin . I think the price is 7.5 to 8.5 . This is why trading all the young players was crazy as they let us really upgrade team starting next year.

Next year

Robertson 3 years x $1.5
Knies $925k
Cowen $935k
Minton $935k
McMann 3 years x $2.0
Holmberg $800 k
Niemela $860 k
Woll $770k
Jones 2 years x $1.5
Kampf traded
Jarnkrok traded
Reaves $1.35
Domi probably walk
Bertuzzi probably walk but he is playing really well
Liljegren 3 years $2.5
Reilly $7.5
Hanifin 7 years 8.5
Brodie walks
Giordano retires
McCabe $2.0
Benoit 3 years $2.0
Lagesson 2 years $1.5
Timmins $1.1
Matthews $13.25
Nylander $11.5
Marner $10.9
Tavares $11.0

Total cost roughly $81.43

Total projected cap 88 million so leafs could add a few midrange forwards or circle back to Domi and Bertuzzi next year Leafs are much better.

5.) 01 Mar 2024 11:43:03
Hanifin signing in the US. Rather get Andersson from Calgary if u guys think Larson going to cost so much. And his cap hit is reasonable with or without retention.

6.) 01 Mar 2024 11:52:01
Think everyone is putting way too much value on Larsson. He was a 4th overall pick that was not worth protecting in the expansion draft. He’s good but not what u guys are making him out to be. Andersson all day long over Larsson.

7.) 01 Mar 2024 12:26:47
Cowan and Minten will be with Marlies.

20 Feb 2024 16:41:17
Tor: 1st, Connor timmins, steeves

Phi: Walker, laughton,

Leafsguy

1.) 21 Feb 2024 00:37:41
Don’t think you are even close on that one!
Neither Timmins nor Steeves hold any real value.5
Might be enough to get one or the other but definitely not both.

03 Feb 2024 20:11:48
Tor: Robertson, neimela 1st

CLB: jircik

Guy can’t get minutes on a jammed blue line looks rlly good and could be the solid rhd d we need. Yes he is young but I think he is close to lily right now and could be better by the end of the year.

Leafsguy

1.) 03 Feb 2024 20:35:40
Not including a first for a guy who can’t play in Columbus.

2.) 03 Feb 2024 20:55:16
I'm sure if Columbus really wanted to trade Jiricek, we wouldn't be their trade partner.
There are 30 other teams who have a much higher end prospect pool and would no doubt be able to offer a better package.

02 Feb 2024 00:46:44
Don’t know if this any merit but would love to see this guy get a chance on a winning team.

Det: seider

Tor: 1st, Robertson, minten, liligren, 3rd

Feel like this package is sufficient if not close adding neimela Cowan or another 2 should do.

Leafsguy

1.) 02 Feb 2024 11:16:49
I think he is untouchable, unless you're offering Mathews.

2.) 02 Feb 2024 12:30:49
Takeout Lilygren and add marner …. Detroit would do that. Marner wouldn’t waive though.

3.) 02 Feb 2024 12:49:06
@CKPS No, Yzerman would jot take a guy with 2 years left, making 11M, that can't put up 100 points for Seider. That's just more Leafs fan bias.

4.) 02 Feb 2024 15:43:34
Yes I I assumed in the deal that they’d have an extension for marner. He immediately becomes the Wings best player. Plus the get a first, Minten, Robertson, and a third.

21 Jan 2024 19:54:24
Tor: Robertson, timmins, Sammy, 2nd or 3rd round pick

Nsh: saros

Tor: Brodie 5th round pick, 7th round pick

Sea: borgen.

Leafsguy

1.) 21 Jan 2024 21:28:48
Like the targets not enough for either guy though.

2.) 22 Jan 2024 12:22:58
I think a Saros trade starts with Woll and a 1st.

3.) 22 Jan 2024 13:49:54
That offer didn’t get Nashville to pick up the phone. Lol. Borderline winger, 6-7 D man, goalie who’s not mentally wired to be an NHL goalie, and draft pick for Sarros?

Woll, Niemela, Minten and a 1st maybe gets that done.

Hot take: kase out for Wayne/ Clifford.

Leafsguy

1.) 13 May 2022 12:54:40
I am more worried about one of Holl's indecisions or Nylander's lack of effort costing us the game, over Kase's limited 4th line minutes.
I think Keefe comes back with the same lineup.

2.) 13 May 2022 20:02:40
This series hasn't been a Maroon/ Clifford slugfest since game one. I don't think it makes a difference.

3.) 14 May 2022 02:43:42
So my thoughts are holl out for lily, even though holl hasn't looked all that bad.

4.) 14 May 2022 16:19:32
I think Holl was inserted originally because of all the penalties being called and Holl is a solid penalty killer. Then Keefe would use mostly 5D for 5 on 5 play. Last game, they stop calling penalties, so if game 7 is back to lots of penalties called, Holl would be the better choice imo. Of course, no one knows how the refs will decide to call things.

29 Jul 2021 02:03:59
After day one here’s some targets I would like to acquire

Nick Ritchie - guy hits hard is big and plays hard from the city

Mark jankowski- similar and big as well plays c

Via trade I would target crouse, Dvorak, rakell
With kerfoot engvall or mickeyav going the other way.

Leafsguy

1.) 29 Jul 2021 03:19:20
I don't think enough is left to take on any of them unless Kerfoot is moved.

I also don't believe any team wants one year of Mikheyev or Engvall.

09 May 2021 19:42:15
Anyone else think the leafs let Freddie walk and run a Campbell Rittich tandem?

2 yrs around 1.5-2 mil.

Leafsguy

1.) 09 May 2021 20:00:07
There’s got to be a better option than Rittich.

I think a tandem is the way to go. And it seems to be the way most teams are progressing.

I don’t care who they get to play with Campbell. I just hope it’s not Andersen or Hutchinson. And at this point, you can add Rittich to the list of disappointing goalies that just can’t get the job done when playing for our team.

Belfour was the last great goalie this team had.

That was so long ago that the fact he was a drunken wife beater had no effect on the love Leafs Nation had for this man.

He could stop a puck. And that was all that mattered.

Now the goalies we employ today have impeccable reputations.

Too bad they couldn’t stop a beach ball.

This is the worst goaltending I’ve seen since Toskala, Gustafson, and the rerun of Cujo were tending net.

2.) 09 May 2021 21:30:41
Mike Smith fits the Dubas formula of building a team

Take a player past his prime but whom was once a top end player for his position and whom has yet to win a cup.

Sell this player on Stanley cup potential then get him on the cheap.

If player is from Ontario it becomes a easier sell. not much to work with in this years ufa goalie group so smith it will be.

3.) 09 May 2021 21:49:52
Mid season goaltending trades can be interesting, some goalies struggle with identity issues and a change of scenery can sometimes destroy a goalies confidence.

Will rittich he better next year? I can't say, but he wasn't this bad in Calgary, he often stole games for them. I believe in this tandem still but I would only offer him one year.

4.) 09 May 2021 22:26:21
Hey man, Dougie had his issues as well but he's still the greatest leaf ever in my opinion.

We don't talk about Eddie's drinking lol.

5.) 10 May 2021 14:21:24
There are a lot of options out their I don’t think any of the three ufa goalies we have will be back unless they can’t find a guy but I’ve been preaching on bringing a guy like reimer back he was a favourite here for a number of years and would slot in perfectly with Campbell.

15 Mar 2021 17:58:58
Looks kinda bad that we pulled the goalie with 6 min left and played better than before. Maybe we don’t need a goalie lol.

Leafsguy

1.) 16 Mar 2021 02:10:50
Same thing happened in the playoffs.

Good job Keefe for being so aggressive on the goalie pull.

2.) 16 Mar 2021 03:39:27
I've never seen a goalie put back in during play. And I grew up playing net so I watched for weird goalie stuff.

3.) 16 Mar 2021 11:45:58
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

4.) 16 Mar 2021 18:02:16
I have never seen a 6 30 goalie pull or mid play sending him back in either lol.

Keefe knew he needed to do something and what's the worst that can happen? I gave him a tonne of respect for that.

5.) 16 Mar 2021 23:33:07
The phili series years ago was something like that.

23 Feb 2021 05:20:53
Anyone else not so impressed with Reilly?

Leafsguy

1.) 23 Feb 2021 07:00:40
He and Brodie both look kind of meh. Brodie is 100% better than Barrie and Ceci but that isn't saying much.

That pairing just has nothing when forced to play against top lines instead of Holl Muzzin.

2.) 23 Feb 2021 11:59:12
I think Reilly this year is too worried about scoring goals and jumping in the rush which leads to a lot of odd man rushes.

3.) 23 Feb 2021 14:19:03
I'm fine with Rielly. He has quietly put up 16 pts. Leafs are trying to play a different style of game, so I don't think we will see Rielly look as dynamic. Needs to still clean up his game a bit, but I am not worried about him.

4.) 23 Feb 2021 16:43:21
@RLF I think it's been how he's looked in his own zone coupled with him not scoring a tonne.

I haven't thought he looked horrible either, it's been more of an expectations issue.

5.) 23 Feb 2021 19:53:09
@LL. Yea, he has to clean up his play in his own zone a bit. I think it is a side affect of the style they are trying to play. Less run and gun. More structured. It can look boring at times and when I guy does make a mistake, it seems to really pop out because the mistakes are fewer than in a run and gun system.

6.) 24 Feb 2021 06:31:18
@RLF I can agree there. He is expected to play a bit more defensively than he is used too under Keefe. The one thing I question though is; why did he have his best season under Babs then? Hainsey couldn't possibly have been better than Brodie.

7.) 24 Feb 2021 12:55:02
@LL. I think sometimes we forget that the first couple of years under Babs, he made Rielly play D first. People were screaming to "free Morgan". Babs would just say that he wants him to learn the defensive side first.
Once Babs was comfortable with Rielly defensively, he took the reigns off and Morgan had a great season. I think part of that is other teams were not as prepared for Morgan that year as they are now, and on the Leafs, Morgan was so far and above most of our D, he stood out a lot more.
Plus, the rest of the team was more immature and not all bought into the system like they are now, so they were cheating on the offensive side of the puck and Morgan flies up with them already cheating and looks more dynamic because the others were thinking offence all of the time which had Morgan having to do more all over the ice. He doesn't have to do as much now, so he doesn't like as dynamic. We were more exciting then, but didn't win as much. To me, they are just buying in more as a team to what it takes to win even it that hurts personal numbers.

He is on pace this year for a pro-rated 67pt season. His best is the 72pt season. Pts are there, they are just a lot quieter.
