If Forsberg wasn’t a UFA after this coming season I would say Nashville passes but because he is they may take it for that reason, depending on how they view their future, they do need some more youth in that lineup.

I just don't see Reilly company Ng in all that much cheaper than Hamilton, atleast 6.5. so instead we get a player for the same price but for 4 years instead of 1 if you think Reilly is that much better make them add a pick, we definitely could use them.

It’s actually a tough call. I like Schmidt, in some ways better than Reilly, especially his shot, a glaring weakness in Reilly. If Reilly doesn’t give the hometown discount I might do this. It also would depend on getting Oleksiak. Need to also take into consideration of key NHL events. Expansion draft precedes the annual junior draft which precedes Free Agent signings. Now one does have a little wiggle room because teams are allowed to talk to free agents one week in advance to signing date opening.
A lot of juggling and scenarios need to be entertained!

I think I’d pull the trigger on the trade. It answers many needs like cap space, replacement talent, backup goalie and futures.
The only UFA signing that’s realistic is Bogosian. The others are technicolor dreams!

@JdB. Disagree on Jersey having no need for Marner. They may not want him at his cap hit, but they are loaded at centre with high end young players. Marner could make them that much better as they are weakest on the wing.

6 years @ 4 million is probably what Dubas wants. I don't think it's what Hyman wants. Best case with Hyman would be an RNH deal. Problem is, they all want backloaded right now. That means no buyouts.

A 7th for rights is about all it's usually worth.
Mathews 2 A-prospects and multiple firsts.
Marner I have no idea. His value is brought down by that contract. 11 million for a guy that won the rocket and was on a 66 goal pace makes sense. Marner is making big league money though. Love it or hate it, flat cap really hurt his value. As does the term.
Tavares is another one that's a tough sell. How many teams give up a lot for a 30+ centre that makes 11? Not sure but not many.
Rielly is a 1st and 2-B prospects. At least that's my ask.
Nylander I would be asking for a lot. He is easily a 30 goal guy on the right team. He also has a great contract.
Muzzin you probably don't get much.
Brodie I want a young defenseman and a prospect.

The Galchenyuk play was brutal. Hopefully he comes out with something to prove on Saturday.
To me, we just weren't ready for puck drop and Montreal was. They played like a team that knew it was do or die, and we played like a team that just thought they were going to win even without trying that hard. Wake up call for Toronto hopefully and they play with urgency on Saturday.

Mathews looked like the mathews we all remember from his Nylander-Johnson days. Just taking games off if he feels like it. I doubt we see that again. Even not scoring he's been good this whole series.
Really need some goals from the top line though. Wee Willy and his new crew have been great.

I hope they do. Changes need to happen apparently. Marner has caught my it's this entire series. I would rather have Kerfoot as our top line wing than him at this point. He has taken several bad penalties, done absolutely nothing offensively and looked like garbage all series.

Been wondering about the Kerfoot line being split up myself. That has been the best line all series. Throw Foligno on the third line and make it an old school checking line if that's your intention but don't mess with a good thing.

I would rather Foligno play centre over Nylander as I trust him more in our own end and that is where it counts in playoff hockey. MMH is a fairly dominant line, so I would leave them together.
