Svechnikov is going nowhere. Canes are bottom of the barrel when it comes to scoring so i gurantee their not looking to move a talented young forward especially a potential superstar.

If Carolina says they are all in, then they are all the way in with this trade. I mean, Svechnikov. My god. Look out. That kid can play some pretty damn do hockey. And Slavin too. I love Slavin. I can’t believe Slavin and Svechnikov are on the team. Fantastic. I love it.

I think in order for this to happen, the Leafs would have to overpay. Whether you think this proposal has done that

Ekblad is probably the best defenseman out of the draft since Doughty. They would want Matthews or a Marner package. It just won't happen

Agreed. Simply just not going to happen. Top picks don't get traded unless they don't turn out to be their potential and the team wants to move on from them. Just look at the history of 1st overall picks.

Here is a good trade for the Leafs.
To Leafs: D Merrill, G Blackwood and 11th oa pick 2016 and 3rd rounder 2016
To New Jersey: LW Jvr.
New Jersey gets a bonified scoring power foward who's from NJ to help their weak forward lines.
Toronto gets a good defensive prospect, a great Goalie prospect and a first and third.
But what do you all think?

As a leafs fan I do this deal all day long. But I doubt it would ever get done.Get rid of the third rounder from jersey and add a 3rd maybe even a 4th to the Leafs package going to jersey. Maybe gets done I think fair value then. But I'm all for the leafs getting some lopsided trades.

That's a tough one. I'd love for this trade to happen but I think it may be a bit too much for jvr. Is be happy throwing in levio and maybe washingtons second rounder. That deal starts to fill a lot of the leafs holes. Goalie and d prospects. Puts the leafs in line to get a jost or gautier/brown type of prospect and still gives us a third to maybe snag a day or Middleton d prospect.
The value is tough to figure out. I like the deal a lot. I'd throw in one of San jose's seconds to make that deal happen. We won't have enough room under the 50 man roster at some point so adding an extra pick to get a goalie prospect I'm content doing.

That's an easy no from the Devils. Taking one of their top d prospects, their top goalie prospect, their first (which I believe is going to be Jost) and a third is way to much for a subtly rebuilding team.
That being said, JVR is from New Jersey and is the type of high value/ low price that the Devils would be looking for. I have been mulling over a Larrson + Blackwood for JVR + a minor prospect type deal

I like the idea, could simplify this and make it JVR for 11th OA and Blackwood.
JVR was a 2nd OA pick, is a proven NHL 30 goal scorer on a great contract. but only 2 more years left so seems like fair value on both sides.
NJ has Schneider for the foreseeable future so I believe they could afford to make this trade. The 11th OA pick is tough for them to give up. but JVR being a hometown boy might be enough for them to pull the trigger.
I'd love to see this happen!

I agree in saying that it might be a bit much for just JVR. However, that being said, you're definitely not too far off with this one. Maybe something like a JVR, Pitts 1st, Percy for Blackwood, 11 OA, merrill (who's an RFA), 3rd Rd pick

I agree, you aren't far off. one or two mid picks or a couple mid prospects and throw in one of our shitty goalies and this deal is done

I agree that the value is almost there. I'm a huge proponent of picking up more early third or late second round picks. I do think that Middleton and day will be nhl players. Grabbing them in the mid rounds would be huge

Being as NJ needs an upgrade at forward and given their surplus in Goal, I feel their is a good fit here! What do you think LeafNation?
