Absolutely not.

Schmaltz sucks. And trading Nylander, Gardiner, Liljegren, 2nd for 4 years of Parayko is gutting our team. Just not worth it.

Thatguy just ripped off the leafs, Schmaltz sucks, Parayko is the only decent thing we are getting back, 1 for 1 Nylander for Parayko.

Way too much from the leafs for what they're getting. For Nylander, Gardiner, Liljigren and a 2nd. We should be getting way more! For that we could acuire any top teir Dman in the league!

Well if we are ripping ourselves off badly what does the blues add? I was more in line thinking 4 years of Parayko is a good thing. SJ wins imo and the Blues get the Karlsson injection to give them some light even though Karlsson seems out of place in SJ. So what else should we be adding?

Maybe taking away is best.

Nylander to SJ
Karlsson to the Blues
Parayko to the Leafs.

Now Blues lose out. Lol. 4 years Parayko >>> 1 year Karlsson. Blues aren’t playoff team, so would definitely not be wanting Karlsson, and I doubt Karlsson would re-sign now well. Where would he play anyway? 2RHD behind the captain Pietrangelo?

Thins to look at when assessing trades: 1). Salary and contract length. Should match $$ and years as close as possible. 2). Needs analysis: do the incoming players make sense for both teams. 3). Value. Is it fair.

Value wise, all three players would be about equal if the contracts were equal. They are not. Karlsson is pending UFA, Nylander gets 8 years, and Parayko is in the middle at four.

Needs wise. SJ is pretty deep team overall. Saying they don’t need Nylander is like saying they don’t need $20 found on the ground because you already got one. And since 8 years Nylander >>>>> 1 year Karlsson, SJ happily accepts. Leafs definitely need Parayko. May be slight overpayment, but Nylander carries negativity associated with him now, so this would be an ideal trade. St. Louis is the loser on this one. 1 year Karlsson.
