1.draft Matthews
2.move kadri to the wing (not great at faceoffs/ defence anyway)
3. Sign stamkos and vasey
4. Trade tor -pit
Toronto trades- pit 1st rnd and sparks for Murray

Jvr- Matthews-brown
Kadri-stamkos-nylander
Leo-bozak -vasey
Shoshnikov-leivo-human

Defence we need to work on
Murray
Johnny B

Marner seasons one more year under hunter
I really think it's Browns coming out year next year. He's Definitely ready.

That you think Marner needs another year in junior loses all your credibility for me. He is straight up destroying kids, and setting playoff scoring records. If he could play in the AHL, I would listen to that argument, but junior has nothing left to offer him.

I'm with kadri in the wing, although I expect bozak gets moved and kadri is 3C. Stamkos won't be playing 2C either, let Matthews play awhile before thrusting him as your top C, especially since you have an elite 1C to put him behind.

I like the trade for Murray, but I wonder how much his value has gone up now that he's proved he can play well in the playoffs (Something Flaury had struggled with).

Yes I agree if stamkos signs he will be like 1a.
As for marner he is Definitely ready skill wise but still weighs no more then 160lbs. I goto knights games all the time he's tiny. We are going to be a fringe playoff team at best next year with a lot of players in the system ready to make the jump. Why not let marner get bigger and get coached by an nhl coach in Jr. That will give the leafs a chance to find out what they have in some of these AHL promotions.
If marner sticks with the club next her I won't be upset by any means but I hope he is as shifty/slippery as Kane so he doesn't get pasted to the ice and get into conky problems

Marner will play his last game in the next month or so.Marlies or Leafs next year.

Pit-Tor trade

To Pit- Pit 1st round

To Tor- M. Murray

Pit risks losing Murray in exspantion and get there late first rounder back
Rather have a goalie prospect like Murray then whoever is available that late
Go easy on me.

Murray is looking better than Fleury right now, and Zatkoff in my opinion stinks.

I guess this trade may make more sense if he starts sucking in the playoffs, but if he continues to play this way, I think he will stay.

2.) 22 Apr 2016 19:46:10
Pitt would expose Fleury in the expansion draft so they wouldn't even contemplate trading Murray at the moment. Worth a shot though.

3.) 22 Apr 2016 20:32:49
Murray won't go through expansion draft. Didn't play enough years to in the NHL. So he's safe no matter what.

4.) 22 Apr 2016 20:36:53
Never mind my comment above. It'll be his fourth year in either the AHL or NHL so he's not exempted. Thought the rule was only for the NHL. Rule states first and second year players in the NHL or AHL are allowed to be exempted.

5.) 22 Apr 2016 20:38:36
I would consider that trade if Pit adds a second.

6.) 23 Apr 2016 01:09:55
It won't be matt Murray who Pens make available for Expansion draft but more likely Fleury who will be 30 years old and no longer part of the plan as Penguins move forward.

7.) 23 Apr 2016 02:30:00
Not a bad idea, although I think our picks this year are pretty valuable to finishing filling the cupboards. Would rather give an average prospect (Levio/Leipsic/Percy etc. ) ontop of a 3rd-2nd. But maybe I'm off.

8.) 23 Apr 2016 04:37:43
All the rules for the expansion draft are not out yet. Fleury can not be trade without giving his OK. The Pens might have to automatically protect him in the expansion draft because of that is in his contract. If I was asked if I would want to go to an expantion team or stay with the team that I have played my whole career with.hmmmm. I think I would stay! Haha I'm sure the players Agents/Union will be on his side because that no movement claus is a contract. The Pens might have to trade Murry or loose him for nothing! Just some thing to think about!

9.) 23 Apr 2016 14:14:28
Agree that Pitt would probably leave Fleury unprotected and move forward with Murray, makes more sense for the organization.

10.) 23 Apr 2016 18:17:38
Forgot about those no movement clauses. does make for a very interesting expansion draft when SO MANY players would be exempt. If the NHL is serious about not having a basket case expansion team they should allow them to be exposed and/or on the protected list automatically. let's see how this drama unfolds. Good points gents

I agree, you aren't far off. one or two mid picks or a couple mid prospects and throw in one of our shitty goalies and this deal is done
finally a post that gives realistic value for JVR!
Thanks for sharing!

Interesting Calgary and columbus trade
Rather not move timashov so sub in kapenen and I would do it
honestly don't think any of the top 8 picks are getting moved but again like the imagination

I don't know why everyone wants to trade jvr for half value. Jvr isn't going anywhere, unless we get a deal we can't refuse. we need his experience and veteren presence with all these young players we're bringing up. Plus if we trade him we will be looking for a big winger with net presence for the next 5 years
I've been saying go for Murray since before he stepped into the pens lineup. He mite cost a little more now
I do agree with your draft choices.
