I think they should try and give Matthews some more scoring on his wing. I feel like it would be a low risk - high reward signing.
Try and trade JVR and Komorov and replace them with Yak and Leivo.

Maybe try stone at around 5 and yakupov on a 2way deal lol yakupov is the biggest bust since patrick Stefan. Maybe give him a 2 yr and keep him in the minors.

Yak @ 1.5 is a very low risk signing. Would like to see if Babs could turn his career around.

Stone is over rated and somebody will overpay for him. Hopefully not the Leafs. Would rather have Franson at less $.
Who do you drop out of the lineup to make room for Yak? LW-Hyman, Komarov, JVR or Martin. RW- Nylander, Brown, Marner or Kapanen/ Sosnikov.

NYI: Barzal, Dal Colle, Pulock, Kulemin, Grabovski
This will give the Leafs a solid C prospect, under performing LW prospect, a potential top 4 Dman and absorb nearly 10M in Salary for the Isles.
Isles get a stud LW, serviceable Dman, and a pick. This also frees up enough cap space for them to trade for Eberle.

The Leafs are looking at two Swedes over in Paris. Provided they are NHL ready, they may make a solid 3rd pair (can't be worse than Polak & Hunwick).
The 2nd pairing can be filled via UFA, Dermott, Nielsen, etc.

Leafs are adding two Swedish LHD's and are saturating the side (although I hear one of them also plays both sides) . So maybe a trade for a RHD is coming involving Gardiner. Maybe not.
Trouba is perfect for the #4 spot, but we also need depth of about 3 or 4 RHDmen. Trading that 1st is a clearly bad idea.
The Leafs could offer them Lindberg, or Leivo, or Bracco etc, in addition to Gardiner and that should suffice.
But giving up the 17th OA; No way! ; not when Gardiner will score more than Trouba ever will and will stay while Trouba will bolt for the East coast. Straight up is closer to a deal than adding the 1st.

Like the idea, but switch Letonein for Notme. Better numbers last year and sweetens the deal for Dallas (5.9M vs. 4.5M cap dump) . Leafs 2nd is SJS, not Sens.

Wonder what the acquisition cost would be to move up around 10 OA. I think the Leafs could really use a guy like Lilegren on the back end. If the price isn't outrageous I believe they should consider something like this.

The Leafs could do this by looking for a high drafting team (6-12th) that isn't ready to rebuild, and swapping 1st rounders offset by a year. And adding some grease.
eg:
TOR: Bracco, 2018 1st
LAK: 2017 1st (11th OA)
It gives the Leafs a chance to go after much needed Dmen this year for which there are several.
LA will try to make the playoffs again next year and maybe Bracco helps, but they more than likely need to rebuild. 2 1st's and Bracco is a good place to start.
Similarly for Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Colorado, and maybe Vancouver when they realize they have to tear it down.
Remember they are not giving up a 1st, but are exchanging it for one next year + the Bracco grease.

@Goatson, I am certainly not biased, I just think JVR is worth more than a Connor Carrick type player. According to that website Carrick may even be slightly more valuable.

I think they could do the deal without Dermott. I like building the trade around Bracco but Dermott should make the leafs this year on the third pair.
