The Faulk deal seems to have some facts wrong as I remember thinking at the time how little it took to get him since he immediately signed a 6 year deal (which had to be in place pre-trade) . Edmundson was also on an expiring contract like Faulk. Edmundson then signed in free agency to Mtl at end of season. Canes got only 1 season from him.
The deal was
To Stl
Faulk (pending UFA) and a 5th
To
Car
Edmundson (pending UFA), Bokk (recent 25th overall pick) and a 7th round pick.
Rielly for Scandella (signed for 3 more seasons), Sanford (pending UFA) and a 1st (may be better than 25th or similar) is worth more than what the Canes got for Faulk IMO. Faulk had to already agree to a contract ahead of time for them to even get that and the Canes swapped out a 5th for a 7th.
With no sign and trade in place, this is fair for Rielly and better than what Faulk returned.

I don't agree with you often, but this seems like a good deal for both teams. Maybe now that you are in Seattle and they gave you the big bucks, there is less allegiance to the Blues. lol
Blues get an elite top 4 for at least one season. Leafs get 3 cost controlled vet D for the next 3 seasons (Brodie, Muzzin, Scandella) . They can decide to put money into either Sanford or Mikheyev end of season and we are weaker on the LW (or both if price is right) . The 1st in 2023 is not dependent on a re-sign, so assuming the Blues don't regress, should be in the 20's. Leafs don't lose Rielly for nothing and get two players for what he costs now cap wise.
Both teams benefit in the end. I give credit where it is due.

The beauty thing about the Faulk trade was the hurricanes weren’t trapped with extra years of Edmondson and got a solid at the time prospect in Bokk.
Carolina got to test Edmondson out and when they went a different direction got a pick for him.
So same applies here. I assume Toronto will want to grab a nhl level dman with only 1 year left on him. They then can test him out. If he works they resign him if not they move on and might get a pick for him. Add in a recent 1st rounder by the blues and I can’t see why not the leafs might think about it.
Scandella and his extra years isn’t what I believe the leafs want especially at his price and age.
Not leafs fault if this trade isn’t cap compliant for the blues and it isn’t mine either. You suggested this trade so I’m Just stating what it might take for blues to get leafs to trade rielly.

You realize since this year is the main part of the deal each team is taking on an upcoming ufa. Thst makes tarasenko 9.5 salary owed this year a huge deal breaker. Even with your genius response Leafs gain 2 million salary in cap but an extra guy so not as bad as it appears
The bad is the 7.6 plus 1 million for 3 million in salary trade off leafs gain. Rich company or not 5.6 million is still 5.6 million.
Then Leafs can only hope tarasenko is 1. Recovered 100% from a bad injury that really hinders players from getting back to their ability before this injury and 2 happy

So I did some real recess here the other night and I first found a letter from a woman explaining her boyfriend and how to friends he hides their love because he wants everyone around him to think he’s a ladies man. Then She goes on about how he acts when they are alone. She started the whole story by panting a picture to the reader of how he looks while doing his pod cast
Well then I searched for his podcast and found it. I did some digging into his childhood. Found out this guy is a big redwings fan because his dad from Windsor was a huge wings fan.
I then listened closely for key words and phrases. Turns out this guy on the podcast types how he talks.
It finally makes sense. A lifelong wings fan during their glory runs in the mud 90s to 2010. This kid gets drafted by another team but on forums cheers for the wings. Then once he finally makes the blues he switches names and teams to write about. He is all blues baby.
His first d partner and guy to help him with ins and outs with team is Colton Parayko. There’s the new handle. The feeling bad for tarasanko after injury and fact Tarasenko sold him his condo he lived in now is why puts Russian in fronts of it.
If you dare tried to trade 2 of his closest pals Kyrou and Thomas he will hiss at you. Deep down he has a man crush on the first guy who took him under his wing.
In the summers not much is written by him as he is back in Canada training and has not as much time around computer as he does during season.
He went very silent during and after blues run and cup winning. Didn’t even brag about it much
Why? Because he can’t. Because if anyone found out a blues player goes on hockey forums and argues crap with people he’d be mocked hard
The one time he did brag it was about his hockey rubbish and skating and do on. He almost matched up perfectly to this player

Vince grew up cheering for leafs in honour of his grandfather. His dad is a cop and his hometown is Peterborough
However, outside those facts everything lined up pretty nicely.
Once a leaf fan grew annoyed after 2005 with team management so by 2008 made switch to redwings as they won the cup. Then got drafted by blues but didn’t get to team for a couple years. Then once on team switched teams to his playing team

Research don’t lie
Everything I saw pointed to Vince Dunn. Only thing that stumps me is his wiki states he cheered for the leaf as a kid due to his grandfathers influence.
However, it’s possible he switched to redwings at some point in his life as his handle in in 15-16 referenced the redwings and he was always referencing redwing trades. Then in 17-18 and beyond he made the blues so switched over. His biggest influence that first year was parayko so he developed a man crush on him as he really argued strongly about him. More passion than his site has ever seen.
He is huge into his podcast. However, only does it in st. Louis. When he is back in Ontario he changes his hobbies to get his mi d away from his st. Louis daily routines. His podcast is what keeps him indoors and out of trouble when not playing practicing having meetings and travelling.
In the summers we rarely read anything from him. 1 thing he did write that made me laugh was when he decided the 1 time to go out of character and posted he just played his first pickup game with the boys in a while. Not bad for first time out. Then he went on about his 91mph clapper. He was a fast skater but hates going backwards. Said he didn’t score but got a bunch of prime helpers. Very odd for a forum guy. Well Dunn is a great skater but skating backwards he shies away from genes why he ducks defensively. He does have a 90-93 mph shot which is on for an nhler. It probably was his first scrimmage since season ended. Heck he even said he makes slot of money for doing nothing really, well 20 hours a week to make a million bucks a year then so yeah that is true

Add to that, there is also a "Dun" horse. One form of Dun horse is the Przewalski horse, which was named after "Russian" Geographer and explorer Nikolaj Przewalski. A young male "Dun" would obviously be a colt. If it were a Przewalski, it would literally be a "Russian Colt".

With so many depth defensemen, Leafs will likely be running a rotation on the bottom three: Dermott, Lehtonen, Bogossian. Each play two out of every three games with one sitting. They can use that as internal competition and personal motivation to bounce Holl off the second line.
With virtually every single Leafs defenseman having at least one or two question marks going into this season, I think it’s a good idea to have as much depth on defense as possible. Especially with the condensed schedule. Injuries, which always happen, will be an even bigger factor, and we will need the extra bodies to fill in.
I’m excited about the Brodie signing. Even still, something seems missing from that top 4. I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s that big stay at home defensive defenseman that I (and much of Leafs Nation) seem to insist we need. A Parayko type. I was hoping Holl would turn out like that, but like Gauthier, Dubas tainted him. Now Gaithier is gone (too soft anyway), and Holl with that big body of his is just another pillow in the back end.
