Barzal contract 9.15 million till 2030 so yes Lou would do the deal for Nylander, sign & trade minimum of 5 yrs @ $ 10 million per season.
Leafs add 2 + million to their caphit this season, so whom else is going besides Nylander. Barzal has dealt with injuries the last 2 years, collectively over two seasons missed about half a season. Versatile in that he can play C or wing, based on that it is a straight up deal no 1st Rd pick going to Toronto. NYI highly likely is on Nylanders no trade list.

I would think that $9.5 should probably be entering Willie’s wheelhouse.
I am sure he knows he will not get $10 (from the Leafs) and with Aho signing for $9.75 it puts Willie Styles in the same ballpark.

To Hurricanes: Nylander, Topi Niemala
To Leafs: Pesce, Jarvis as a well balanced trade.
Hurricanes get the scoring they desperately need as Nylander on Aho’s wing has the potential for 40 - 50 goals and they get a young, RHD with 2nd pairing potential who will spend a year in the AHL which fits with Carolina’s needs as they currently have an over abundance of NHL defensemen.
With Nylander and Necas as Hurricanes #1 and #2 right wings, Jarvis would become expendable l
Leafs get an upgrade on the right side of their defense with Pesce and Jarvis (who has good upside) to slot into Willie’s right wing position on the 2nd line with Tavares and Knies.
It would allow Keefe to move Brodie back to the left side and pair him with Liljegren making Giordano the #7 defenseman.
