Matthews Robertson 2nd for Kucherov.
1.) 11 May 2026 02:36:09
Makes no sense for Toronto.
10 May 2026 21:21:51
Would anyone else do the Nurse for Reilly swap?
I’m thinking Nurse and a 2 or 3rd for Reilly.
1.) 10 May 2026 22:40:53
Nurse is useless.
2.) 10 May 2026 23:01:19
So is Reilly
3.) 10 May 2026 23:33:54
While Reilly has lost a step, he is still a much brighter hockey mind on the ice than Nurse. Nurse makes horrible mistakes time after time after time. They both have bad contracts right now but if I was given a choice of keeping Reilly or getting Nurse even with the draft pick I would keep Reilly.
4.) 10 May 2026 23:41:59
Fair enough, I was looking at Nurse bring a physical element who’d drop the gloves and has offensive skills but I understand your point.
5.) 11 May 2026 00:13:00
He fights, yes... but has a reputation of fighting at the most inappropriate times of a game.
10 May 2026 17:10:08
First shout out to RLF, sorry for highjacking your post and sorry to everyone else for misusing the platform to rant.
So here one that I think has been out there.
Toronto trade Woll to Minny for Wallsted and a 2nd.
I know Stolarz is the better trade bait, but I have a problem fundamentally with Woll and Minnesota has a number of young goalies so easy digest. Not sure if how far they get now influences this. At 23 he’s gained my
Attention.
1.) 10 May 2026 17:36:01
All good LeafsGM.
2.) 10 May 2026 18:03:15
Minny would ask
“Why are you sending me this proposal?
It makes no sense “
3.) 10 May 2026 18:59:59
If you say so.
4.) 10 May 2026 20:56:33
Explain the deal then leafsgm
Justify why Minny would consider it?
5.) 10 May 2026 21:27:27
I agree with Golftown. Would Minnesota even consider this LeafsGM? You do realize that Wallstedt is literally now the #1 goalie in Minnesota now right?
6.) 10 May 2026 22:40:38
I think they are in a similar position as us. They have an older, more experienced goalie signed to a higher cap hit who is only three years older and in his prime. Wally, on the other hand, isn’t overly experienced — 40 career games and it’s a really small sample size at this point and his contract expires at the end of next year and could be in for a raise plus they have five other goalies in there system.
So he’s kind of the more tradable out of the two and would get a bigger return out of it. Like is said how their playoffs go might dictate if this is even possible but I think Woll brings more experience is already under a good contract and is in the same ball park age wise. I don’t consider Wally a true #1 yet and he will probably be too expensive to tandem with where as Wolls salary is doable for a tandem.
7.) 10 May 2026 23:40:49
Minny doesn't have to worry about him being too expensive for another year. He isn't a RFA until then. By then they will know what situation works best for them. At that point it might be Gustafsson that wants to be moved.
Right now they have 2 goaltenders better than any of ours so it doesn't make sense for them to move anyone unless it is a mindblowing deal. Woll and a 2nd is not that big of a offer for either of those goalies.
8.) 10 May 2026 23:45:08
Ya, I was looking at this for down the road, assuming they talk extension next season, the number might be higher than they can afford, that’s all, just a hypothetical.
05 May 2026 16:18:44
So after much debate I was asked to sum up what and how I’d build this roster so here it goes be kind lol.
Tor: Pettersson
Van: Reilly Robertson 2nd and a prospect
I’d be willing to go as high as a 1st and Danford to get this done a 2center without giving up core players two seemingly bad contracts exchanged I feel Vancouver does this for their fan base hometown kid and Reilly is still a serviceable player.
Sign Raddysh his shot actually hits the net and on a pp with JT and Knies I think Steve Sullivan’s job got pretty easy.
Sign Logan Stanley for obvious reasons.
I had Robertson’s ask around Domi’s contract so money in and money out is close.
This leaves us with room to make other moves we have a goalie some picks and some money to work with and again I think this is a playoff team and a strong one without too much sacrifice.
I you guys will poo poo all over this so if you reply tell me how you’d fix the defence and obtain a 2C without overpaying or losing elite players we have.
1.) 05 May 2026 16:25:31
That still is not what I had alluded too. Many times other posters and myself included have posted what the actual lineup would be. Your 4 lines and your 6 defensemen and your 2 goalies and how you got to that point.
Sorry I am not trying to pick on you, it is just what will that lineup you want look like on opening day. Pretty simple.
2.) 05 May 2026 21:36:24
@LeafsGM, if you want us to stop ? all over it. Then stop going after soft ass players that are overpaid. Toronto fans want a tough team. You’re putting Nylander, Petterson, Laine all together. It’s gonna look like battle of the blades out there (figure skating). I’m looking for players with heart, character, drive and determination. Change the identity. We are soft as butter now, why we adding the same type of players? Not picking on you GM but we have been trying the “skilled” team for a decade and skill alone doesn’t win you a cup in this league.
Look at these playoffs when it gets hard and physical out there, for most teams it’s not their best players getting all the points. MTL has the Dach line, because Caulfield ain’t putting up no 50 goal pace anymore, it’s getting too physical for the little guy. Canes - Stank, Hall line on ?. And so on… May sound silly to some but for me rn, Personality should be almost as important if not more when picking players to go after.
3.) 05 May 2026 21:46:40
Couldn't agree more Clarky. With Carolina even Stankoven one of the smallest guys in the game. He plays fearless. His first goal the other night was incredible. Gets hammered to the ice behind the net, hops up, goes to the front of the net and those lightning hands tipped in the shot. That's the effort we want.
4.) 05 May 2026 22:05:21
I’m a Leaf and other than the Broad Street Bullies I’ve never seen a team win on toughness. Not to disagree with you and I do agree, but we also need that balance. We never had a top heavy core four and no one else. We ditched Marner with the intent of creating that balance. Imagine 3-4 years ago actually having a defence. It can’t all be tough and no skill. I’d agree that my top six isn’t going to make you shake in your boots and maybe that’s where I’ve gone wrong here.
However, getting rid of Reilly and filling a very expensive position 2 center for limited sacrifice is a good thing. A Swedish connection having the resources to add that toughness is there. And hey man there was no Laine in my posts, that’s a low blow brother lol.
5.) 05 May 2026 22:09:04
Pillow fight in the dressing room
Any post with softie from Vancouver in it is an automatic ???
6.) 05 May 2026 22:15:05
Why are we hung up on Peterson? Why would we want to get softer? We need heart and guys that don’t mind mixing it up.
7.) 05 May 2026 22:20:54
You have to win roughly two thirds of your games to get in. You need a lot of different elements and your comparing us to the Canadians; it’s their first playoff go with this team, pretty small sample. Same with the Stankoven comparison; it’s one goal and I’m not taking anything away from them or your opinion.
I think some of what you got and some of what I got would be great. So on that note, batter up, give me your lineups and how your assembling it. Let’s see what you got.
Same goes for you Suffering, I’ve replied to you too twice, but I think my lineup is too awesome for them to post it because it’s not up yet hahahaha
8.) 05 May 2026 22:23:21
Mainly to get Reilly out of here and fill an expensive position again. Guys, anytime you want to actually post your own ideas instead of chiming in on someone else’s, I’m all ears.
9.) 05 May 2026 22:24:12
I can’t believe I’m having to justify bringing in a really good player.
10.) 05 May 2026 20:49:47
I get it man was also going to suggest bring Laughton back and if we assume this SDA kid comes here it would look like this.
JT Matthews Knies
Cowan Petterson Nylander
SDA Laughton Groulx
Loretnz Domi Joshua
Raddysh Tanev
OEL Stanley
Carlo Villeneuve
Now there’s a lot of winger we could sign I’d also bring Tory back as he played well and the guys loved him. Also don’t hold the wingers to where I placed them maybe a LW end up a RW same with the D pairings but that’s the names I’d have on my roster
11.) 05 May 2026 22:52:43
We are really deep crap if you think SDA will help this team. He was mediocre on his teams in the KHL for crying out loud. Toughness, by the way, is not measured by the type of hockey the Broad Street Bullies played. The Stanley Cup was won the last two years by Florida and that was a very tough team.
12.) 05 May 2026 22:59:25
Nah just put him in there because there’s no way I fill out the bottom six right now lol but always nice of you to point out the obvious one thing lol.
13.) 05 May 2026 23:03:29
Trust me I hear you I’ve been saying and wishing we’d find a Darcy Tucker 2.0
14.) 05 May 2026 23:04:46
This is the Attitude that drives me crazy with some players who think they are entitled. This is a direct quote from SDA's agent on wanting a one way contract. "I believe Semyon is ready for the NHL. Of course, he has to be ready for the possibility of playing in the American Hockey League (again), but there is no point in going there just for that," Babaev said.
Unreal. Well here is a idea.... Don't come here for that. Stay there!!!!!
15.) 05 May 2026 23:08:02
I’ve never heard of him really to be honest.
16.) 05 May 2026 23:11:51
I’d say the same thing to Matthews. If he’s pulling that crap here, you’re under contract for two years. Here’s the ice, here’s the press box. Pick one.
17.) 06 May 2026 04:04:25
The Insiders say that Laughton has told the Kings he would like to resign and stay in California.
18.) 06 May 2026 12:58:23
I heard that about Laughton as well. Also heard that John Carlson is looking to stay on the west coast as well. So Watch Washington aim hard for Raddysh.
19.) 06 May 2026 14:41:31
Where r u guys hearing this? You guys scouts or GMS? It's hilarious how u guys just shoot out I heard this line of crap. Laughton will play the market and get the most. That's what free agency is and what it has always been.
20.) 06 May 2026 16:10:01
You need to read in the right places. As far as being a scout? No, I am not a scout. As far as being a GM? No, not a GM. As far as getting some good info so long as I don't share very sensitive info.
Well informed. Know 2 player agents extremely well. One is the agent for my Best Friends Kid. I never have and never will talk about anything they say "This is Off the Record".
04 May 2026 01:36:38
So I posted this one earlier today in response to an on going conversation with a counterpart on here. Just wanted to revisit it for everyone.
Tor: Petterson
Van: Reilly Robertson and pick and or prospect
I’d offer up our 1st from the Roy trade. A pick from Colorado might as well be a second round pick anyway.
For a closer or possible retention by Vancouver.
1.) 04 May 2026 01:23:41
Pettersson?
⚓️
2.) 04 May 2026 01:27:09
Yup him.
3.) 04 May 2026 12:26:34
That’s a trade that would never fly because both teams want to unload horrible contracts and both teams would each say “No we want more in return”. Canucks would say the package is too small for a guy who scored a hundred points. Leafs would say we want a top level prospect off your roster in case Pettersson never rebounds and we are saddled with that massive contract.
It would keep going like that. The only way a trade like that gets done is if you have a 3rd team with cap space ready to take on a chunk of Pettersson's salary. Similar to how Colorado, Carolina and Chicago did the Rantanen deal. But in that case Rantanen only had one year left. Pettersson has multiple years.
Not to mention…. Do we need another horrible defensive forward?
4.) 04 May 2026 14:27:43
Ok, but hear me out. Reilly makes 7.5. I think Robertson's ask will be somewhere around Domi’s contract, 3-3.5, so the money is kind of a wash. Mo is still a pretty good player, not exactly a dump, plus hometown maybe the only place he move to. Would I take on a crappy defensive forward to move Mo, who didn’t really have the best year on either side of the puck? Absolutely, and we need a 2c which will cost around 7 realistically. I think Pettersson just isn’t interested in playing in Vancouver and doesn’t have much support around him.
You don’t just lose talent or skill, there’s something more to it. I believe he would return to form here makes the Marner trade sting a little less. We’re not giving up elite players and won’t find a 2c without giving up assets we don’t want to. If we need a third team involved, it would have to be for Hildeby to retain. I'd rather it be Stolarz, but no one will pay 6.5 to retain 2 million for us.
5.) 04 May 2026 14:31:54
Dare I say I’d add our 1st round pick for this.
6.) 04 May 2026 15:50:58
I don’t think Vancouver gets a better offer without retaining and the Leafs won’t find a 2C without losing Cowan or Knies. This is almost a must do from my perspective.
7.) 04 May 2026 15:57:41
Well, the numbers still don’t work. On the surface, the way you describe it they do. However, you said Reilly is still a pretty good player. Well, you need to now spend money to replace his roughly 40 points a year from the back end. So now the numbers don’t match and say we don’t get a 1st this year.
Even though it’s a late first you would be giving away the only one we would have until 2029.
To sum up on Petterson, if his crappy play is because he doesn’t want to be there, then I don’t want him. If players do that they do it again elsewhere. Bad attitude is like a leopard changing its spots. Neither changes.
8.) 04 May 2026 16:13:34
Yes, he does need replacement. We have 22 million to do that, and Vancouver was a soap opera and he is surrounded by a team with little talent.
9.) 04 May 2026 16:19:19
It’s worth the gamble for me and Reilly can take his 40 points and minus 22 with him.
10.) 04 May 2026 16:59:10
Gamble away. I would rather trade Reilly straight up for a very good prospect and cap saving that to bring in a $11.6 million player that was 7 on his team in goals 2 years ago and tied for 5th in goals this year. Yes he is more of an assist guy but come on.
3 years of over 30 goals and now he is a 15 goal scorer and 50 points two years in a row. Sorry buddy. He is one player you will not convince me to take. No need to keep trying to convince me. On to the next trade suggestion.
11.) 04 May 2026 17:27:36
Yup. Keep suffering my good man
12.) 04 May 2026 17:29:07
Yup keep suffering buddy
13.) 04 May 2026 21:26:18
You must have hair like the lead singer from Flock of Seagulls lol.

So what do the Leafs do well? Very little. The media surrounding this team is why we don’t win cups. We can’t recruit top end players cause nobody wants to be here under the microscope. What we can do is fire Craig. As much as I love him, the stars on this team were way better with a run and gun style. Freedom to be creative worked.
If you can get a first for McMann or OEL then perhaps makes sense, but you still have to replace whatever you give up and it’ll cost more than keeping them. Beyond that I don’t have an issue with this team.
Nobody is up the Panthers a** about missing the playoffs because of the injuries. Well the Leafs have had the same luck. How many more games would we have won with Tanev, Nylander, both goalies not missing time? I think they need a new coach and GM, play the kids from here on in and sign a top six guy like Tuck and stop trying to find a guy to play with Morgan. Either get rid of him or sign a UFA top tier defender and move him down the line up.
To sum it up this team is fine, just players in the wrong spot, bad luck and missing a piece or two.
1.) 03 Mar 2026 23:57:43
@Lgm Although I agree Berube probably needs to go and I still liked the hiring, who can "Run N' Gun" now? They are old and slow.
2.) 04 Mar 2026 12:41:39
I pretty much agree with what you are saying as I wrote much the same including the Panthers part a little while ago. The part I am not with you on is the run and gun like LL said. It has not worked when the playoffs have rolled around. Leafs aren't the only ones who have played that style without playoff success.
Management has to make some serious decisions about the star makeup of this team. Rielly obviously needs a change of scenery and they have to decide whether Matthews and Nylander are a pair they think they can win with or does one of them (or both) need to go.
3.) 04 Mar 2026 12:50:29
@RLF, Move in from them both at this point and start rebuilding. Problem is Brad Treliving is the most boring GM in the league and has not made a significant move since he has been here. Doesn’t have the cohonas to pull it off.
4.) 04 Mar 2026 13:16:43
Clarky. Maybe he doesn't, or maybe there isn't anything on the table for anyone of significance that he wouldn't get ripped for.
I mean, if you were the GM of another team and saw how badly the stars on this team collapsed in game 5 and 7 last season, would you offer the moon for these guys?
You may say, just get what you can and start over, but if Tre does that, he will get roasted in the media and by the fans and be blamed for setting the organization back for years and years to come.
30 Oct 2024 22:30:10
So we traded Lilly for 2 6th rounders and a 5th plus 3 million in space???? I would've have taken anyone's post over this lol.
05 Jun 2024 22:47:37
Geez guys I don't know if I were to trade Marner I it's a #1 goalie or a #1 d man and a 1st 2024 for me.
Honestly if possible sign Marner for 1-2 years 9.5 million and mortified no trade and say hey look that's 3 years to show up and get it done or we are done and if you don't perform at any time the leafs can say that's it where's your list
Leafs can't afford to lose him for nothing so either take this pay cut or waive your clause for a year and move on to Calgary or Nashville for instance Leafs gain assets makes it easier for Marner to walk away from whoever acquires him for UFA
1.) 06 Jun 2024 09:07:32
Who's is giving a #1D for Mitchy? This has always been the issue. #1D are some of the most difficult things to find in all of hockey, and you want them to hand one over for a sub 100pts winger making too much, as a rental?
2.) 06 Jun 2024 11:23:51
Why can’t we afford to lose a trade? . I would love to make sense of all this. Guys the whole point is to make your own team better, with Mitch in the team and this core we can’t get past the first round. Who the F cares if we lose the trade to make our team better? If we can get some help back in a trade for Mitch. great but we could also use the cap space to get the D, G and F depth we need. Seeing people suggest to bring Mitch back infuriates me. It’s like the last 8 years never happened. The absolute worst case scenario is Mitch plays out this contract but no way in hell would I hurt this teams chances again and resign him. Is there something that Im missing here or would people rather keep this core than lose a trade and stick to the 1st round exits?
3.) 06 Jun 2024 12:59:54
Why would Marner take a pay cut and only sign for 1 or 2 years to do so? He was willing to hold out on his last deal to get his $10.9M, can't imagine he takes a 1 or 2 year deal now for even less then before.
Best thing for the Leafs to do is trade him. Doubt they get a true 1D or top goalie, but should still get a solid return and some cap space.
11 May 2026 00:42:15
I want more. Too many maybe players involved.
11 May 2026 00:40:15
Kind of an important position right? Lol ok keep Knies too.
10 May 2026 23:45:08
Ya, I was looking at this for down the road, assuming they talk extension next season, the number might be higher than they can afford, that’s all, just a hypothetical.
10 May 2026 23:41:59
Fair enough, I was looking at Nurse bring a physical element who’d drop the gloves and has offensive skills but I understand your point.
10 May 2026 23:02:59
You’ll never win with Woll!!
