Cowen isn't looking ready for the NHL yet. He's only proven he can beat teenagers, he struggled like everyone else at the world Juniors. He can definitely use some time in the AHL. I'm feeling at least 2 years to be honest.

Tavaras doesn't have 6 years in him but it's a reward and even he ends up injury last few seasons it's ok
Leafs are just entering the Stanley cup years
They need a third line at the deadline
McMann seems to be the best of the three.
Domi just doesn't bring enough offence and Robertson continues to be a mystery.

Marner can't make that much. Say what you want, but you can't have Mitch and Willy on the same team making that much as wingers. One needs to at least be 2C, which neither one can do.

6 years for an already 34 year old Tavares seems excessive, risky and unnecessary.
4 years maximum at $5 - $6 million per year should be sufficient.
If it isn’t then he doesn’t really want to be a Leaf as much as he might profess otherwise.

Ok, let's get this right.
I never said that Marner should get that kind of money.
I want them to trade him or let him walk.
I put that out there because that is the amount the little bank robber wants.
Yes he is a good player, but as LL said you can not have two wingers making 11 &13+ million a year and expect to win.
I only repeated what others have projected that Marner is asking for.
The only way he stays and makes as much or more than Matthews is if Shanahan stays on as President.
I agree that Domi is not always productive but me has grit and heart, that wins.
The best thing for Toronto would be to to trade Mariner's rights before the Draft and use his cap space to get 2 or 3 good players to help balance out the holes.

Marner wants to stay 12.5x8. He’s not worth more than mckinnon.
Knies gets bridge deal not 7x8 cause of one good stretch of play so far. 5-6x4
If they don’t want they can walk except for Knies.

They will have $30mil next season in cap space if it goes up to the minimum of $92.4. But they r saying it could go as high as $94-95mil. Jarnkrok is LTIR and wont be back this season. Domi is going nowhere. Kampf, Robertson, Timmons Holmberg and Reaves are all the expendable options. I don’t think u need to dump salaries at this point cause there is no guarantee you r signing marner. Tavares and Knies will get deals but Johnny is getting something in the range of $5-$6mil 3-4years. Knies will either get a bridge deal in the $6-7milfor 3-4year. You still have plenty of room to sign marner if the price is right. But if a deal doesn’t get done b4 free agency he walk to higher bidders that’s a guarantee.

By the way Leafs have never had two 100 point players same team same year. Closest they ever got GILMOUR ANDRECHUCK but ANDRECHUCK only ended up 99 points. But that’s close to nailing in in 92-93 season.

David it is not that I don't like the player in Marner it is the fact that he is not worth $14 million, especially more that Matthews.
The number of players and or draft picks Toronto could get through a trade of Marner or to sign through free agency is far more important to the team as a whole than one players greed!

ROBERTSON is settling in now that he has a better center man and.Bobby McMann
All of us in our lives have been under pressure and we haven't performed our best and that was Nic Robertson
But he knows where and who he is playing with it makes him more at ease
I still think he can put up 20 goals plus he has that shot that only Matthews can shoot better
Once 3 lines are going Leafs are hard to beat.

You wanted to trade Marner last year he was useless. Seems Marner has been a top 5 NHL player the last 5 yrs. But you never see tomorrow and what difference Player is at 27 or 28 compared to 23 and 24
