So with Raddysh done here is my wish list for the next coming weeks.
Trade Rielly anywhere
Trade Carlo and a pick to Philly for Tippett
Sign Lauzon, Marchment and Jenner
Draft McKenna

McKenna Mathews Knies
Tippett Tavares Nylander
Cowan Jenner Marchment
Joshua Groulx Quillan

OEL Raddysh
McCabe Tanev
Lauzon Andrae

OEL is not a top pairing Dman. He's older, and the UFA market means he may still get a decent return. They need someone else and that's where things get pricey...

With Andrae coming in and hypothetically being able to do what OEL does, that makes OEL expendable for the right price.

That 2nd pairing should be decent if they're healthy.

If they can get Coghlan on the 3rd pair to go with Andrae I could live with that...

??? - Raddysh
McCabe - Tanev
Coghlan - Andrae

2.) 19 Jun 2026 16:11:58
Reilly will be gone but I believe they will hold onto Carlo to start the season. To me Tanev is looking more and more like a Jake Muzzin situation: concussions, injuries piling up at an old age. He’s a concussion or injury away from hanging them up, which the style of game he plays can happen this season.

Carlo is the insurance if it does happen and also to bring his stock back up if he has a bounce back season if u do decide to trade him in the season.

3.) 19 Jun 2026 16:17:38
Andrae doesn’t do what OEL does frens. The guy gave u 20.30m per game and played in all situations. If that’s not a top pair d man I don’t know what is.

4.) 19 Jun 2026 16:23:20
Leafs should sign and trade for Tuch ???

5.) 19 Jun 2026 16:28:57
I’d rather target Stanley or Ferraro over Lauzon. Even Blankenburg better than Lauzon. Any of those 3 over Lauzon for third pairing.

6.) 19 Jun 2026 18:13:06
@Marner 4life, I seem to agree with your posts and comments more than anyone else here. I like that group you brought in but OEL takes Andraes spot, he starts the year as #7 until he proves otherwise. Nice post.

7.) 21 Jun 2026 03:11:09
So u think Lauzon better than Stanley or Ferraro, Clarky? Really? Way more upside than Lauzon and younger to boot.

Robertson, Liligren and 2nd to
Utah for Crouse!

Who replaces Liljegren on the right side of Leafs defense?
It appears more and more that Hakanppa’s career is over.
Trading Liljegren leaves the Leafs with only the 34 year old Tanev (35 on December 20th) on the right side of the defense.
As it is it appears that the left handed McCabe will once again be required to slide over to his off side.

2.) 29 Aug 2024 14:25:41
Philipee myers would replace liljgren 6’6 mobile righty.

3.) 30 Aug 2024 22:02:49
Myers can’t play on lousy teams.

05 Feb 2023 21:55:57
I would love to see Leafs and Chychrun on Defense and add either Barbashev or Sam Bennett to play on the second line!

Willy Nylander and Nick Ritchie to Montreal for
Josh Anderson and Ben Chiarot

Leafs get tougher to play against but Montreal gets the best player. In two years both Mathews and Willy are up for contract and they won't both be resigned.

marner4life

1.) 13 Feb 2022 19:17:10
Most of us on here wanted Josh Anderson to be in the blue and white before the Domi trade. I'm a big fan of his but, I don't like that contract, I don't think he lives up to it.

Chariot the Habs can keep.

2.) 13 Feb 2022 20:31:54
We have absolutely 0 need for chiarot. Why has no one grasped this ultra simple concept.

3.) 13 Feb 2022 22:29:27
I do like Anderson though!

4.) 14 Feb 2022 09:20:55
I don’t hate this deal I like Anderson wish the leafs grabbed him we get to dump Ritchie but for me to make this deal I’d want retention on Chiarot so the leafs could add a better blue liner and have him in the third pair.

5.) 14 Feb 2022 11:48:32
Chiarot is having a bad year but he has his place come playoff time. Holl looks so lost out there he makes Martin Maricin look good. Also Chiarot is a UFA after this year. He's from the GTA area so he may resign cheap in Toronto.

6.) 14 Feb 2022 13:08:54
I really like this deal. If you can get the Habs to also retain a bit on Chiarot, I think it could work out to be a really good deal for the Leafs. When Chiarot has been used properly, he is an effective big man. He is a 2nd pair D at best though and Montreal has been using him on the top pair. In Toronto he is going to be a possible 3rd pair guy and he should be fine there. Anderson makes $1.5M less than Willy and brings that element that Willy doesn't, but can still chip in 20 goal seasons with high end players imo. Ritchie gets moved off the books foe next season and add the $1.5M less that Anderson makes and the Leafs have $4M more in cap space next season if they let Chiarot walk.
Solid deal that both teams should consider.

7.) 14 Feb 2022 13:14:20
@marner4life Chiarot is having a bad year this year but his stats show he hasn’t been good for atleast two years including their cup run.

8.) 14 Feb 2022 14:22:02
I know it is likely just my opinion, but I don't think Chiarot is as bad as many make him out to be. He is not a 1st pair D-man and the Habs have tried to make him into one, so of course he doesn't look very good. It would be like the Leafs using Holl as a 1st pair D. The Jets used him properly and he was an effective big guy on the 3rd pair or as a complimentary #4. Not great, but effective. Put him in a position to succeed and he probably looks much better. Stats only have value if you take into account the context in which they were created. Stop sheltering Liljegren and put him on the top pair against the toughest matchups and people will be screaming to get rid of him.

9.) 14 Feb 2022 14:58:43
So giving this deal some more thought and think it makes a lot of sense.

But only if Chariot’s left ankle is okay and he agrees to an extension at no more than his current salary.

Nylander will want more money in two years and Anderson had 4 more years I believe. Anderson, while not the scorer Nylander is, has enough positive attributes to replace Nylander. We certainly like his physicality and makes the Leafs more difficult to play against.

Chariot is not the only Hab to be playing poorly and honestly I haven’t seen enough of him to say this is a correct statement.

I do remember last year’s playoff where he was very strong if not dominant clearly the front of the net and causing forwards to enter the corners a little slower.

Instead of retention get a pick. Habs are getting the best player and would prefer giving up a puck to retention because they have cap issues.

10.) 14 Feb 2022 15:57:10
Montreal doesn't have cap issues if they use their LTIR and they will also move any pending UFA they can for picks/ prospects to open up cap space.

14 Jan 2022 22:36:22
NYR Trade R Strome, Braden Schneider and 2022 1st round pick
Toronto Trades M.Marner and Justin Holl

2nd trade
Arizona trades Lawson Crouse and Jakob Chychrun
Toronto trades 2022 1st, NYR 2022 1ST
Travis Dermott, Ilya Mikheyev, Petr Mrazek

This helps Leafs with cap and brings in some decent players!

marner4life

1.) 15 Jan 2022 11:48:52
Need to add to the Marner package. At least another high end prospect or pick. He's an elite player, they usually fetch 2 1st round picks ++.

2.) 15 Jan 2022 12:13:36
Marners $10.9mil is the reason i didn't add more. I think we won't get max value with that contract he has.

3.) 15 Jan 2022 12:52:36
Would LOVE to see the lines that you were thinking with this trade.

So does anyone else see the problem with Pelley coming out and saying that all the Leafs need is a retool around Mathews and Nylander? It looks like who ever he hires they will run it back with the same heartless bunch who hasn’t won a thing in the last 10 years. Change up a couple third and fourth liners and expect a different result. The firing of Treleving at this time of the year after talks of an extension not two months ago has me thinking.

Maybe Treleving wanted to blow this team up and trade Mathews and or Nylander but was told no by Pelley. MLSE has to stay the hell out of the hockey operations and let the GM and or head of hockey operations decide what to do. I think that we will know by the GM they hire, if they are going to quietly rule the team and limit what the GM can and can’t do then they will have a hard time hiring a GM with any experience as nobody will want to take the job!

marner4life

1.) 01 Apr 2026 21:09:19
No, not really. Do you think he is going to tip his hand to the players or the media or the public? He has to say to the public the ship is not sinking, even though the life boats have been launching and the SOS has been sent. Can't panic the passengers (fans). Or to play devil's advocate...

What if Pelley did say to blow it up and Treliving said "No, I can get it back on track." That also could have been the scenario. No need with putting speculation into it. We don't know what went on behind closed doors and it is not good to hypothesize.

Treliving is gone and it's time to move on. Let's see who they pick to change the chaotic situation, then we can judge the upper management figures. It is not in their best interests to have a stagnant team. It is easy to say MLSE has to stay out of hockey operations but... they do own the team. If it keeps getting screwed up then again... people will get replaced. Same as any other business model that doesn't work.

2.) 02 Apr 2026 12:54:14
Since it's Pelley who said they already have the foundational pieces, it is more likely that Tre would have said to blow it up and Pelley said no, than the other way around happening.
I know this won't be popular, but I think firing Tre was bad for the Leafs if the new GM is just going to be a puppet for Pelley and a continuation of Dubas and Shanny's plan is what we can expect moving forward.

I think under Tre, big changes were coming this summer. He even said he will be having those conversations after the season ends. Then, he gets fired. Pelley comes in and says the pieces are here to build around.
I am not too optimistic at the moment, that other than maybe Mo, that any real change is gping to happen.

3.) 02 Apr 2026 18:31:02
I don't think anything changed. Ownership has zero interest in a rebuild as non hockey people. They want gate revenue from playoffs as it is the most lucrative time.

Pelley is there to make money and that's literally it. He has zero interest in hockey or knowledge about it. I know everyone keeps blaming Pelley, but I really don't see it the same way. I think he looked at Tre and thought "He probably wants to change everything and that's a risk. Let's not".

For the next years the Leafs will do absolutely nothing risky, then rebuild if it is mandatory.

4.) 03 Apr 2026 00:49:43
LL. I don't disagree that ownership wants gate revenue, but the deeper they go in the playoffs, the more revenue, so winning as much as possible makes the most money.
To me, Pelley was hired as the guy they thought would get them the farthest and therefore make the most money.

He was a president of golf, a completely individual sport where the most talented typically do well. He probably thinks hockey works the same way. Leafs have been there and done that and it didn't work.
That's why his comments that resemble the Dubas/Shanny era makes sense imo.

5.) 03 Apr 2026 04:50:16
Pelley is clueless when it comes to hockey
The Leafs will be non factors for the next decade with him at the helm

Watching Bruins vs Flyers tonight and seeing Minton and Grebenkov light it up I sure hope Treleving gets fired before he trades anymore of our prospects away !

Was thinking Leafs could pickup Chara cheap as a number 6 dman. He's slow but still hits, fights and blocks shots. Pair him with Sandin. Sandin can make plays and Chara can cleanup the mess!

marner4life

1.) 17 Feb 2022 11:50:43
Unlike the 70’s there are very few fights in the playoffs.
You don’t mention how you obtain Chara.

Domi’s career could be over. He may never play again. We aren’t getting Werenski now. He would of and should of traded Rielly already if he thought he could for sure get Werenski. Paid way to much for Bob!
Can’t wait to see Tkachuk brothers and Gudas run over and injure McKenna and Cowan because the Leafs have no players to stand up to them ffs!

Rielly has to go. He has had 25 different partners over the years and it’s always their fault never his. No, he’s the problem and needs to go!
