1.) 26 Apr 2026 19:32:47
I’d be good with just dumping salary and signing those guys.
2.) 26 Apr 2026 22:52:18
Who's Salary in Particular and signing which guys specific guys? There are a lot of names in that post.
3.) 28 Apr 2026 00:20:35
Tuch is from the Buffalo area and will almost certainly resign with the Sabres.
A big No to Roslovic, Trouba and Soucy.
No more signing 30+ years old players who want 3, 4 & 5 year contracts.
4.) 28 Apr 2026 14:24:53
The problem of not signing 30-plus UFAs is.... There is only a handful of UFAs under that age and the majority of them are turning 30 within the year. Just the reality of the way guys do their bridge contracts to max out their last major signing of their careers. The few years under 30 guys are guys their teams will do everything to re-sign if they are elite.
And there really is only one of those this year. Cale Makar. All the others are pretty much 4th line guys in the low salary range. Even two of the top UFAs everyone talks about Rasmus Andersson and Alex Tuch turn 30 this year. So options are limited for age signings.
22 Apr 2026 19:23:07
Matthews Robertson to Penguins.
Kindel McGroarty Pickering 2 2nds 2026
2 2nds 2027. To Leafs
1.) 22 Apr 2026 20:53:35
Nope I’m not willing to trade Matthews for anything.
2.) 22 Apr 2026 22:21:26
For anything? Really? Not saying this is a good trade but he is untouchable at all.
3.) 22 Apr 2026 23:07:02
No one is untouchable but this trade is a joke.
4.) 22 Apr 2026 23:08:57
Absolutely he is
5.) 22 Apr 2026 23:12:10
I meant he is not untouchable.
6.) 22 Apr 2026 23:15:11
I’ll expand on that he's set to break every franchise record of the most historic franchise if he’s playing for a couch that isn’t trying to change or dictate how he plays incorrectly. So who on earth other that McDavid and using the word maybe or hopefully can you replace him with, and why on earth would you gamble to find out?
7.) 22 Apr 2026 23:39:22
LeafsGM78, you are looking at who he was and not what he is. Here is a for instance. There are a lot of players even younger than McDavid or McKinnon or Kucherov or the like that if he was offered to them they would not give up a player straight up for him. Think San Jose would trade Celebrini straight up? Think Islanders would trade Schaefer straight up.
Those players completely change the complexion of a team single-handedly. They didn't have John Tavares in his prime or Mitch Marner and William Nylander as support. Matthews can be replaced with a ton of players with a 1st round pick added. I won't go into them all but there are a lot.
8.) 23 Apr 2026 00:00:55
There comes a time when if you are a fan of your team and a fan of a player. We sometimes have to take them off a pedestal and do what is best for your team. There is no reason you can’t cheer for that player to still play well elsewhere.
We can get sentimental and not do a thing this year and we will all be here next year talking about trading the same players and missing the playoffs again and again. We can’t let their value keep shrinking until we have hardly anyone of value.
9.) 23 Apr 2026 00:13:35
Gee thanks, dad. August 9th, 1988, the day I became a Leaf fan after moving back to Ontario from Edmonton and I cheered for a player and not the team he played for. Sometimes you just have to realize you short side and ungrateful for what you have. You can’t just trade in your perfect wife for a younger model. lol.
10.) 23 Apr 2026 00:14:29
Oh and Matthews did change the complete complexity of this franchise.
11.) 23 Apr 2026 00:16:00
We can keep blaming superstars for the rest of the team being less than adequate.
12.) 23 Apr 2026 00:42:42
So he changed it all by himself.
The day he arrived?
13.) 23 Apr 2026 01:41:02
Nope. Bit 70 goals and a Hart Trophy is a good start oh and a playoff team for ten years. Pretty damn good in my opinion but you’re right go Sharks and Islanders.
14.) 23 Apr 2026 02:09:32
Not sure what you’re trying to say non of those players have done what he has or will do the coach limited his production along with injuries that I’m sure he has recovered from. Gretzky had Kurri Lemieux had Jagr and Francis Hull had Oates so as far as I’m concerned every single elite player ever had a supporting cast. Anyway my opinion you’re an idiot if you think trading Matthews and or Nylander pushes the team further. This is why I hate being a Leaf fan I lived through Harold Ballard not spending money on decent players lived through a team that almost did it with Gilmore and company.
Now we had a team that made the playoffs for a decade and we boot one of the league’s best out while threatening his family apparently and are ready to blow it up why? Cause they haven’t won a cup guess what it’s hard to do so why not say hey this team is damn good Matthews and Nylander or Marner were never the issue the leafs have had a crap defence for a decade and counting but yet these three are the problem…come on
15.) 23 Apr 2026 01:42:25
Washington should’ve gotten rid of Ovy too right for a first round maybe.
16.) 23 Apr 2026 12:26:16
Well I have been called a lot of thinks in my life but have never been called an idiot. Honestly. You think you are the only fan that had watched the Leafs constantly not get to the top? We are in an era of No trade contracts, UFAs that hem and haw in their last two years if they will extend or not. Then if it gets to the last year and they have to be moved Teams are in a bind because other teams know they can offer a lot less. I get you are a huge fan if his and frustrated with the performance of the team.
In your eyes you might think of me and call me an idiot but if we need to rebuild I don’t want to be the future New York Rangers trading Panarin for Greentree. I think the vast majority of people on here all have different views on how to improve the team and while we might disagree or sometimes make fun of them (as I as guilty if that as well) we don’t need to call them idiots or other similar nouns.
17.) 23 Apr 2026 18:32:35
Sorry for calling you an idiot. We aren’t rebuilding. That’s my point, plan and simple. Matthews and Nylander aren’t the problem, so why try to make them the solution?
18.) 23 Apr 2026 22:53:03
I accept the apology. My point is that its hard to get people to agree on the path. Some don't like me because I analyse and find holes in the salary cap for other teams and for us. But it is a reality to look at. Others get upset because the differential between a retool and a rebuild is a very fine line. For instance you are saying we are not rebuilding so don't trade Matthews and Nylander. However your one trade has Knies and Reilly goint to Chicago for a 1st round pick. That is kind of a rebuild not a retool trade.
I don't hate Knies as some people think I do. I just see him as a potential asset that has no restrictions to improve the team in a trade for other proven players that might improve the team. My concern with that trade is everyone assumes that McKenna is going to be the saviour of any team. But what if he is Alexander Daigle, or Naill Yakupov or Brian Lawton and he isn't the saviour and Knies keeps thriving in Chicago? No matter how sure fire every player is thought to be in the draft there always is that risk.
19 Apr 2026 17:45:16

1.) 19 Apr 2026 17:06:27
Leafs get screwed in both trades.
2.) 19 Apr 2026 17:58:18
Not near enough in return. Prospects are great but they aren’t a guarantee!
19 Apr 2026 00:27:57
Robertson will go to Penguins and become a 30 goal scorer.
1.) 19 Apr 2026 02:26:39
Not likely, he'll be used as a sweetener on a trade.
18 Apr 2026 19:48:15
How anyone believes that a bottom five finish requires a retool and not a rebuild is the definition of insanity.
Holinka Danford Cowan Knies are blocks.
Woll Hildeby Akhtyamov are fine for the net.
Matthews Rielly to Ducks.
McTavish Luneau Colangelo McQueen.
2nd 2026 2nd 2027 to Leafs.
Nylander to Hawks.
1st 2026 Hawks pick to Leafs.
Draft.
With Leafs pick in top five.
Drafting Malhotra and Reid with the Hawks pick and Leafs own pick.
Still have trash like Domi Joshua Lorentz.
Mercy sell off for 4th rd picks in return will suffice.
Stolarz is untradeable?
Maybe someone will take him with Moldenhauer as a sweetener.
1.) 18 Apr 2026 22:36:36
Shaking my head. I have no words.
2.) 18 Apr 2026 23:25:48
Still suffering?
You replied to the Seth Jones trade … He’s still in
Chicago?
3.) 18 Apr 2026 23:07:25
You’re insane this team would’ve made the playoffs in the west not to mention the defending champions are in a similar position injuries hindered the Leafs all year we can score have goalie options but crappy defence and coach so this team isn’t that far off. Insane twit lets blow it all up…dumb
4.) 19 Apr 2026 05:59:06
@golftown. Seth Jones is not in Chicago. But Chicago retained $2.5 m when they traded him to Florida. Everyone knows that.
5.) 19 Apr 2026 06:46:56
I guess I was shaking my head because the trades just seemed to be tossed out with not thought at all in them.
You trade Nylander and get one 1st round pick in return?
You trade Matthews and Reilly at $20.75 Million and get Mctavish's Contract at $7 million. (The others are not on the main team so not part of the Salary Cap for 23 man roster.) Everyone things Anaheim has this massive Salary Cap money availability for next year. At $39.7 million. But it is very deceiving. Say this trade happened. Now they have $26 million left (Give or take).
But they still have 7 players to sign to fill their roster. 2 of those are Gauthier and Karlsson. So say $18 million there. On the low end if you go by most reports. Now there is still Mintyukov and Zellweger as RFAs and we haven't even touched base on the fact the team still has Carlson, Trouba and Gudas all heading to UFA's.
These are things that have to be taken into account when looking at Trade Partners. Anaheim has big decisions to make within their own organization without bringing in a big name with a big contract.
6.) 19 Apr 2026 13:16:22
Leafsgm78 hey man I’m guessing at by the 78 your 47 yrs old. Watched the Leafs thru some really good yrs Gillmore Clark Sundin Robert’s Tucker Stumpy etc! These past tens yrs shoulda yielded more than a second round game 7 blowout no?? I’m sorry, I think we’re further than u think sir.
These guys don’t have what I takes to win. Maybe Matthews without guys that showboat “Willy” and baby’s “Marner” crying about having to play 60mins a night or start at puck drop. Idk man maybe you’re seeing other results.
7.) 19 Apr 2026 16:04:31
Or not spending a decade trying to find a partner for your #1 d-man who isn’t very good to begin with.
8.) 19 Apr 2026 16:29:13
@LeafsGM78. How do you figure the Leafs would have made the playoffs in the west?
9.) 19 Apr 2026 17:09:33
Giving up Knies for Seth Jones is absurd!
10.) 19 Apr 2026 17:12:06
If they didn’t tank the last ten games, mathematically, if they won half they’d be in.
11.) 19 Apr 2026 17:18:08
Bottom line Matthews and Nylander aren’t the problem so I don’t understand how trading them is the solution. 1st round picks are still only maybes not 80 point players.
12.) 19 Apr 2026 17:52:15
@LeafsGM78 Your theory of them making the playoffs in the West is number one Fantasy (because they don't play in the West) and number 2 pure speculation.
Here is the reality. Playing in the East they still would not have made the playoffs is they had won 5 of those games. They still would have been woefully short. Had they played in the West and didn't tank the last games and nothing had changed at the Trade Deadline they would probably based on their record not made the playoffs in either division. At the Deadline they had 65 points in 63 games that would have translated to 84.6 points we will round it off at 85. That is if they would have kept McMann, Laughton and Roy.
Remember the Leafs had lost 6 in a row at that point without Matthews getting injured.
This team was not a threat to make the playoffs in any conference. The last stretch was to get into that 5th spot and that is no guarantee depending on the draw. We had games earlier after the trade deadline we had no business winning and almost cost us getting to the 5th spot.
Nylander's point production is not the problem however that also makes him almost attractive Trade target for other teams rather than Matthews because of Matthews ceclining production and not coming off injury. Especially with Matthews Contract and Willy being tied into a long term contract at $11.5 that also makes him more attractive in a trade. Because that contract will look very good in a few years.
13.) 20 Apr 2026 19:38:31
The theory of relativity is just a theory too right?

Hard to read the insane trade props on here that bought into the moron Pelley retool program.
But then again all you long suffering leaf fanatics hold onto any dream that implies success.
Mediocre leadership at the top.
Berube lost the room in December.
Trying to make crash and bangers out of finesse players.
Teamwork is non existent.
Culture is below sea level.
Yup.
Let’s retool!!!!
19 Apr 2026 00:30:03
Pelley is a moron
That’s all I got
12 Apr 2026 23:57:03
Prediction
Sunny Mehta as GM.
David Carle. Assistant Coach
Manny Malhotra Head Coach.
1.) 15 Apr 2026 08:40:44
Carle isn’t leaving Denver for a assistant coach he’s that coveted.
01 Apr 2026 12:45:07
Absolute ?️ yesterday from that ? on the podium
This franchise will not win anything in my lifetime.
31 Mar 2026 02:25:38
Tredeadthing is gone.
Thank goodness.
Berbooby stays until next GM is hired.
Doug Armstrong.
Then he hires Cassidy.
1.) 31 Mar 2026 10:07:23
Hope it’s not Armstrong the Blues are worse than the Leafs they need to go get “the guy” like Nill.
2.) 31 Mar 2026 13:29:24
I mentioned him sometime ago but the Leafs should go hard after Ryan Jankowski who is one of 3 assistant GMs in Seattle. This guy is the reason that Utah has so many good prospects from when he was with them as well in Arizona as head of scouting. Google his name and click on his Eliteprospects profile. He has been around for a while and started young. He knows young talent. Comes from a blueblood hockey family, His dad played 20 years at all different levels of pro hockey including a couple cracks in the NHL.
His brother played 4 years at Cornell, his one nephew is playing in the ECHL, his other nephew is Mark Jankowski who plays for Carolina, and his uncle for crying out loud was Hall of Fame 8 time Stanley Cup winner Red Kelly.
With a family like that Ryan Jankowski lives and breathes hockey and he would be the ideal choice to build this team.
28 Apr 2026 23:33:25
I would add Nicky Robertson to get this deal done.
28 Apr 2026 23:32:14
This trade is ridiculous as well.
28 Apr 2026 02:04:57
Laughable
26 Apr 2026 06:33:07
Draft Malhotra 5th overall
Sign Tuch
Cowan Malhotra Tuch
Isles move up to 10th overall
Draft Smits or Rudolph
Either could make the Leafs D next fall.
25 Apr 2026 22:46:23
? Looks good.
12 Apr 2026 21:14:32
They can’t even tank right.
They will finish 5th last.
Then lose one spot on the lottery.
Handing Boston.
Minten and the 6th overall pick.
The Legacy of Tredeadthing.
The Lunatic.
09 Apr 2026 02:44:24
Leafs stink.
Habs are on the rise.
Hughes Hage on the same line next year in Montreal with Kapanen.
Nice third line, sheltered minutes.
Leafs third line
Hughes Minten Cowan
Oh wait Minten was given away.
So Laughton, yeah that will get him to sign… ???
05 Apr 2026 18:06:11
Habs will
Sign him
Hage is the draw.
03 Apr 2026 04:50:16
Pelley is clueless when it comes to hockey
The Leafs will be non factors for the next decade with him at the helm
17 Mar 2026 22:43:02
You could tell already in preseason the Leafs were in trouble this season.
