Decent target, but I think Leafs way short. Tyson looks good, is 23, and drafted in the first round. And to add Rosteleinen which is a valuable trade chip for Philly, especially after having a very solid playoff series against Pittsburg.

We do need to trade a goalie that can't clear waivers so that means one of Woll, Stolarz or Hildeby and possibly 2 if A. A makes the team. But we also need to get a couple of goatending prospects that don't have to clear waivers, as Peksa is leaving the Marlies to go to the KHL so we actually are very thin in that regard.
We should offer sheet Carter Gylander from Detroit's farm System. He is a RFA this year and he had a $850,000 (Of course much less in the minors) contract so we could do $1,000,000 and he is waiver exempt and we would not have to give up any compensation at all.
He is buried in their system and who knows the way things go in Toronto, by end of the year he and A. A might be at the top of the Pecking order. We could look for another goalie similar as well. The draft doesn't look great to be honest for Goalies this year.

Yes, of course, but they would have to be someone that doesn't have enough years in a organization or enough games in the NHL to still be waiver exempt. That is the issue is finding those guys. As I said, we already have 3 guys that we could lose one to waivers, and possibly 2 if we had to replace another for poor play.
Actually there is one goalie that is back in the draft again this year that would be available around the 60 spot that I did see a lot of this year during the WHL Playoffs with Prince Albert.
Michael Orsulak. He might be worth a look at depending what else is available for Forwards or Defensemen when we pick with our 2 second pick. It is a concern though that we literally have 4 goalies right now that none really are playing like #1 goalies other than A. A.

2 1sts, KHL rookie of the year and a prospect, for Knies. That actually strikes me as an overpay by MTL.
I understand the community is very divided on this, but I would have done that jn a heart beat.

It’s not LL. Habs are probably gonna be final 4 for the next couple years, so those picks will pretty much be 2nds. Yes the KHL kid is good but we have enough talent. We need heart, guys to get in front of the net and in the corners. Knies is almost untouchable for me, it would take a massive overpay and this ain’t it.
Why do you guys think every team is willing to pay this much? Kid is the real deal. KHL kid doesn’t pan out over here and you’re stuck with 2 late 1sts for Knies and a bunch of soft perimeter players.

I completely understand the opposite perspective, I just don't see this team going anywhere with or without Knies.
By the time Knies' contract is up, I don't see him staying in Toronto or as a valuable asset.

I respect your opinion LL, but I see him as our next captain once Matthews leaves. May entice him to stay especially if they can build a decent product around him. He is only 24, if he was closer to 30, I’d agree with you.

Regardless of the package, why on earth would they trade knies who’s young and locked up on a great contract to a division rival thinking back at treliving's time with the leafs he traded a top prospect and a 1st for a 4-5 dman got nothing for Mitch Marner and almost traded knies to a division rival to me that guy should never be a gm in the nhl again.

@LL I’m not enticing Matthews to stay, I actually prefer they trade him and start the rebuild (and Nylander). I was enticing Knies to stay by him being our next captain once they trade Matthews.

Let’s sign a few more vets in free agency and add them to support Matthews and Nylander and Rielly as we have had such incredible playoff success with those three.
I’m thinking with our cap space we could add the likes of
Patty Kane - age 38
Evander Kane - age 35
Nick Foligno - age 38
Corey Perry - age 41
David Perron - age 38
On defence we add
John Carlson
Luke Schenn
Anyone over 35 is what I’m after
Younger does not mean better, right?
Remember let’s stick with the vets.
Add to the big three I mentioned above and we will definitely go places and maintain that level of consistency we have enjoyed these past 9-10 years.
Holding on to Matthews and Nylander and Rielly is the only way.
I firmly believe this core can win.
We just need improvements on d especially.
But yeah this core can win, we need to support them and surround and shelter them with better vets.
Because adding the likes of Marleau and Thornton and even Foligno and Boyle got us where we needed to go.

Leafs never had a shot at Pridham. He was never going to sign with Chicago with their depth of younger players and draft picks. So let’s see ... who has one of the worst depth if prospects in the NHL? Yes... Tampa. To go back in the draft didn’t make sense because he could get drafted by a similar team with lots of prospects looking to stock up even more. His “Family Advisor” most likely had an intermediary (Hmmmm Sam Reilly perhaps) tell Tampa that Pridham was very open to joining their organization.
By committing to the NCAA he now gives Tampa the luxury of having 4 years to sign him. With his resume he will also get a decent NIL contract (not McKenna $ but probably in the $200,000 -$250,000 which would be more that if he signed a ELC and spent a year or 2 in the minors). Word is Denver is his most likely landing spot. Denver and North Dakota and going hard for Landon DuPont as well. If Denver grabs both that would be insane.

No Problem! We sometimes forget these players are real people too. Max is a really good guy and ambassador off the ice. Have met him a few times and with the public and fans he is a really nice guy, his dad who I encountered a few times, not so much.
