The time to trade Nylander to the Sharks was last summer when he was coming off a 45 goal, 84 point season.
I suggested at the time sending Nylander to San Jose for Dickenson and the Sharks 1st round pick (2nd overall).
I believe the Sharks would have done it then.
I don’t think they do it now after pretty much a lost season for Nylander just as he is about to turn 30.

I'm curious in the first 2 trades how you broke down the value of which player was worth which player(s) and the draft picks in return?

I think we can pretty much shut down Nylander or Matthews going to Anaheim in a blockbuste deal. Maybe prio to the deadline there could have been a slim chance of something, but we are now looking at a team that has come together and gelled with young players and older players and some with 3 years under the belt and that are now young veterans. Barring disaster they look to have a playoff spot close at hand. They have no reason to move any of that young core, and in fact what is coming up is more reason to not do so. They have the leading scorer in the QMJHL, Maxim Masse, and defenseman Tarin Smith from the WHL, an offense machine that also is a punishing hitter as well.
These are the ones that jump immediately at you but there are many others. They don't need to unload top young talent at this juncture for a huge star. A few weaks for a veteran presence in the dressing room maybe but not at the cost of obtaining Matthews or Nylander. He would not want to be traded to them but a John Tavares type player would look good with that young team as a third and 4th dman.

Strip the "A" from Reilly, put him in the press box until he wants to move, then send him and Stolarz to San Jose for Smith and '26 1st.

Carlo or OEL seem like a good fit for Detroit.
Mintyukov is an excellent target for the Leafs.
I don’t think that Jarnkrok’s expiring contract, Benoit, whom the Ducks let go previously and the square peg in a round hole, Max Domi are going to generate much interest on the part of the Ducks.Ducks.

Schenn's put together a few good seasons for himself now. He might be looking at a 3x3 from someone. I would not sign schenn to that.

So Nashville has a cap hit of 6.55 for duchene and johansen and cap hit of 7.685 for Nyquist and oreilly. So 14.235 vs 16. Next year that cap hit goes up to 9.55 for those 2 meaning 17.235 is the cap on the 2 forwards replacing them. 3rd year johansen off books but duchene goes up to 6.55 and with Nyquist 3.185 and oreillys 4.5 jumps up to 11 million cap hit for the guy he replaced. Final year of oreilly contract duchene drops to 1.55 meaning oreilly is a6.05 against cap. Then Nashville keeps getting a cap hit if 1.55 for 2 more years. I mean yes they owed duchene 20 million and saved 11 in the end and saved 8 while paying 8 for johansen but 19 million saved vs
18 million actual dollars
saved but 24.37 spent on 2 replacing players.
Just thought I’d brake it down on how Nashville saved 12 million over 4 years in real money
48.475 is the 4 year cap hit used to replace 2 hits where johansen 16 over 2 and duchene 24 over 3 is 40 over 3
Anyways hope u liked the clarity and if not whatever Nashville isn't any better

With the need for 2 new assistances why not add from the farm and hire AJ MacLean. And then add good o'l dad in Paul MacLean . He was a great addition to the Blue Jackets bench which just beat Toronto.

All this talk of assistant coaches. Just get it over with. AJ MacLean is all ready in the system with the Marlies ( would be a great addition. Hockey is in the blood). And then hire his dad Paul MacLean. Lots of experience and was on the bench with the blue jackets that just bet the leafs.

Why don't the Leafs try to sign Andrew MacDonald.. he blocks shots like nobody and eats minutes . Yes he was on a bad contact but so are a lot of other players. He would cost you nothing in picks or prospects. I'm sure he would sign league minimum as he's still getting paid. He played pretty well in the Spengler Cup. And while they are at it why not try to sign Scotty Upshall ( veteran leadership) and Alex Grant( for the Marlies and maybe a call up)
