Ok so leafs have 11F 8D 2G and $443 grand of cap space.
They can operate 10% over cap meaning they can spend 8.35 over cap during summer as ne muzzin cant go on lTIR until season starts. Once he is put on lTIR then leafs would need 3 forwards and have 6.068 of space to sign them.
A murray buyout would cost 2.66 per year for 2 years. So it would save 2 million this year but cost 2.66 next year. If they make a trade and take 1.56(25%) they save 3.125 this year and start fresh next year.
So if they do a retain deal plus muzzin lTIR leafs could have up to 9 million in space to sign 3 forwards and a goalie
I say ask Chicago to once again take their goalie only this time it's Murray for 3.125
Murray costs .675 less than mrazek did and when healthy is a better goalie than what mrazek is when he is healthy
The cheaper price tag alone wouldn't cost leafs a 1st for a 2nd 12 spots later.
Add in Murray is better when both goalies are healthy and I think leafs aren't giving up a better asset just to make deal
They won't get a huge haul but why not just ask for chicagos 2024 5th rounder thus no condition and they just get both 2024 and 2025 5th rounders from Chicago as an extension of the McCabe lafferty trade

Bunting and kerfoot we know Dubas loves. Bunting a 2013 Dubas Sau pick and kerfoot he really loves this guy and his family away from the rink. Why not sign both for 8 yrs at lower AAV. I'm sure he could just wait and take 7 years but thst extra year might make him gitty
Abruzzese is an ex Harvard prospect to add to Pittsburgh horrible prospect pool.
Hollowell was Dubas 2nd last pick with Sau before he left for leafs then drafted him once again. He obviously loved this kid so why not add him in this trade as again Pittsburgh prospect pool is pretty bare

Leafs need to rid themselves of Murray’s contract, not trade it for an equally lousy one. Timmins being the next Letang is a huge leap. If the Leafs thought that for one second they wouldn’t be trading him for essentially nothing.

Granlund is a bottom 6, $5 million dollar cap hit.
Why trade one bad contract for another?
That doesn’t make sense when Murray can be bought out for $675,000 this year and $2 million cap hit the following year!

Don't understand the Scheifele rumors as the guy put up 42 goals and is a center.
Hellebuyck another one I can't rap my head around. Yes they are both ufa and maybe they have already told management they are testing the market ok so be it.
Nylander is in same boat bug is younger and has way more upside as Scheifele is going to start his downward spiral. Maybe 1 year of playing with connars or Ehlers and if not dealt Dubois can get nylander signed but if not he will hold way more trade value at deadline time than Scheifele would
Samsonov Winnipeg could sign for half of Hellebuyck and even get 2-3 years
Miller and abruzesse are simple..harvard was a Dubas thing and Brad will berid all things harvard
Oreilly,kerfoot and bunting rights have 5th-7th round value at most so simple throwing and if Winnipeg can negotiate a contract with even 1 of these guys it's probably more than what they could of going into ufa as Winnipeg isn't a team most co sided so Once Winnipeg has their rights they can start talking now and hope to convince 1 to sign. If they can convince 2 or all 3 it's a huge win. U never know once they actually sit down and talk and that's now what Winnipeg can do.

Jets say no even tho Helly has already told them he won’t sign long term. The rights to the UFAs are basically worthless and don’t add value to the trade for the Jets.

The rights to those players don't mean anything, but I think you're onto something here.
The Jets have a tonne of issues attracting top end talent. If Nylander is willing to sign an 8 year deal and Sammy at least a 5, they might be enticed to do this.

The Insiders say Hellebuyck is looking for $9.5 with term on his next contract.

Big Bee who lives for treving is pretty straight forward.
He always makes trades for future trades. His first trade deadline he sold 3 players even being a playoff team for high round picks and used 2 of those to grab Hamilton on in his first real off season in 2015. . He always signs 2-3 players every year in the 3-5 million range . Every 3 years or so In off season he pulls off a trade of the summer. Usually involving Hamilton(2018 with fox and ferland got hanafin and Lindholm) but either way it changes the teams look every time. Then the finally in 2022 the big trade and kadri signing
At deadline he tends to aquire picks picks and many picks and at draft he trades teams higher picks for multiple lower picks something I think Dubas emulated.
He did get 2 3rd rounders in 2020 by trading 19 for 22 then 23 for 24 but it's overshadowed by moves a few years earlier in Hamonic for a pick named Dobson. He did get dube for Russellyears before so dons win some lose
Hillier backstrom Ramo and markstrom . he will spend to get goalies but really over values them and in what he will contract them for and deal them for. Elliot for kyrou.. yuk..he seems to have a European flair in this position
As much as I love him he builds team around 2 or 3 smaller skilled players with 15 big rough tough players. Afterall at 6'4 225 brad likes players as big as he is. Just like Dubas loved his under 6'1 190 pound guys Just like he is,

Sure any of those guys would be swell to have but as you know and it’s been mentioned before nylander will need a new contract and he like last contract wont play until he gets the amount and term he wants. And with good ole micheal involved expect nothing less than 10X6 just to start.
Teams know this so any trade involving him wont be a steal for the leafs
If leafs can grab Terry who I’ve read multiple times was Matthews bff in 2014-15 at the under 18 us program as the 2 weren’t line mates ever but seemed to along with only 6 foot 1 at the time Tage Thompson always be each others company outside of hockey as all 3 just seemed to click.
This deal may not be flashy with many lottery picks to choose from. However with nylanders steep ask if my boy can grab the kid dubbed 2 and a half man by tee mates sue to his small stature as a kid always being the smallest kid out there then I think leafs win. Terry had always been the underdog playing with older kids to finishing highschool in 3 years and being youngest player ever to lace up for u of Denver. Heck his parents named him Troy after thst beloved bronco QB. His dad wanted his boy to play football but watching sakic and company triy chose hockey.

Both had a shortened season in 1st 3 years either by lockout or c.v..
Both played 1 extra year in jr after draft after getting drafted by Columbus

Bunting instead of battling jankrok and Knies he now has to battle kotkaneimi jarvis and just put up necas type AHL numbers in ponomarev to get into top 6.
To me Staal bunting fast looks like a great 3rd line but why would bunting give up an almost guarantee thing?

So Nashville has a cap hit of 6.55 for duchene and johansen and cap hit of 7.685 for Nyquist and oreilly. So 14.235 vs 16. Next year that cap hit goes up to 9.55 for those 2 meaning 17.235 is the cap on the 2 forwards replacing them. 3rd year johansen off books but duchene goes up to 6.55 and with Nyquist 3.185 and oreillys 4.5 jumps up to 11 million cap hit for the guy he replaced. Final year of oreilly contract duchene drops to 1.55 meaning oreilly is a6.05 against cap. Then Nashville keeps getting a cap hit if 1.55 for 2 more years. I mean yes they owed duchene 20 million and saved 11 in the end and saved 8 while paying 8 for johansen but 19 million saved vs
18 million actual dollars
saved but 24.37 spent on 2 replacing players.
Just thought I’d brake it down on how Nashville saved 12 million over 4 years in real money
48.475 is the 4 year cap hit used to replace 2 hits where johansen 16 over 2 and duchene 24 over 3 is 40 over 3
