Thoughts.

Hagg is a good choice. He’s already got a whopping 150 hits this year. Younger than Gudas and more upside, he would be more expensive to acquire, but well worth the price.
Using the Zadorov trade as precedent, I got to imagine the asking price for Hagg would be quite high. Kadri might be enough, but I’m thinking more like Nylander (Nylander of last two seasons, not the Nylander we’ve seen so far this year) .

Honestly I think your giving up a bit too much. Kadri is worth a top 2 RD, and although it is possible Hagg may be there one day, he hasn't proven to be that yet. His numbers aren't bad, but remember a majority of his points came while playing with Provorov.

I don’t think we would be bringing Hagg in for his production. Lol. It’s his work without the puck that makes him so valuable. Compare Hagg’a numbers with Zadorov’s when he was traded. Eerily similar. And still very similar even thus season. Sakic is a very astute GM. If he was willing to give up O’Reilly for Zadorov, what do you think Philly would be asking for Hagg?

Was thinking about Players I would look to target in Possible JVR deals.

Jets would not offer a roster player for less than a year of JVR, let alone a D-man.

Just sign JVR for 6 to 8 years for between $5 to $5.75 MM, trade Bozak and Komorov for draft picks and/ or prospects
Prefer Draft Picks 1 st and another 2nd would be fine.

Blues trade - Jordan Schmaltz plus a 2nd round pick

JvR probably would be able to grab a better return than Schmaltz and a 2nd.
Blues would go over the cap with this move also, but JvR would easily get Schmaltz and a first from St. Louis
Also Blues got Steen, Schwartz, Schenn and I think Sobotka is coming back so they are fully stacked on the left side.

Ducks are not trading Ritchie nor do leafs need him. Leafs plan this year is to make major steps forward. But the major push for Stanley cup is next season and if you look at leafs defence prospects now this is what in house looks like.

By ne t year leafs have very few holes they just plug in the piece or two they are missing in free agency and look out next season. Next season leafs still have no cap issues.

In agreement with Davidmackin. The Leafs had the chance to draft this guy and if my memory is correct, they went with Nylander instead. I haven't seen or heard much about how Ritchie plays, but Nylander is a bonifide future star in this league as long as he continues to trend upwards and build on his successes. The Leafs have other players who can provide the grit and toughness of Ritchie. Don Cherry thought the Leafs made a mistake not drafting the guy. I don't think so.

Because Upshall is signed to a shorter deal than Phaneuf and the Leafs can easily afford to pay him (both in dollars and for the short term he has left) in order to be out from under Dion's contract. Upshall's contract will be finished long before the Leafs are finished their rebuild. It really isn't difficult to understand and it makes perfect sense.

Rosen is clearly not ready for the NHL - Borgman looks alright, To say they look fantastic, they have played 2 nhl games, is not fair - teams are still getting familiar with new systems - goalies are not in form.
It is unfortunate the leafs do not have better options cause these 2 are going to keep getting exposed just like they both did vs the Devils. Send Rosen down and Sign Polak.
Not the answer to anything but a better option than what they have right now.

Jost will be a stud.
I was really hoping they did or had a move in place to grab him.
However - seeing how well the leafs played last year and the number of kids still in the pipe they sort of don't need him - they will just get themselves into cap issues later on. Trade to acquire players in positions you need.
Just my opinion.
