This really is what it will probably cost to get a RHD right now. With vancouver holding out on the rebuild it might take a 2nd in 2019 instead of a third

The price is just way to high for a RHD this year especially with every team that has one wanting an arm and a leg for the guy plus all your draft picks or teams just not shopping a guy so you have to blow them out of the water with a trade proposal

Not only does kronwall fill our top spot so we can keep Gardner and zaitzev together to grow but he will help babs mould reilly. It's really our best option with Lilgren a couple 1-3 years away. We won't ruin our future but instead helps by receiving a 3rd round pick.

With almost no RHD available at a decent price, why not turn reilly into a stud that can then take lilgjren under his wing and possibly have one of the most dynamic top 2 dmen in the league in 2 -3 years.

I understand JVR is a top line guy that will get us "possibly" a 1st round pick depending on which team you talk to. But why risk getting a decent player with a draft pick when you know you can have kronwall turn what you have into a true #1 which is what kronwall has been most of his career. the only reason I say most of his career is because lidstrom moulded him into the player he is about 8-9 years ago in 2009-2010. Before that he was an offensive threat but once lidstrom had his way. He was one of the best offensive and defensive dmen in the league any given year. Which is what needs to happen and I feel like Lou and babs know Reilly has to step up or he will get shipped out in in the last years of his contract when he's at his prime. Offensive dmen are easy to find even more so LHD but imagine if lilgjren is as good as people say he will In the nhl. We could win multiple cups in the next 5-10yrs by taking our time and helping our Dmen grow. Our offence doesn't need help at the moment. Guys will be scoring but can they out score the other team if we can keep the puck out of out zone. With this D roster marner and nylander will explode next year. 30+ goals easy with a couple dmen that can create top chance while exiting the leafs end. Plus Anderson doesn't have to steal 20 games for us to make the playoffs.
