I wouldn’t trade Sandin though Dermott, Marner for Doughty, 2nd is not to far off. The reason I don’t do this is the big difference in age, if that 2nd became an unprotected first then I would do it, though LA would never do it.

Doughty isn’t worth Marner any more. No way. Marner is worth more like a Heiskenan or Dahlin or Makar Type player. If we trade Marner it’s for a young elite top line defenseman with upside that is controllable for many years. Not an underperforming 30 year old overpaid at $11M on the back half of his career Doughty.

Just as an example, Grabner had 25 goals and 31 points when he was traded last year for a 2nd+prospect. Tierney has 20 less goals, though points are about the same.
We could probably get the deal done without having to lose a roster player. I don’t think Ottawa would want Gauthier anyway.

Tor is missing 1 piece now. With Muzzin the D core is good enough, it isn't perfect but team defense is more important - eg. VGK.
Tor needs a 4th center that can shut down and score a few goals.

A 1st round puck for a 4th line center seems a little overpayment. Dubas might want to hold onto next years 1st to use for next year’s playoffs. If we trade all our chips this year and don’t win, we won’t have anything for next year to attract a trade.
Tierney is better than 4th line duties anyway. If we could bring him in, we could use him 3rd line and either trade Kadri or put him on the wing.

Not chance I would give up the first rounder. I may tease the goat for him straight up but that would be it. Just my opinion, good idea though. I really just think we need to get someone with size that can score, a mean person on defence. As long as they can do that without giving up their 2020 first, I’m game.

Nylander for Pesce would be fair. No need for Zaitsev or the pick. If you want them to take Zaitsev as a cap dump, you would need to add extra to compensate them.

Honestly that’s close to being true, but if the leafs deal Nylander they should be looking much higher then Pesce, it should be Parayko or Dumba or something. Nylander is better then his stats right now. He is going to get going it’s just a matter of time before the good luck bug bites him and the bad luck bug let’s go.

If Pietrangelo is healthy by the deadline, a trade for him is not unreasonable. Not sure if this is the right value or not. My guess is that if he is still in St. Louis in the summer, he can be had for cheap. A similar package to the Karlsson trade should land him.

Leafs GM you know this is a bad offer. You can't justify it.
1) why on earth would blues value gardnier when he is a UFA and plays on a side that is not an issue for blues.
2)What does Holl or Maricin do for the blues.
3) your first will be 28-31 in value. That is not that great of a first pick.
So for 1.5 years of petro and two playoff runs. If summer rolls around you still are talking a high price. You can not compare him to Karlson and you know it. He doesn't want to leave, His wife is here and blues will pay him what he will ask. SO unless you offer something of value then your not getting him.

Your right, but the problem in leaf land is this.
Babs has to move Nylander and Marleau to Matthews wing and put johnsson and kapanen with Kadri.
That will improve both those lines productivity.
The alternative is leafs have to dump nylander contract for a stud rhd.
