If the Leafs can't sign Marner, how about something like this:
Leafs Trade Marner, Ceci
Penguins Trade Guentzel, Addison
Guentzel can be a replacement at RW and Addison is a good D prospect. Shedding Ceci's 4.5m cap hit will allow us to sign Gardiner as well.

I dnt know if Guenzel has same chemestry with tavares or matthews as he did with crosby? Would he net 40 with leafs? Heck, will he ever net 40 again?
I think the risk on Guenzel is too high to giving up on marner who is younger. That Addison kid looks like he could turn out to be a good dman though.
Not a bad ask. i'd personally pass but you never know what the teams are actually thinking.

This is not bad but that being said it wouldn’t work cap wise for the pens but this deal could work if you went something like this
Marner for Guentzel a bad contract probably a Jack Johnson or something and Pittsburgh 1st this year.

Penguins 1st is basically worthless unless it's flipped for something. I also don't see PIT wanting another playmaker Guentzel is far more valuable to them right now.

If Marner won't sign for 10m or less, send him to Columbus for Seth Jones. Wingers make less than centers, he has to realize that.

Idk if Columbus does it, it is definetly a fair trade, but behind Jones Columbus doesn't have a lot of solid RHD. Savard is ok but he is not a top 2 pairing guy. Behind that there isn't much. I don't think Werenski can do it on his own.

Jones looked to be top 5 rhd. Last year. Those are impossible to find. They don't have a replacement and they are much more coveted than 90pt wingers that don't get 30 goals.
Jones is 24 year old big solid offensive Dman gets 40 50 points. I guarantee they will not trade him. Blues just proved defense wins cups. Sorry. I think your better off going for pesce Jones is pretty much Columbus untouchable.
Also Jones makes 5.4 for 3 more years where marner wants 10-12 big difference.

That’s a good point MostLeaf, and I would tend to agree with that assessment. Except that without so many highly valuable players looking like they are done in Columbus, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made this trade. They are probably losing at least Panarin, Duchene, Bobrovsky, and probably Dzingle as well. So Marner would be a good pickup for them. And they can sign Karlsson, Myers, etc.

What does everyone think about going after Rickard Rakell? Marner declined 7 years at 13M from NYI. As a leafs fan he should not make anywhere close to what's McDavid makes. Trade Marner for Rakell and Troy Terry

If its true, which I highly doubt, why would anyone trade for a guy wanting to get paid the highest in the league when he is only top 5 on his own team.

Marner is top 5 on the leafs because the leafs have a great team especially offensively. If he had accepted CBJ offer he would be top 2 or 3 over there same for a lot of teams. Can't say he's not worth anything just because Reilly Tavares and Mathews are better.

I agree with you 100%, but I would rather bring in a RHD if marner won’t sign for under 11m per season. Trade marner for Seth Jones straight up.
