Idk about you guys but the more that comes out about marner the less and less I think he wants to stay in Toronto I mean if you wanna play for your favourite team growing up the taking a slight cut is money shouldn't be an issue so if I'm dubas I give marner and his agent till the draft to decide what they wanna do if not I'd do this deal

Tor: marner
Njd: hall

I'm sure the leafs could resign hall for 10-10.5 on a shorter term deal marner then would go from a team that has cup potential to the last place team

I would want the 1st overall added too. Hall is older and returning from injury. No telling how he will do when he comes back, and no guarantee he re-signs, and no guarantee how good Hughes is going to be either, or how long it will take before he is nhl star, if ever (busts are a lot more common than stars are after all, or the nhl would be filled with 100+ point players) .

Marner is the real deal. Basically 100 point player in his third year. He’s putting up Crosby-like numbers. A top 10 player in the nhl, if we trade him, it has to be for a guaranteed return. Hall alone is no guarantee.

I agree with you 100%, but I would rather bring in a RHD if marner won’t sign for under 11m per season. Trade marner for Seth Jones straight up.

So let me ask, what good does this do? Hall is a UFA in a year, and he'll get paid more than Marner for sure!

@torontobuds hall won’t get more and the reason I said if he doesn’t want to sign for a reasonable price I’d trade him rather then getting 4 1st that are unproven and may never turn into anything.

There would have to be an extension in place first. I think Jersey can extend Hall now. So it would have to be a sign and trade. Even still. I’m not sold on Hall. He had one great year. The rest of the time he has been good, not great. Was his “breakout” year really a breakout, or an anomaly? ANd how good is he going to be after such a serious injury and so much time off. He’s damaged goods right now.

@leafsgm ok I can see your point with the age thing but I think adding the first overall pick is a bit much yes marner is great but let’s not forget that hall won the Hart last year and before he got hurt he was on pace for another great season 37pts in 33gp so I have no doubt in my mind when he comes back this coming year he will be every bit as good as he was it’s a risk forsure but as a fan don’t you feel kinda pissy towards how marner and his agent are handling this saying that they are going to go talk to other teams. idk the 4 first would be great but like you said no player drafted is promised to be a star in the nhl unless your name is Mcdavid or Crosby.

@loganehrm I don’t think Columbus would move Jones even for marner.
