Leafs JVR
Stars 1st rounds pick, Denis, Gurianov. Antoine Roussel.
Leafs Jake Gardner, Connor Brown, and one of the first round picks.
Arizona. Oliver ekman-larsson. I read something that they're asking for a 1st and two players
Leafs 2nd round pick 2018, Connor Carrick Joffrey Lupul for the cap situations.
Columbus Blue Jackets, Jack Johnson, 4th round pick 2018
Jack Johnson replace Jake Gardiner.
Oliver ekman-larsson he's a huge boost on defense.
Kasperi kapanen would replace Connor Brown
We would still have our first a second and a third in the 2018draft
The only thing that would be hard to replace would be JVR or spot.

Lupus can't be bought out as he is "injured" and would have to clear first, I personally can't see them bothering with a buyout.

You're right I forgot about that. I guess the leafs have to weigh the value of an overpaid backup to dead cap space that can be used towards LTIR.

Important to remember lupul's actually salary is much less than his cap hit. Salary: 3.75 Cap hit: 5.25.
Could be a quick sell to a team looking to get to the floor such as Arizona/ vegas.
I also like the swap for niemi. Leafs will need a backup and niemi could be that guy. Stars can LTIR lupul and avoid a buyout.

It's not that bad a deal.
The Stars catch the money break, the cap space is even enough. The Leafs unload Lupul's 5.25M for 4.5 M of declining back up goalie.
But Niemi's numbers last year were terrible. So no.
Now taking LetOneIn might be a better option. He declining as well but he's much more consistent. He costs a little more for one year at 5.9M but the difference is trivial to the Leafs this coming year.
If Vegas takes him, we would just have to cry about it, and hire Mac again.
Dallas would get to use Lupuls 5.25M LTIR at the deadline, to help get into the playoffs.
Win/ Win for both teams.

It's not a massive overpayment, a slight overpayment. Dal Colle has not done ANYTHING and is on the cusp of bust status. He's a 2014 draft pick that has not made his team, a team that missed the playoffs.
At this stage, I wouldn't even go straight up for Kapanen with Dal Colle, Kapanen has proven more!
Pulock similar, but holds more value as he has produced better in the AHL.
The first is a mid range pick.
The Leafs do probably add, but not too much as a lot of questions marks coming back to the Leafs in this deal!

JVR is worth a 1st and two quality prospects.
The question here is the quality of the two prospects.
Pulock looks to be an all around Dman with some offensive talent, but has skating issues.
Dal Colle is 6'3" and may make a living in the NHL, but he hasn't come close to living up to a 5th OA pick. Definitely a bust.
I would replace Dal Colle with Hosang and give the Isles Lindberg and Valiev to balance contract numbers.
The Isles are in a bind with D because they will have to protect only 3 - Johnny, Nicky, and Travesty.
That leaves De Hann, Hickey, Sidenberg (35), and Mayfield unprotected in the expn draft; all of whom the Isles preffered over Pulock this season.
Despite not scoring earlier in the season, the Isles never brought Dal Colle up.
Hosang at least got an invite to the big club and stayed for 21 games picking up 10 pts in 21 games.
The original deal is good enough, but the Leafs have to watch contracts.

I wouldn't call dal colle a bust just yet. He's 20 years old and doing pretty well in the AHL, definitely not worthy to be a 5th overall maybe 15-25 range draft.

Hosang went 28th in the same draft and is playing far better
Hosang: 36 pts in 50 games in the AHL = .72 pts per game.
-10 pts in 21 games NHL
DalColle; 41 pts in 75 gamse in the AHL = .55 pts per game
- No NHL pts in 1 game.
Not even close.
Dal Colle is not performing even at a mid round 1st level. Shame, because he has good size and a good shot.
At this point I wouldn't trade Rychel for him.

I just have a question. When Milan lucic got traded from Boston to LA in he's final year of his contract. I'm just wondering if jvr worth more or less or same kind of deal?
I'm pretty sure the trade was.

I'd say they are pretty close. Although, JVR will be a little older and proven than lucic was when he was traded to LA. JVR is better offensively, Lucic is better defensively. I'd give JVR a slight edge just because he will be more proven than Lucic was. JVR is worth 6 mill a year. I think we will resign him at 5.5 for 5.

The 30 users who join this conversation we will draft players in this coming 2016 draft also we will go through all the rounds so hopefully whoever is playing knows their prospects for this draft. I'm going to start it off so I'm the Maple leafs if I use my first round pick and I draft auston Matthews. whoever starts the conversation first gets Winnipeg's draft picks and so on and so on.

JVR is going to play a pivotal role for the young kids next season, so I wouldn't consider trading for him at all. Not to mention, he's a hell of a very good player with great team attitude!

Trade him. Depends on the deal.
JVR: 27yr, Vet, 30-40 goals, creative; maybe lacking in aggressiveness; hasn't played with #1 center yet.
4th-10th OA: No exp. 0 goals, everything else is a "guess" at the NHL level. You just can't know - they are a gamble.
To trade JVR; the return would have to be
the top 10 pick + a prospect/2nd rnd pick.

You only way you trade for the first round pick if some team pays overpayment. for example trading up for a fair deal would be a roster player . a really really good Prospect and a first-round pick. so using Arizona for example they have to trade their seventh overall pick ,Domi as the roster player Dylan strome as the prospect and 2017 first round pick. That's a fair deal but leaf s don't want a fair deal so they got too add. Also think Leafs should add Joffrey Lupul and really low prospects so you havets space.
