Severe overpay for a UFA must be theme of the day lol.

2.) 08 Dec 2019 02:27:04
Lets not trade any more first picks until we see how this year goes.

3.) 08 Dec 2019 02:27:10
Overpay for now. Dubas has put himself in a situation. Where now the coaching isn’t to blame. A deal has to be made - bite the bullet, maybe but once the seasons over there are many players that will dealing with contracts. So the chances of keeping - Barrie, Ceci, Johnsson, Kapanen and I can keep the list going - are very slim. That’s if you want a cup. The way the roster is now it’s pretty much knocking it down and putting it back together.

I don't think that's enough for hall. Your sending them a cap dump in Ceci and exchanging Johnson for Hall.

2.) 01 Dec 2019 13:58:21
I think the hall deal goes through if your adding a pick and a future prospect such as Lillegreen or bracco but other then that good proposal.

3.) 01 Dec 2019 14:25:54
Devils don’t need Ceci either. They have more than enough RHD. Johnsson is a good choice, but would need to throw in a pick/ prospect to go along.

4.) 01 Dec 2019 20:10:23
Ceci is just to make the cap work.

5.) 01 Dec 2019 22:03:02
Ceci is just to make the cap work - with this being the last season in his contract it’s not like they would be stuck with that for long. Johnsson being locked down at a fraction of the cost. Opens up room for the Devils and adds a player whos more than capable of filling that role. I was thinking pick or prospect to go along - but didn’t see a high pick being worth.

Are you a dumbass? A top 6 forward and a middle 6 forward for scraps?

2.) 25 Nov 2019 01:13:21
This will definitely make the Leafs worse.

3.) 25 Nov 2019 06:16:53
Next time I see you say something stupid I will respond with "are you a dumbass? " Mostleaf.

Leafs sign FA Anthony Stewart to PTO

Leaffan53

1.) 22 Nov 2019 09:17:54
I think we’re better off finding a center or maybe giving Spezza more time now that Kerfoot is going to be gone indefinitely with a broken face.

2.) 22 Nov 2019 10:05:52
Fair but adding some muscle with Stewart. Would take a contract the same size as Spezza. Maybe point wise not get the most out of him but Leafs are too soft now, let alone think about playoff time.

3.) 22 Nov 2019 10:14:53
Stewart is a scout and happy doing so
Kerfoot is back with a full face shield is he not?

4.) 22 Nov 2019 10:34:44
I know they fix them up fast these days, but that’s pretty impressive. Guess he didn’t need surgery.

5.) 22 Nov 2019 10:43:20
Stewart is an opinion analyst and minor hockey skills coach in the GTA - what 32 yo? The way Dubas has it right now is we’re trying to “find identity”. The identity was concrete when he said with no hesitation that he’s overdosing on offensive speed and talent at the expense of muscle. Guys like Stewart are what the leafs should be looking into to fill into the bottom of the lineup to do some damage here and there.

6.) 22 Nov 2019 11:09:57
Glad to hear Dubas finally admit what we’ve all been saying on here for years. Ever since that traded Martin and let Leo walk we all said we were going to regret it.

7.) 22 Nov 2019 14:46:06
Seems like dubas is mirroring every move army makes except for giving out decent contracts.

8.) 22 Nov 2019 15:39:57
Just like Armstrong mirrored hundreds of gm’s before him?

9.) 22 Nov 2019 16:39:13
Nope he is copying army. I hope it works but he did it like a child. He didn't sign very good depth players. He over paid his top talent and has yet to find a stabilizing partner for riley. He fired Babcok which was needed. Hearing he really lost the room. Made a good decision to hire the marlies coach vs hiring one of the revolving few. Which I think keefe has done an amazing job with the marlies. With the leafs being so young I think this will work. The main thing dubas needs to do is start cutting the dead weight from the team. I hope it works out for you guys. I give you all sheet for being delusional (well deserved) but you guys are great hockey city and between MTL TOR EDM I have always like TOR best. Maybee this is the fire that needs to be lit under your teams arse to get going. I defiantly will be paying attention to the next 2-3 weeks.

10.) 22 Nov 2019 18:07:59
Lol did redwing1 really just say that?

11.) 22 Nov 2019 19:17:42
He’s secretly a Leafs fan obviously. Absolutely no reason to troll another teams forum otherwise. If Leafs has won last year he would have been just as happy.

12.) 22 Nov 2019 20:12:50
So a meltdown in dallas followed by 10 seasons of bad playoff runs and what 4 coaching changes and a 5 year retool with 2 amazing trades and a hot goalie and you consider that a mirror dubas is looking into

seriously the blues are massive the leafs are fast. what mirror is dubas looking in because armstrong isn't the reflection looking back at him.

Think someone needs to lay off the sauce.

13.) 22 Nov 2019 21:13:03
2011 sau st marie hire kyle dubas GM
2012 mid season sheldon keefe replace mike stapleton head coach

2014 toronto mapleafs hire gm kyle dubas to run marlies
2015 sheldon keefe replaces gord dineen head coach

2018 toronto mapleleafs new gm kyle dubas
2019 quarter season sheldon keefe replaces mike babcock head coach

Do you see the trend?
No mirror on this one.

I like Shaw, but he gets hurt a lot. You have to believe that little Alex Nylander can continue to play at an nhl level, despite slowing down after a fast start. He’s not doing too bad this year, but idea your trading away a young, long term asset like Johnsson, the young long term asset coming back should be just as good, which so far, young Alex Nylander has not.

If Shaw can stay healthy, he’s good to cover for the loss of Johnsson until (hopefully) little Alex can show the world he’s just as good.

2.) 22 Nov 2019 10:17:14
Yes with a double shot of yes.

3.) 22 Nov 2019 10:49:50
I think Shaw would be a great fit. Brings some toughness to the top 6 or even park him on the 3rd line in replace of say Mikheyev. He would also bring playoff experience and veteran leadership- having been past the first round of the playoffs.
As for Alex. Decent start for him but hit a dry spell. Having moved from Buffalo, maybe having Willy and Alex together would help both of them settle in nice and cozy.

4.) 22 Nov 2019 14:28:32
I've been advocating for baby nylander a while, I still have concerns on if he has a big year, he will be just as hard to get a contract settled as his older brother.

How long before Dubas gets fired?!

Nylander has been playing the best hockey so far in his little time in the NHL. No way they even think of trading him, right now.

I’m very interested to see what value the leafs will get in return for Matthews when the time comes. Right now is certainly not that time.
