ANA - Manson and Miller

Get a good backup and a right handed shutdown defenseman for a young offensive talent.

If Manson wasn’t on long term IR, I would do this. Desperately need a top 4 dman with defensive conscious, need forwards with a defensive conscious. Wonder how much Miller has left.

Nylander has been playing the best hockey so far in his little time in the NHL. No way they even think of trading him, right now.

Nylander would have to be traded for Makar if he was to go. He has been the leafs best player under keefe. Of all the "spoiled brat" comments that get thrown out there about lots of guys, Nylander is the most spoiled. He looked like crap for a coach he didn't like because I think that's just who he is. "Oh yeah want to talk to me like that? I don't care then". Under Keefe he looks like the Nylander we all expected when he was drafted. A full season of this effort and some luck he could be a 30g 90pt guy on a good contract.

Willie doesn’t make enough to be the guy who needs to go. It’s either Matthews or Marner. And we need an elite 1C more than we need an elite 1RW. Kerfoot is not a 2C. So we need to keep Tavares and Matthews and give them elite, but reasonably priced, wingers. That Marner divining is so ridiculously overpriced it makes Dubas look real bad.

Losing a 6.9 guy doesn't really help the cap situation a tonne. I still say it has to be mathews, Marner or Tavares that go if you decide you want to save some money. 3 guys making 34 a year is the issue if you don't like the top heavy team build. Whoever replaces Nylander has to be of similar value so will cost anywhere between 4-6m. That saves 2 a year. Doesn't help anything unless Kapanen or Bracco are as good as Nylander now does it?

How is that selling high? Lol. Your getting an old backup and a top 4d that's currently injured. This seems like selling low to me.

For everyone saying "desperately need a defenceman" are we watching a different team? 1-1 until the collapse against philly and 2-1 with an empty better against Colorado. They haven't been Islanders defensively but they haven't been horrible. They are built to score and aren't scoring right now. That's the major issue. Marner had a good game I thought and will definitely help the offense but if Mathews can get going as well we are back in action.
