I had a thought that is so far outside the box I had to post it. I'm not sure I would even do it.
Toronto trades:
M Marner
T Bozak
Wash 2nd rd pick
Winnipeg trades:
2nd overall pick
Toronto then drafts both Matthews and Laine.

Although Laine appears to be a great player and has size, Marner completely dominated the OHL playoffs this year as well. At this point, probably prefer to just roll with Marner and see if he can be the next Patrick Kane

I don't think Toronto should trade trade marner or will trade him Marner dominats the other teams and is very skilled maybe he could be Tavares. Think about it Marner turning to next Tavares or Kane I don't think they should trade him.

I still don't trust Laines skating. Especially in the smaller NHL rinks. Or his overall game.
At the moment, he looks like a bonafide powerplay guy. Unfortunately, that's an average of 4 mins a game.
The how will,in the other 56 mins still remains a big reason, I have him 3rd. Behind Matthews and Pulvy

Did you even watch Marner this year! Big no to the trade. He's a right side quarterback. Go take a look when he plays in the Memorial Cup.
Don't you want to see this kid feed JVR & Matthews/Stammer. The one thing these highlight videos don't show is all of the unconverted passes. Tons of these passes are gems. This kid is the full skill set.
Big NO! to trading Marner. All this kid needs is bulking up and until then protection by playing with veterans.
Trade JVR instead and add Trouba and/or Hellybuyck to the return.

I believe that N. J. is deep eough in goaltending and D to make this trade.
Carolina really does have more than enough depth at D to make this trade.
These are assets that Toronto can use to get what they know they need.

I'd be surprised if Carolina trades a young DMan, they have so many young studs on the back end, they build a great Defence foundation

Yes Mike97 Carolina has a number of young Dmen with potential. That's the point. They should try to strike a better balance. They need some help up front, especially on the RW. That's why I suggest Kapanen and Bozak(who is a Cener but with a right hand shot)

Horton's contract is not insured. That is why Columbus traded with us in the first place. Think a bit more before you post.

Who wants fair? It's the 1st overall pick and Matthew's from Arizona. If they want him they overpay or we keep him.

JVR is a former 2nd overall pick. He's on a great contract. The Ducks need a 1st line LW so he is exactly what the Ducks need. JVR by himself is worth Fowler and Anderson with the ducks adding a pick. If you want Anderson and a left hand shot Dman without a pick change Fowler with the younger H Lindholm. However we need a RHS Dman with some size more unless you're looking to trade J Garciner too.

In my opinion, if and it's a big if the Leafs trade the 1st overall pick it should NOT be a hockey trade. It should be the biggest 1 sided trade in the history of the NHL. D Strome, C Dvorak, both the 1st rd picks Arizona has andsee if we can get them to add Domi. lol.
Seriously I hope we keep the pick.
