(I don't if Tampa would still trade drouin)
To Toronto:
-J. Drouin
To Tampa:
-KAPANEN (I like him, but yzerman said near equal value)
-Rights to HOLLAND (if stammer leaves they need a centre)
-PERCY (imo he looks like he's becoming an extra defenceman)
-Toronto adds a forward prospect, as they have too many at this rate
Opinions? Might be stupid but not the worst I've seen on this site.

Give it a rest with the Drouin stuff. How long do you think he would last under Babcock?
2.) 16 Apr 2016 18:08:37
Would add that Drouin is a prospect which hasn't reached his potential and might be a minor bust. Yzerman wants too much for him Leafs pass.
3.) 17 Apr 2016 16:02:41
Not likely. Druin has shown he can compete in the playoffs (so far), and now that he's back in the fold and working hard he'll likely stay there.
Stamkos leaving means they need a 1C, which Holland is not. That they play him on the wing means they need a top line forward in general and may be up for getting a winger instead.
You're right, not the worst on the site haha

How long do you think Babcock would put up with him? How long would Lou put up with him?
5.) 18 Apr 2016 15:53:27
Do you really think Babcock would tolerate him?
6.) 20 Apr 2016 20:39:10
Switch Percy with Gardiner and Holland with Bozak, then and Matt Carle from Tampa for contract reasons and that is a start. I think Tampa would also ask for a low 1st round draft pick, but might accept a high 2nd

To everyone who says that stammer will come to Toronto, it's not going to make sense unless he takes a discount like 7.5M because if you sign him at 10M how do you expect to sign marker nylander, whomever we draft, Brown, Leipsic and to maintain the salarys we already have. with the trades that we did, we aren't going to have enough cap for the season after this one. I'd love stammer but come on it just ain't going to happen :].

To allow for Stamkos:
The leafs can unload Laich , Michalek, Froese, Greening, Campbell, and Hunwick in trades for more prospects (14.7 M). All these contracts are over after this year anyway.
The 5 buried contracts of Stalock, Smith, Cowen, Torres, and Arcobello will all be gone this year. That's (10.2 M).
Their issue is the Lupul(2 more years), and Robidas, Kessel and Gleason portions. That's approx. 11.2 M of dead cap space; but that will be gone in three years. Only the Kessel 1.2 M contract stench will remain; so (10 M).
So if I add up correctly (I'm 8 beers into the night) that's (34.9 M) released from the Nonis shackles 3 years from now when Nicky Nine Door Nylander and his street band (The Goat & the Shrimps) need to get paid.)
Of course we have increased the the salaries of Kadri and Rielly by 4.6 M so you will have call it 30 M.
Even uncle Leo, Bozo, and of course Bernier a hole in your wallet will all be gone by then (probably sooner (9.3M))
So roughly 40 M./year
So explain to me why we can't pay for Stamkos and the kids.
They are all only going to make 5M or so for their next contracts at the end of which Stamkos will be retired.
Don't forget JVR who is already gone according to half the posts here (5.25 M) will no doubt be traded in his last year.
How many of the kids will make it, how many will be traded for upgrading, and how many of them will deliver.
Seems the only thing that is holding back Stamkos from being a Leaf is his signature and the patience to wait a couple of years for rebuild development which he alone will advance by a year.
Or you could wait a couple for John Taveres.
What the heck, there's enough moola by then for both. Discount that! And the Phil hot dog stench will be gone by then.
Note: Cap floor will have to be managed by 1 year contracts to PAP to reach that ridiculous requirement.
One more thing. Which of the 1st 4 picks in this years draft wouldn't look good beside Stamkos?
Time to get another beer.

You do exactly what other teams do. Draft well. When the tough choices are made on contracts you jettison players that are too expensive and stick the team with cheap players on their ELC or RFA's.
3.) 19 Apr 2016 16:15:12
You never know he might. Leafs have a ton of cap space but is paying a guy 1/7th of your cap a good idea? Is he a diminishing asset?
By the time our young guns need a pay raise his contract could be a major problem; if Chicago can find a way then so can Prindham eh?

Responding “To allow for Stamkos†Poetically written and brilliantly said.
Cheers!

If Montreal chose A. Nylander , I wonder what that'd do for the rivalry , Will Vs Alex
12 May 2016 01:35:59
Would never happen by the oilers
10 May 2016 18:31:36
Hyman Dumont get traded, babs LOVES him
10 May 2016 01:13:36
Minnesota one is really good, Minnesota gets more picks but looses their first, and they get rid of around 6M to sign Dumbarton, if it's not enough, maybe a 7th
14 May 2016 00:23:59
I think Lou would only offer 7m other teams, maybe like 8-10m
14 May 2016 00:23:08
No, unless it's 7m
07 May 2016 16:54:47
In time I'm pretty sure rielly should become a #1, his stats are like Keith's when he was a rookie (better numbers in year 3 with much less pp time) But it's still possible something goes wrong
07 May 2016 01:25:14
Too much

Agreed
