I think he too expensive and I think Vegas will resign him he’s been a great fit there.

Dubas should have been targeting Acciari and Barbashev at the trade deadline not O’Reilly who was -21 for the regular season and -3 in the playoffs.

3.) 08 Jun 2023 13:12:08
Barbashev was a -10 and Acciari a -6 for the Blues when the trade was made. They should have targeted Buchnevich at +14 and Walker at +10. If they couldn't get Buchnevich, then Blais at +3 and Walker at +10 should have been the choice by Dubas.

@WB revisionist history at its finest.

Everyone wanted ROR, now let's all sit around and trash Dubas because Barbashev is performing better, on a better team.

I'm happy Dubas is gone, but I'm not going to bash him for things I agreed with.

5.) 08 Jun 2023 21:27:21
Lol are we really gonna sit here and compare the most useless stat in hockey.

6.) 08 Jun 2023 22:02:26
@goat. You mean that the logic of using +/ - to determine who Dubas should have traded for lacks merit?
I'm shocked. lol.

If Keefe would of kept ROR at centre on 2nd unit with Tavares on wing it would of had same affect as barbashev on 2nd line winger with Tavares as his centre.

Keefe chose to keep ROR to centre 3rd line to have strength up middle.

Barbashev cost a 2021 1st rd pick #30 for a 2.25 cap hit 26 goal 60 point best year player who was -10 and a 1/ 2 point a game player at time of trade

Ryan Oreilly cost a 2023 1st rd pick #25 and a 2023 Ottawa 3rd rd and a 2024 2nd rd and 2025 4th rd pick as well giving up a point a game AHL player and a 4th rd pick from 2019 for a 1.85 cap hit for a 28 goal 77 point best year who was -24 and point every other game guy who also won selke and conn smythe awards.
Leafs also got acciari a former 20 goal best season who hits everything he sees
Leafs also got a 4th rd pick from 2021.

All told
Oreilly at full value for a 1st 3rd abramov
Acciari for a 2nd and gaudette
Pillar rights for a 4th rounder
Somehow minny picked up 3.75 (half) of Oreilly cap value for free

I’ll take this trade every time over barbi trade. Oreilly got 11 pts in 13 gms and barbi 16 pts in 23 gms. In playoffs oreilly had 9pts in 11 and barbi had 17pts in 20. Seems to me if oreilly is no differant offensively but wi s faceoffs and plays 200 four game. Throw in hit machine acciari and I stand by leafs made better trade.

Vegas simply has deeper team than Toronto as they had more than 34 million in lTIR at one time to make this deep team at playoff time.

@Brads well said.

People forget how bad Barbashev is defensively at times. Scoring isn't supposed to be an issue (Mitchy. ) on this team, but it turned out to be.

marner is THE guy should be moved. The give aways, not physical and wayyyyy overpaid. for crying out loud in playoffs, the guy is a cupcake just like another guy on that line.

mathews and marner are cupcakes, as seen year after year playoff teams shut them down. gretzky said it best with his quote" they are guys on milk cartons"
