Anaheim:

I actually like both of those deals believe it or not. I am not a huge fan of McTavish in a lot of the trades, but his one actually works in the Salary range and asset given up. I would still shop for a another Centre though with more speed and I would put McTavish on the wing.

The second trade addresses the Type of puck moving defenseman we are looking for and if by some fluke someone does pick a d-man with the #2 pick then we take Stenberg as we know Vancouver would take McKenna. If McKenna and Stenberg are both gone, now we have Buium we take Malholtra.

I have loved this Vancouver trade scenario since Mike Futa put it out there. It's probably the only way I would trade our 1OA.
Hopefully it comes to fruition.

3.) 30 May 2026 14:43:03
The Anaheim one I have seen thrown out a couple of times now, and for the Leafs, it should be a no-brainer. I can't see why Anaheim would do it. They are loaded on the left side D.
The 2nd one makes me go back and forth on yes and no, which to me means it's a good prop.

Would Van give up the talented D they got back for Hughes just to get McKenna? Would the Leafs pass on McKenna to get Buium and possibly another D or Malhotra? Possibly Stenberg. I think the Leafs would, not sure Van would.

4.) 30 May 2026 16:20:52
I would do that first trade every day including Sunday for the Leafs, but the Ducks won’t

They can have Sir Anthony Stolarz
We will take back Colangelo and a 3rd 2027

So...
Now the Canucks trade
I would expand it
I know Free Willy is adamant about staying
But who cares about his feelings
(I’m being the Vegas GM right now)

Nucks
Rielly
Benoit
Nylander
2nd 2027
1st overall 2026

Leafs
3rd overall draft Stenberg or Malhotra

Buium
Hronek
Boeser

Willy can lineup with his Swedish meatball center Pettersson
Rielly goes home
They can draft and probably will draft McKenna, saves his parents' air miles from the Yukon
Benoit is along for the ride

For my beloved Maple Leafs
Free agent signing Tuch and Jenner
If they draft Stenberg
Knies Matthews Boeser
Robertson Tavares Tuch
Cowan Jenner Stenberg
Lorentz Quillan Colangelo
You can drop Robertson to the 3rd line move up Cowan or Stenberg

McCabe Tanev
Buium Hronek
OEL Carlo
Villeneuve is first up in case of injury (read Tanev)
Then Benny Danford after him

Woll
Hildeby
Akhtyamov is first up when Woll pulls his groin by October 31

If they draft Malhotra
Second line becomes
Malhotra Tavares Tuch
(Ease Malhotra into the NHL as a winger
Or if you like move the ancient wonder Tavares to the wing and put Malhotra at centre)
Third line is
Robertson Jenner Cowan.

I like this idea and not to sound like a broken record on keeping Nylander because that’s not what I’m getting at. My only hang up would be Tuch’s number if it north of Nylanders salary. I’d really have to think about it.

Tuch didn’t have a great playoff. He’s the same age and probably wouldn’t match Nylander in points. I’d also drop JT down a line to the 3rd, but like I said pretty good post man.

6.) 31 May 2026 02:24:45
I always laugh at the jabs at Nylander (In this case playing with his Swedish meatball buddy) another one about a trade to New York to play with his Bestie Zibanejad.

Truth is actual best friend in all hockey is Pastrnak and he would in a likelihood waive his not trade to go play with him but again the leafs would have a tough time finding a deal to do with Boston.

BUF just drafted 18 yr old in the first rd #9, 21 year old Kulich is also a 1st Rd #28. Both are under control until age 26

BUF also has a roster size of 23 right now. This trade will mean they are at 25 and need to drop two.

So, you want BUF to give up 2 first rounders under control for many years and a pick and then drop 2 players from their roster to make it fit for a 23 year old 2nd rounder that hasn’t yet found himself and two older role playing Bottom 6 forwards with 1 and 2 years of control respectively?

Then we have to go shopping for a point producing D that’s gonna cost a lot too. No point in trading Morgan right now while his value is this low. Let’s give him a chance to bounce back IMO but thistrade seems pretty fair to me but not sure if I’d do it. Tough choice.

2.) 29 Jul 2025 12:05:41
Rielly has had 4 seasons to bounce back.
Ship him out.

3.) 29 Jul 2025 23:04:00
Reilly isn’t bouncing back this year, next year or any time in the future.
We have had the best Reilly has to offer.
It’s all downhill now!

4.) 30 Jul 2025 21:15:09
Teams still value Reilly and his contract. Contrary to what some of u think. But u can’t lose him with having a replacement ready to step in or trade for.

Islanders:
JVR LW (4.25/ 1yr)
Frederik Gauthier C (.900/ 2yrs)
Brendan Leipsic C (RFA)
2nd 2018

Leafs:
Mikhail Grabovski C (5/ 1yr)
Nikolai Kulemin RW (4.2/ 1yr)
Jaroslav Halak G (4.5/ 1yr)
Michael Dal Colle LW (.900/ 2yrs)
Mathew Barzal C (.900/ 2yrs)

Leafs take on over 9 million in salary and prospects and Islanders can sign UFA around Tavares.

Leafs can probably flip these players at Trade deadline for 3rd 0r 4ths.

LesHabitants

1.) 27 May 2017 22:15:19
Grabbo may be damaged goods.
Kulemin will never play here; not ahead of the players we already have.
Halak, the Leafs don't need.
Dal Colle has not produced to date, and can't even make the Islanders.
Barzal is the only good piece here and I doubt they will give up on him.

It's too much to give up for so little in return, and to pay the extra cap on top of that; it's a non-starter.

The Leafs need to solve the RHD issue first, your the above doesn't deal with that. All other positions are of secondary importance for now and can be upgraded later. We will need to add about 4 or 5 RHD pieces in total over the next year.

So how are your Habs doing with their dreams of glory busted.

2.) 27 May 2017 23:44:43

Might want to sit the next few plays out.

Cheaper to sign him to an offer sheet of 7 million a year (not worth it by the way) and trade JVR for picks and/ or prospects.

With an offer sheet you'd loose 1st,2nd and 3rd.

There are very few D that are worth that much if not more $$$. (Drew Doughty, PK Subban, Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns, Alex Pietrangelo, Victor Hedman, Seth Jones and in the future maybe Rasmus Ristolainen and Zachary Werenski)
