Leafs:Mrazek, 1st Round 2022

Flyers: Carter Heart.

1.) 10 Dec 2021 04:19:47
Why would they possibly hand over Hart?

2.) 10 Dec 2021 13:37:28
I can't see Philly even considering this.

3.) 12 Dec 2021 19:05:08
Can't see Toronto wanting a goalie from one of the worst teams in the league. When I think of trades I think playoff contenders trading with other contenders.

18 Mar 2021 01:10:02
Ducks: Rakell, Gibson

Leafs: Anderson, Robertson, Lilijgren, 1st 2021.

1.) 18 Mar 2021 15:33:25
No cap?

2.) 18 Mar 2021 16:21:40
How about Andersen, Abrusese, Lilejgren and a 1st Rd pick in 2021. Nick Robertson could become somewhere between Jarome Iginla and Brett Hull.

3.) 19 Mar 2021 01:33:19
Gibson - 6.4M for 6 more years
Rakell - 3.8M for 6 more years
We can fit them in, Other moves would have to be made.
Lock both them up, Rakell is a stud and hasn't hit is full potential.

01 Nov 2020 01:22:17
Black hawks: Kane (30%) retained

Leafs: Nylander, Holl, 1st Round Pick 2021.

1.) 01 Nov 2020 03:59:47
Why is everyone trying to trade Nylander? Doesn’t make any sense! He’s 24 year old! And Kane is 31! 32 on November 19th! WTF?! Please people! Stop trading Nylander! It’s not happening! He’s too good!

2.) 01 Nov 2020 14:29:20

Leafs trade Matthews
Chicago trades Toews*, Kane*
*Chicago retains 50% of each

Is that better MacLeod?

3.) 01 Nov 2020 16:04:52
Uh no.

4.) 01 Nov 2020 16:17:22
People need to stop thinking of nylander as the perfect trade chip and start thinking, he is the single best monetary value on the team. Just looking at a $/ point aspect. 7m for 70 points is pretty solid. 11m for 90 points is kinda terrible if you look at it.

Now think, if you can trade that 11m for 2 5.5m players who produce 60 points you can hands down trade marner. Hell you knight get luck and see 65/ 70 points from 1 ofnthose 2 players and you can feel good about getting rid of marner. 130 points from 11m is so much better.

5.) 01 Nov 2020 17:47:38
Problem is when the flat cap came in a lot of teams that may have wanted Marner don't anymore. His value plummeted. Unless your name is Mathews or Mcdavid I can't think of anyone at 11+ that gets you fair value right now.

6.) 01 Nov 2020 18:31:26
So if marner gets dealt for 2 5.5 million who are 50-60 point guys you expect both to keep that pace when 1 automatically drops to 3rd line duty. Yeah guess you forgot you can’t have 4 forwards on a line did you.

Year 1 marner gets JVR close to 30 goals
Year 2 marner gets both kadri and JVR 30
Year 3 Marner gets Tavares 47 goals
Year 4 injured marner gets Matthews 40+ goals

Every year marners linenates have career years. Then once marner isn’t with that line mate they all regress big time. So yeah marner must suck and can’t drive a line

I think some leaf fans really need to chill out. Just enjoy watching 1 vet superstar and 3 not even in their prime superstars do their thing. Non have regressed, they all keep getting better. It even took Stevie Y until he was 28 before he made believers out of redwing fans. Time
Give up on them now and you’ll regret getting 2 average guys to just save on cap. Until things change just enjoy their superstar ness.

7.) 01 Nov 2020 18:51:41
Hockeyluvr lol no! I wouldn’t do that trade either. Mattews is 4 goals short of both Kane and Toews combined last season. It’s never a good trade when you’re dealing the best player in the trade. Matthews is 10 years younger. He should be classified as ineligible for trade.

8.) 01 Nov 2020 18:55:39
I disagree about Mathews. If he wasn't injured he looked like a possible 50 goal scorer every year.

The rest you have a good point on.

9.) 01 Nov 2020 22:31:20
Noone ever, should be classified as ineligible. By saying ineligible your saying Mcdavid and Drais at 50% for Mathews is a bad trade.

10.) 01 Nov 2020 23:23:59
LeafsLife why would Edmonton ever do that trade? Makes zero sense, so yeah, I’m sticking with my statement.

11.) 02 Nov 2020 02:02:01
Why did someone give up the house for lindros? Has happened many, many times in history.

12.) 02 Nov 2020 02:02:34
I don't think edm does either nor do I believe Mathews should be traded. Not being open to discussion on everyone as a gm though is bad business.

13.) 02 Nov 2020 12:35:39
It’s Dubas’ job to ice the best team possible at all times. If a trade proposal for Matthews comes up that makes sense and unquestionably makes the Leafs a better team, Dubas absolutely has to at least consider it. It is literally his job. Failure to do so would be a major indictment against him.

No one should ever be considered “untradeable”. It would be a very closed-minded approach to doing business.

14.) 05 Nov 2020 18:51:07
Macleod he is not nearly as good as Kane and I doubt that Chicago would accept this this is lopsided for Toronto Chicago is way overpaying in this bug if I were the leafs this a great trade I would accept any day.

17 Feb 2019 19:15:10
TML: Connor Brown, 2019 4th rnd

EDM: jesse Puljujarvi

Brings down the cap a bit, we get another controlled player. We can bring up and down.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 19:41:04
I actually like this, if Edmonton would go for this. I think I’d try straight up first with Jesse for brown without the pick. Mostly due to the Connor connection and the fact Jesse basically asked to get out. But not opposed to giving the fourth if necessary.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 20:14:03
Push reply to soon.
The only problem I could see is that Puljujarvi is an RFA at seasons end. so what does he cost then?

3.) 17 Feb 2019 20:41:11
I agree, if Edmonton will take this Dubas should jump all over it.

However I have heard that Edmonton is asking for a lot if they do trade Puljujarvi, like a 1st rounder and a prospect. That's my understanding anyway.

Also Edmonton has been trying to clear cap space with their recent trades so I don't think they would take this because then they can't bring Sekera off LTIR.

4.) 18 Feb 2019 03:52:24
I like the idea of getting Jesse, but agree with themostleaf that the Oilers want to add scoring wingers but can't afford Brown's cap hit. An alternative might be: Ennis, Bracco.
This gives Oilers a winger who can slide right into their top 9 and is actually scoring at a higher rate then Brown. They get some cap relief at $625K for Tyler vs. $925K for Jesse. They also get a top prospect.
JP would replace Bracco on the Leafs depth chart and they can send him straight to the Marlies to start his development, he is only 20 YO so it is not too late to save this kid. Nice boost for the Marlies and maybe a good prospect for the Leafs next year starting on the 4th line and working his way up. Based on his performance in 3 wasted years in Edmonton his contract signing impact should be minimal.

5.) 18 Feb 2019 16:03:05
keep in mind that when Connor brown and Mcdavid played together in Erie, they had great chemistry, if I was Edmonton, I’d take the chance because the way the puljujarvi situation is headed, he is losing value. Personally I think this would be a win, win. Edmonton god even get the better of this deal, if puljujarvi didn’t get his development back on track.

6.) 18 Feb 2019 18:21:28
It’s so tempting to throw Edmonton something and take a chance of Puljujärvi. I know he looks promising still. But time is running out on this young man, and you really have to suspect that even if he becomes a full time nhl player, he will never reach his full potential he had when drafted. Once again, Edmonton rushed development, and probably ruined this poor kids opportunity to become a dominant power forward.

I like this move for a couple reasons. For one thing, Brown gets a better opportunity in Edmonton than Leafs can provide him. I like Brown, but he’s overpaid and underutilized on the 4th line, and Bracco and Moore both appear to be nhl ready, so we have a bit of a bottleneck at wing right now. Edmonton wants RW, and Brown most certainly is that.

I also like how we save a few bucks ourselves with this move. I understand Edmonton is looking to shed salary, but this move would be best made in off season anyway, as it does nothing to help us win the cup this year, and it’s next year that we need to start pinching pennies.

I know Edmonton says they are looking for 1st+ but I can’t possibly see them getting that or it would have happened already. It’s not like he’s a top rental that the playoff teams are wanting, and a re-building team probably wants to keep their own 1st. Besides, Gretzky probably wants to get this team turned around as quickly as possible. A contributing roster player makes more sense than a late 1st (next year) that wouldn’t be making the team for a few years at best, if ever.

Puljujärvi is looking more and more like Paajarvi, another big bust by Edmonton. It doesn’t seem like many of these projects coming out of Edmonton have ever really worked out for the receiving team. If history is any indication, Puljujarvi is probably not going to be much more than a depth guy now. A grinder type shut down type player that maybe can put a puck in the net every 10 games or so. At least he’s cheap, and I love his size.

7.) 18 Feb 2019 18:26:18
After this year you cannot bring him up and down anymore. Next year he is out of ELC so he must go through waivers. Then you have to have him on the roster. On Leafs roster he would 4th line or extra forward which is what he went through with EDM before he got sent down.

I know bad situation in EDM but even when he played he was underwhelming. Might be headed for bust territory. Time will tell.

If they want to trade Brown they can get a more established player be it D or F.

29 Jan 2019 22:20:44
I’d like to see the leafs go after a RD now.

Gardiner + Bracco for Faulk. our defence would be balanced. Don’t know if Carolina would accept this but I think I would be worth a shot

Reilly - Faulk
Muzzin - Zaitsev
Dermot - Hainsey.

1.) 30 Jan 2019 01:09:53
This is a definite maybe. Faulk isn’t a bad choice. He’s not a great choice either, but he would plug a hole that we need filled. Even though Faulk doesn’t have a huge price tag, I’m still not sure Leafs can afford Faulk after this season. We are already prepared to lose Gardiner to free agency because we can’t afford to re-sign him. And that was before bringing Muzzin in. It’s even tighter now. Any trades bringing salary in past this season would require a balance of salaries outgoing. It could happen in the off season I suppose. But that makes things a little more difficult, requiring extra movement of personnel, and might cost a lot more than expected as other teams know Leafs will be desperate to shed salary to squeeze under the cap.

2.) 30 Jan 2019 01:27:43
Still now must get rid of Zaitsev.

3.) 30 Jan 2019 01:31:29
The plan is to play Muzzin at RD with Rielly.

4.) 30 Jan 2019 04:45:37
After losing grundstrum and possibly one of johnson or kapanen I wouldn't want to trade bracco.

I’ve been on this site for a while, more than most. I don’t post often but this is one of the better proposals i’ve seen. I hate loosing marner. Arguably our best player, but its makes us stronger now and in the long run.

23 Jan 2018 03:08:01
The leafs need to stick to the plan and continue the rebuild. I've watched every game this year and they are still not ready for a deep playoff run.

Stock the pool,
JVR - To anyone that will pay 1st and a 2nd.
Bozak - To the pens 1st rnd pick (if Reeves can demand a 1st rounder so can bozie)
Gardiner - trade him in the Off season, easily get a first rounder and maybe more
Komarov - 2nd rounder

This will put us at the bottom of the league but it will help in the long run.
I don’t see these guys helping us get to the Cup finals. If we can get 3 future first rounders and 2 2nd rounders we will be laughing in 3/ 4 years.

04 May 2017 11:55:07
NYI: Pulock, 1st (15th) 2017,
Could add in a 2nd round 2018

(Del Cole has not been developing like the islanders want and they wasted a high pick on him. I feel they would ask too much for him. He was taken 5th overall and he's not even ranked in the top 30th of his draft year)

Leafs: JVR, Dermott or Tobias Lindberg

Draft targets for the 15th
- Cal Foot (ranked 18th)
- Nic Hague (ranked 14th could be picked in top 10 because of his size)
- Cale Makar
- Eeli Tolvanen (was ranked 8th but slipping because of his size, TSN said he could slip to 18th)
- Timothy Lijigren (ranked 12th right now) he could slip like chychrun

I like this draft year, there is a lot of hidden talent. We could come out like bandits if we could get NYI's pick. Plus we would still have our 17th round pick. This would bolster our defence for the future. Our only weak area would be Leftwing. Islanders could actually consider this to help JT sign long term.

I just want next season to start already!

1.) 05 May 2017 13:58:30
JVR gets at minimum, Pulock, the 1st and another prospect.

Anything less than that is just undervaluing JVR. Pulock is not that good, the 1st is a 15th (long after the quality players are gone) and even if you add the 2nd which would make this deal similar to Hanzal's (a 3rd/ 4th line center) JVR is much better than Hanzal.

It's still not enough. JVR is a 1st line LW on any team.

2.) 05 May 2017 17:47:54
You are right. JVR is worth more, It's hard to gauge how clubs value their prospect's. I can see JVR playing with the islanders.

(BARZEL could be untouchable in NYI eyes but could we pry him away? )

Islanders: Barzel, Anthony Beauvillier (LW), 1st 2017

Leafs: JVR, Jeremy Bracco.

We are loaded on the RW.
Needs: LW prospects, centre prospects, and 1# RHD. We will defiantly have to draft if we want a top D.

26 Dec 2016 05:09:53
Reading a lot of Cam Fowler proposal's.
we need a RHD and hes. LHD.
Plus his contract is up 2017-2018. same time as JVR's.
$6-7m+ season to resign

21 Dec 2016 20:41:13
I have been really focusing on Nylanders play this season and I have been defending him because he is a rookie plus he has out of this world talent but.
His compete level is nowhere near where it should be and he make more mistakes than he creates. If Babcock can't get through to him this year, then i'd say trade him for assets.

3 things must change in his game
- Do less with the puck
- Win puck battles
- Defense first

If he can be better in these three areas he w

Ive been screaming this since his name has popped up. The kid is one of a kind. Cost controlled, defensive player that wont cost an arm and a leg to keep long term and can chip in here and there.

It's hard to let him walk for nothing, but it's also hard to sign him @6M/ AVV.
If you look at the most productive lines in the NHL last season,

JVR BOZAK MARNER ranked 1st In goals for and 1st for goals against.

I'd say trade him for a 1st round pick and a 2nd Round pick.
