Both these guys suck. Sure, I would do this trade. Why not? Sustr is huge. Lievo can watch the game from Tampa’s press box and Sustr can watch the game from ours.

To Hurricanes: JVR
We're NOT winning the cup this year so trade JVR who We're not signing because he would want minimum 6 mill. And we have to pay Matthews, Nylander, and marner soon. Canes need more scoring and this trade doesn't effect their roster. Leafs get a 6'2 RHD man who has a chance to prove himself, a 6'4 C who can fit in into the bottom 6 center position when Bozak leaves. JVR can be replaced by either Leivo or Kapanen And we get a 1st round pick for another chance to get a good defenceman prospect. I would say this is a win-win trade for both teams.

Right on the money. Harmless deal with upside for both teams.

Canes will want a little more as any team would for any RHD. They are a commodity.
Take the opportunity to move a mid level prospect and gain a contract space while getting a late pick back. Smith is playing very well and his trade value is about the highest it's going to get.

Have you ever heard of salary cap? Leafs wouldn't be able to sign "the big 3" if that happened. And I'm not giving up Liljegren. I think focus more on RHD.
