Because there's no way you have in the year you sign doughty and karlsson doughty karlsson marner matthews nylander laine marleau and tavares under the cap nevermind everyone else you suggested.

I wasn’t going to comment on this because it’s so ridiculous, but then I got bored.
Aside from the obvious fact that we would never be able to afford all those players, the other truth of the matter is that we don’t need all those players. As the old saying goes, “too many chiefs, not enough Indiansâ€.
Everyone dreams of icing an all-star team, but the truth of the matter is that everyone on the team has a different role to play. If we iced a team like this, we wouldn’t have the role players and grinders who provide a team with depth by specializing in all the small things that make them so desirable outside of their offensive contributions.
It’s a nice thought. But Leafs pass on virtually everyone except one of the defensemen.

Saw a few verified accounts on Twitter tweet about a deal consisting of Marner, Gardiner, JVR, picks and prospects for P Kane and Seabrook.

Seabrook is done. They will have to buy him out soon, if they still can.
The cap hit alone, is reason not to do this trade.

A lot of you need to realize that we cannot be giving away our up and coming guys in order to land that top RHD. We are going to need guys like Kap, Leivo, Sosh, etc. for when we lose guys to free agency and injury if we ever want to win a cup with this core.

Exactly. That's why imo you need to trade the ufa's at the deadline. With the exception of either Moore or komarov as I think one needs to be our 4th line center. I like the goat but he just isn't ready yet or never will be.

Dermott - Carrick
Trades: JVR, Gauthier, 2018 2nd
Canes: McKeown, Roy, 2018 1st
Bozak, Martin, Polak
VGK: Lindberg, 2018 1st
Gets a 4C, two good prospects and have 3 1st's to add to the pool, giving up only a 2nd. Clears a ton of cap space (11M) and some contract spots.

Bozak gets you a 1st, especially a 30th OA, and fills the Knights need for a 3C. Martin and Polak are for depth and grit for a cup run. Lindberg is a 4LW for Vegas but showed well as 4C for the Rangers. Has good speed and would work well with Kapanen as a speedy 4th line.

I'd be satisfied with just getting a first and maybe a second or probably a third or fourth on that trade. Komarov can be the center on the fourth line and we have tons of wingers to play the left side on the fourth line. Sosh, Johansson, rychel (big body has some touch), grundstrom.

I agree with moving Martin. The leafs have out grown him. But that move won't happen to the off season as he's due a signing bonus do after we pay that out he's tradeable but he's bringing back a 6th or 7th.

Does everyone forget why we traded Schenn in the first place? How do you come up with the fact he is a reliable stay at home defender? The guy is trash and would not see any ice time on any other team.
