This would be a wild ride tonight V. Loov-S. Harrington-J. Gardiner-T. Lindberg to Edmonton for 4th pick and N. Yakupov for j. Gardiners salary Then--J. Lievo-K. Kapannen-T. Bozak-JVR-to Columbus for 3rd pick -J. Ramage Dman Then--3rd pick and B. Liepsic to Arizona--for Arizonas 7th and 20th in 1st round then with all that done the Leafs would have M. Tkachuk with Edm 4th pick and N. Yakupov J. Ramage Dman from Columbus Arizona 7th pick O. Juolevi or M. Sergachev Dmen--20th pick D. Fabbro Dman or G. Rubtosov C How cool would that all be LOL.

sign F. Anderson from Anahiam RFA to a 4yr 5.5 to 6 mill contract. Then trade J. Gardiner and S. Harrington and Pitts 1st pick #30 to Edmonton for their 4th pick 1st round and N. Yakupov, Edm really wants him gone. 1 yr left at 2.5 mill and only 22 maybe he likes Toronto. Then you have the 4th pick and you take Dubois or Tkackuk how nice would that look.

So Leafs give up a first round pick and a third round pick for compensation? Don't think so. Also they don't have their own third round picks the next two years so this isn't happening.

2.) 03 Jun 2016 02:11:04
Except now the defense which stands as 1 of our biggest flaws is even thinner. Even though it'd be great, also you can't just sign a RFA. ?

3.) 03 Jun 2016 04:21:11
Yeah we do have our third this year Chris . it's 2017 and 2018 that we don't. so it could work

4.) 03 Jun 2016 04:22:43
You can sign them to an offer sheet and the players home team has a week to match or take the draft pick compensation

5.) 03 Jun 2016 10:06:37
He is not an RFA until July 1st at which point we will not have our third anymore.

6.) 03 Jun 2016 13:30:31
Edmonton is not giving the 4th overall pick for Gardner and the 31st. Harrington has no value so i'm not even including him in the conversation.

7.) 03 Jun 2016 14:57:13
The first and third would have to be in the following year. Unless the Leafs and Lou make trades to reaquire their compensation picks there will be no RFA offer sheets from the Leafs. Sorry but that's the reality. AND next year's first pick will be a lottery pick. NOT going to happen unless they offer sheet EKBLAD next year.

JVR-Kadri-Nylander Komarov-Bozak-Hyman Soshnikov-Matthews-Marner Martin-Holland-Leivo Spares-Greening-Michalek-Laich Rielly-Hunwick Gardiner-Zaitsev Polak-Marincin Carrick-Corrado Anderson-Enroth This makes sense to me but what do you do with--Lupul--Rychel--Froese--Brown--they all deserve a shot and still have Timashov and Leipsic.

I think the Leafs 2016/ 2017 could look like this JVR-----Kadri-----Nylander Komorov-Bozak-----Lupul Martin--Mathews---Marner as three good solid lines then you will see a mix of players for the 4th line Hyman--Greening--Soshnikov--Rychle--Laich--Michalek-those that do not play to Marlies Defense Rielly----Zaitsev Gardiner--Hunwick Polak-----Carrado Marincin--Carrick Goal Anderson--Enroth There are so many young players in the leafs system now and they all can not play today which will make the Marlies a great team again this year. I do think next year this will be a very young team to much talent to hold them all back--Dermott--Bracco--Brown--Johnson--Moore--Nielson--and keep your eyes on Timashov this kid is for real.

Leafs should go after Hutcheson from Winnipeg for a second round draft pick in 2017 and maybe a Marlie forward that will never make the Leafs. He would be a great back up from Barrie, Winnipeg has to get rid of one of their goalies.

The Jets would want more than a 2nd for Hutch or a top prospect and the Leafs wouldn't do that.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 17:37:50
islandjet what makes you think for one minute that they would not make that trade if you follow hockey you will remember just a month ago on draft day Calgary traded for Elliot for a 35th pick a 2nd rounder and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2017. I don't think Hutcheson is in the same league as Elliot do you??

3.) 14 Jul 2016 20:00:42
The Jets will not panic about losing Hutcheson in the draft. They will most likely lose a forward. Chevy only deals from strength and will try to dump Pavelec first. Hutcheson will be a good #2 until Comrie is ready to move up then they have the luxury to trade Hutch or even Hellebuyck.

4.) 16 Jul 2016 16:35:04
The Jets will lose a goalie as they have four that are not exempt(Pavelec, Hutch, Phillips, and Hellebuyck). We assume Phillips is safe. Vegas will pick the 3 best goalies they can get before they consider other positions. So the Jets will lose one of Hutch or Helly as they are pretty good.

The Leafs, however, will not trade for a goalie(unless there's a cap dump involved - You know who). They will either sign an expendable free agent backup(maybe Enstrom) or sign an exempt goalie.

JVR---------Kadri-------Nylander Soshnikov---Mathews-----Marner Komorov-----Bozak-------Hyman Rychel------Holland-----Greening spares------Laich-------Michalek Defense-----Rielly------Carrick ------------Gardiner----Marincin--------------------------Zaitsev-----Hunwick---------------------------Corrado-----Loov------------------Goal--------Anderson----Bernier---------------I think this could be the starting line-up baring any trades or free agent signings.

If Arizona really offers up C. Dvorack and both of their first round picks to the Leafs, for the 1st o/ a pick the Leafs would be crazy not to take that deal. C. Dvorack might not be A. Mathews but man he is a really good player, a future 1st or at least a 2nd line player in the NHL, and then you still have a 7th pick and a 20th pick in the 1st round. With the 7th you would have a shot at getting L. Brown center, T. Jost centre, A. Nylander winger all top six forwards in the near future. With the 20th pick you could land M. Jones, L. Stanley or the 2nd rated player from euro G. Rubtsov. this deal might not land you that stud center but I think with what you already have on the Leafs it makes the team very deep with good young talent. Just my thoughts what do you think. Buy the way I will not be upset if the Leafs take Mathews with the 1st pick he will be a stud for sure.

Totally agree mattews is good yes

But what I like even more then mattews is a chance at getting

The london knights line of
Davork, Marner, and try to get
Tkacuck in the Draft

The line had 344. Points in 57 games in the ohl

they will send Marner to Europe before they start him on the fourth line and he will not play centre winger on the second line maybe the third at worst

I agree but I think they should really keep Greening I thought he played pretty good hockey after he got into some games and he has an edge if he needs to stand up for some of his younger team mates
