So yesterday Pierre Lebrun tweeted out that the Leafs and Kings were in heavy trade talks involving Doughty. Did anyone else see this? Listen Leafs Nation if there is anyone worth getting its Doughty. God only knows what the price would be or if it's worth going down that road however it's really intriguing to say the least. He's only 27 and still has two years on his deal and maybe the Kings are going to rebuild somewhat now that Sutter and Lombardi are gone. Either way what do you guys and gals think it would take to get him? ?

Way to much if you ask me
If I were LA i'd want
Nylander
Gardiner
Dermott
1st round pick
2nd round pick.

2.) 27 Apr 2017 23:37:45
I were LA I would ask for Mitch Marner +. Anyways this won't go anywhere.

3.) 28 Apr 2017 00:23:41
You would have to start with Marner or Nylander and +++. No way leafs do that. Just stick with the plan.

4.) 28 Apr 2017 02:53:49
That was a tweet from Lebrun's old twitter handle. He is no longer at ESPN and someone took the handle right away. Doughty is not coming.

5.) 28 Apr 2017 16:50:12
Funny how this alleged tweeet doesn't appear on Lebrun's Twitter feed.

Tor. Greiss

NYI. Holland and a fourth rounder

Here's the thing. the Isles just resigned their other young goalie to back up Halak so this might work. I think my value isn't too way off and Greiss only has one year left at 2 mil. I think it's reasonable and Greiss was dynamite last year. I think he would be an excellent backup to Anderson. ok let me have it!

Leafs need a goalie and Holland is a odd man out. I'd try not to trade draft picks but I like where you are at

2.) 13 Jul 2016 23:50:26
Greiss had an impressive year on the island.

The trade is good except Greiss would be UFA after the year and can't be used as the required goalie offered as sacrifice to the gods of competitiveness and impatience at the Vegas Pyramid.

So maybe extend him a year as a condition of the deal. That way we are covered on all three fronts for the required sacrifices.

This is for lab16 and all my other friends on here who say I hardly ever post. lol. which is somewhat true

To Leafs: Seth Jones

To Bluejackets: William Nylander JVR & Percy

Maybe it's a slight overpayment on our part but I think Rielly and Jones would be awesome here for the next 10 plus years!. what do guys think?

Jimmy Ham Sandy

1.) 24 Jun 2016 00:11:51
I think Boston is going to offer sheet 9.3 m for Jones. that's 4 first rounders folks . that's what it's going to take.

Yes, Jones and Reilly would be great but The Jackets aren't dealing him. They will only Lose him via offer sheet

2.) 24 Jun 2016 00:16:21
I'm sorry pal but that is an awful trade. I may overvalue jvr from time to time but I would maybe swap them one for one. That is a massive overpayment. Horrible trade. I would ask for Jones (preferably Murray) and a least the third overall picl

3.) 24 Jun 2016 00:32:51
Slight ovepayment that's a huge overpayment

4.) 24 Jun 2016 06:53:22
I respectfully disagree. I think it would be well worth it especially if Jones truly does turn out to be that stud right shot dman that many people think he's turning into. I think sometimes we all value offence more than we value defence. just saying. if we had Jones back there with Rielly and then Zaitsev turns into a decent second pairing guy with Gards we would have a start of a great d core. we'll just my humble opinion.

5.) 24 Jun 2016 21:44:40
The Jackets will not trade Seth.

The 21 yr old kid has almost all of the skills you could ask for, already at a decent level. His flaws are that his offense is not there yet, and that he has the speed and frame of a #1 shutdown D, but doesn't use it effectively (That argument can actually be made of JVR as a power forward).

His development is right on schedule. Powerful, but inaccurate slap shot. Note: Theodore went 26th in Seth's draft year (go figure; the Leafs took the goat) and the other D's selected behind Seth have not yet produced to elite levels expected of them.

Boston Bruins: A absurd 21 M in cap space. I think even the Bruins learned what happens when you blindly give up 1st's; and they were on the winning side of the deal. So that won't happen, but if anyone could do it, it would be them, Arizona or Carolina to name a few.

Is Seth a generational or franchise D(Pronger type). Remains to be seen, but I doubt it. However, he will be close to that.

The Leafs won't do the deal because they would be giving up on everyone's favorite Smurf.

The Leafs will not want to pay Seth's salary demands at this point, which will probably be 6-9 M. Nor can they afford him this year.

So no the trade won't go through.

The deal doesn't solve CBJ's main problem or getting rid of the old guys on 4 or 5 yr contracts. If they can get rid of them, they could then do a deal of this type.

The money constraints will quash this as well.

Given all that:

Would I make this trade. Yes. Seth's talents are now a known item (he is not a draft choice).

I am not a Nylander fan, Percy will be a 5/6 Dman somewhere, and JVR is in the last period of his career (time to trade him), and doesn't fit the Leafs rebuild schedule, although it seems to be accelerating these days.

JVR is a 2nd OA and would normally demand a player and a pick, but Seth is a higher grade of D at 4th OA and that is on the rare side for D's, so the pick would be waived.

If straight up, the deal is still lopsided. Seth will have 6 more years of service over JVR, so I would give up JVR and the Washington 2nd + Percy. I would keep the Smurf for another deal if he has some NHL success.

Big shutdown D's are as hard to get as offensive D's. But they are normally cheaper (not the case here).

This for my Doritos buddy HPM who keeps giving me a hard time and also to my favorite critic lab 16 who says I'm a hypocrite and know nothing about hockey. so here goes my first post.

Leafs Vaselevsky

Tampa Gardiner and our late second in 16

Generally I may be inclined to think we're overpaying slightly but I think this kid could be great. he's 6*3 very athletic and only 21. he could grow with our young core and be our stud in net in the future. so I'm ok with a slight overpayment. thoughts?

First Post?

It's too early for them to deal him. If they deal him, it will be at the expansion draft or trade deadline at the earliest, he's still on an entry level contract and good for their bleak cap outlook.

Tampa may not want a D, because they have a lot already invested there(6 players, 25 M for 16-17), and more coming up. They do need a LW, but the Leafs have nothing to give there except JVR and that would change the scope of the deal.

It's also hard to invest in a goalie until they've played 3 or 4 full seasons, and you don't see too much return for just a goalie these days.

I like the deal but I don't think Tampa would do it right now.

I wonder if we could trade Bozak and a late 2nd for Drouin (yet to deliver).

2.) 18 May 2016 00:20:47
Stevie Y is smarter that that. this goalie is a good one. keep posting let's keep this site fun!

How about kapenen caps 2nd bibeau pens 1st for vaselevsky?

Maybe third line center. We already have a wicked second line center on a great contract

Sorry David it's not enough. The second probably needs to be a first and you need a better prospect going the other way instead of Timoshov to even have a chance to do this deal. I'm not quite sure that us Leaf fans understand how good Lindholm actually is. He's an incredible defender.

I don't think this gets you anywhere Lindholm. If it did it would be done already and Murray would be fired

Ummm nope. JVR will be gone by the summer at the Latest and not resigned and the Ducks will probably trade either Lindholm or Fowler by the summer too because they can't afford everyone. Don't forget Fowler needs to get paid soon and the Ducks aren't generally a cap team. The proposal is a good one in theory except we're not giving enough quality to get Lindholm. Btw. good luck to them getting rid of Bieksa
