Nylander plays with his brother, Strome may be the perfect third line centre, still young enough to have a bounce back season and is a hometown boy with some size .. play kerfoot on the wing with vesey .. Murphy is a big body 2 way right handed dman. Helps with salary and allows us to resign Dermott and Mikheyev.

I like the deal. The Leafs are giving up the best player in Nylander by far, but solid package in return. Strome will need a new deal.

Now that DeHaan is gone, I don’t think Carolina downgrades to the more expensive Zaitsev, even with Kadri included. They already have Aho, Necas, and Staal, so don’t need Kadri.
I like your lineups. It looks like a solid team. Your signings all look pretty close to expectations. I think you did a real solid job here.

With the acquisition of Marleau, one of JVR, Komarov, or Martin must be traded .. Period. They have a surplus of wingers and have absolutely no choice, plus they wouldn't scratch hyman after the season he had with Matthews .. Imo I think they should go ahead and deal Komarov now and wait it off with JVR, play until the deadline and see where you are at the standings .. Martin is still young and has a ton of grit In his game. Komarov has an expiring contract and won't serve as too much of a loss compared to JVR.

I think your right someone has to go. The question is how do you get a top 4 defenceman back in a trade. Komarov doesn't bring back much so Toronto would need to add young prospects a leivo rychel and Komarov.

32 pts for a 3rd line LW/ C/ RW who checks like him is a steal for most teams. But Vegas will want younger. Wrong team. And I don't think the Leafs want to trade him. Way too versatile to give up right now at only 3M.
Marincin is a 25 year old LHD. He's big, but otherwise has little value. He needs to go to a team that is short in D, that believe he can move his career forward with them; that he has been held back in his previous dev. Oh crap! A trip down memory lane!
Maybe Colorado, for a 3rd - their left D is a disaster.

I think this works out perfectly .. Leafs get a nice top 4 dman, high end prospect that knows marner very well, and a veteran winger that adds leadership and experience. Ducks get a high end roster player to bolster there offence, mid end top 6 dman, young skilled prospect, and a second.

A good mix of old and young, I think the 3rd line makes sense with Matthews starting as the number 3 centre make him work for it, lupul assuming he stays healthy is a great team player and a good presence with a scoring touch, brown is the best underrated player on this team in my opinion (aside from JVR) let me know what you all think.

Gybra is actually a nice choice for a cheap FA. He had a +/- of zero on the the leagues worst defence, where most all had -ve's. And he's a big stay at home type.

One thing that I've noticed in most posts is the lack of excitement for Connor Brown, he seems to be one of the more underrated prospects on the team! I seriously think this kid is going to tear it up . Skill, defensive upside, great character guy, and a hometown kid of course! Mark my words, he will end up finishing next season as the leafs top line right winger along side Kadri and JVR.

I like the Backes idea, I think he'd fit well I just don't know how Kadri would react playing third line centre to start the season, might work out well but well see! I wouldn't have marner as our number one RW, I'd make him work for it! . I like the Bozak trade, but I think were overpaying with the Tampa trade! I don't feel as if were benefitting at all, I'd stick with the goalies we have for now! Sparks has potential, make him play a full season and go from there! Drafting a goalie this year would be essential as well.

I would actually approve of this trade! Vanes may work out well under Babs and Dumba would be a great fit! They need another young top 4 d-man! Probably would never happen, and very unrealistic but I like it.
