Promote Dermott to play with Barrie
Duchene plays with Marner
JVR can be part of deal with them giving us Landeskog, we can throw in 2nd

Thats 11M the Leafs have to cover. I'm pretty sure that's not what Lou has in mind for his 13M.
There's no reason to take Beach's contract at all. Lou won't trade the pick, and Gardiner and Carrick is not enough to balance Duchesne and Barrie even with the pick that Lou will never give up.
Just remember, one of the Leafs new strength's is it's scouting staff under Hunter. Trading away draft picks doesn't help.
The deal just creates a pair of holes on D to fill one.
No Thanks. Just because the Leafs have a boat load of cap doesn't mean the deals don't have to be balanced.

D for D no holes, Leafs are looking at signing top D out of Ohio State, kid from Edmonton
Throw in one of 2 second picks, Kapenan, Leipsic, does not matter, no room on forward lines for a couple of years.

That top d from Ohio state is an unproven nobody at this point. marincin has a more established nhl career. Also this isn't new Jersey. Also, look at how things ended in nj for lou and kovalchuk. Also this is a rebuild, you don't just throw away picks like kapanen for nothing.

Avs owner does not like being a high cap team
You don't need young players, you have plenty of them, trade for players with existing contracts with term that you can trade in a couple years from now for more young players to complement what you already have.
Go big right now, you can offer more than Montreal or Pittsburgh because you will be offering a better first round pick.

Let montreal and pittsburgh offer the world, their cores are much older than ours. Toronto cannot compete with pittsburgh for a couple years yet imo.

There are no top 2 D out there that are available, only a bunch of 3's and 4's. Work on building your forward depth and quality.

Duchene is perfect fit, where are those prospects going to play? Top 9 is filled for 5 years besides Bozak.
Who is Kapanen replacing, or leipsec. Soshnickov is getting 4th line time and waiting. Bracco, maybe one can take JVR spot or Landeskog with Duchene
Barrie with Dermott is better second pairing.

Everyone overrates the D, they are no better then what we have. After Letang, name the Pittsburgh D.
Dermott will be ready next year.
