Both prospects need a change of scenery imo. Could jost make the leafs next year? Bracco may do well in a bottom 6 role with the avs

Is Jost a better 3C than Kerfoot? Debateable. And Gauthier is a perfect 4C as far as I’m concerned.
You’re moving an AHL player for an nhl player that we don’t really need. Given the expansion draft next year, this adds another player onto our roster that we can’t protect.
I like Jost and I like Bracco. Right now we don’t really need either. If Jost had a higher ceiling, maybe. But neither one of these guys has much upside at this point. It’s a depth move at best. But if we do that, we should be moving a forward for a defenseman. We will probably be losing at least two, if not three, next year to UFA.

I'm not sure how close value is, but keith would be a key contributor on the back end, and schmaltz can replace nylander in a lesser role.
For Chicago, they get younger and faster, while adding a draft pick. Nylander should regain his old form, and Rosen gives them a fill in for an aging Keith.

Nick schmaltz plays for arizona.
Duncan keith is a solid dman but is older and his cap hit and years of that cap hit would really hurt the leafs moving forward.

Too late for Schmaltz, but Strome is looking good. That would be a helluva upgrade for Chicago to get Nylander over Strome, and lose Keith’s contract at the same time. I can’t see how they would refuse this.
Leafs could be big winners if Strome actually breaks out for our team. We would be able to re-sign him cheap, and end up with a guy getting 50-60 points for $3M a year. Both he and Kapanen would be in that category. Not a bad situation for Leafs.

Trading a 22 year old Nylander for a 35 year old Dunca Keith is one of the worst ideas I have read on a site that is full of terrible trades!

Seems like an underwhelming return for nylander. I know everyone hates on him, but he still holds good value.
I also do not know much about groulx. Anyone have a scouting report?

First thing. this puts the leafs over the cap.
Secondly. the leafs should not give up their first this year especially for bennet, unless they are getting a longer term cost controlled asset. Remember they have to sign Hyman after the ED. I'll take hyman over bennet any day.
In all honesty, I like the team how it is. Let's get Simmonds back and let Matthews heal 100%.

If gusev doesn't perform, put in engvall on the 4th line and try Ritchie at 3rd. I have high Hopes for ho-sang but history says he doesn't have what it takes. Hopefully kase can stay healthy.
I hope dubs trades rielly before the deadline, recoup draft picks or find another Lhd for 5mil or less that can play 1st line minutes.
I was hoping that the leafs were able to pick up brayden Schneider as a replacement. Cupboard is getting thin as far as prospects go.

Leafs average shots against per game last season was 31.8. Far cry from 100 lol :)
