If the leafs are moving on from Willy there return should be what PLD went for.

I dont think Willy is as valuable as PLD. One of the reasons LA paid that much is the contract he signed. 8x8.5 is pretty good for a 2C that could be a 1C if he applies himself. Juxtapose that with Nylander. Willy wants 10+ and probably isn't willing to move off of that number.

PMD is Ryan johansen all over again. Same type deal same term


Both had a shortened season in 1st 3 years either by lockout or c.v..

Both played 1 extra year in jr after draft after getting drafted by Columbus
Ryan 6’3 218 C
Pierre 6’2 205 C

Best year of ELC contract
33g 63 pts 82gms RJ
27 g 61 pts 82gms PMD

Ryan got 4X3 from Columbus and 2 year later dealt
Pierre got 5X2 from Columbus and dealt that year
Pierre got 6X1 from Winnipeg and dealt following year

Ryan had 3 60+point seasons with 26 g and 71pts being his best year of the 3
Pierre had 2 60+ point seasons with 28g one year and 63pts other year being his best output in the 3 years

Ryan got 8X8 after his first 6 years
Pierre got 8.5X8 after his first 6 years

If it wasn’t for Dubois having kopitar taking pressure off him to start this contract I think he’d project to be as bad as johansen was during the length of his big contract.

Guess only time will tell which player has a better career.
