Now I read an article and what was said in the article I agree with. I think a guy that should get a PTO contract and work hard in training camp and in pre-season is James Neal. He’s a hometown kid, he had a great season in 2019-2020 averaging 31 points in 55 games which isn’t bad at all. Him playing on a fourth line with Simmonds and Spezza would be great because he could be playing with guys that have the same playing style as him and he has had chemistry with Simmonds in the past I believe. To make it happen a guy like Mikheyev, Engvall and Dermott would have to traded and I wouldn’t mind that because if you get rid of all three of them and sign neal and a defensemen then I guarantee you our team could be set for the season. Neal can jump up and down the line up so having him for a season wouldn’t be bad at all and I think this is something that the leafs should consider doing.

19-20 is when he played beside McDavid and lit it up for a bit. In what world does that make him a good player?
Even at league min I would rather see a guy like Brooks than Neal.
Why do you hate Mikheyev, Dermott and Engvall so much? Every post of yours is saying something along the lines of "all Dubas needs to do is trade these 3". Sometimes Kerfoot is included in the bigger deals but usually just those 3.

The issue with Neal is all that booger sugar. Probably don’t want him getting matthews and marner hooked on that the way he did Johnny in Calgary.

@leafslife they might get one good year out of it, ahem gaudreau, but it’s hard to keep up that lifestyle.

I know we don’t have cap space at all and we can’t afford players. That’s why Toronto should trade Engvall, Mikheyev, Dermott, Kerfoot and get a top 6 forward and a bottom pairing defensemen just like a Bogosian type of player.

Envall, Mikheyev and Dermott all make $1.65 or less, so not much cap room there unless you trade all 3 for picks/ prospects. Kerfoot is about the only player at $3.5 you may save cap, but he isn't getting you a quality top 6 that makes less than he does.

I can see the leafs maybe trading a guy like engvall and maybe Mikheyev for some draft capital I said it before the leafs should target ltir and rackell who only make 200k more then kerfoot.

Does anyone know if the leafs are still going to sign or even trade guys away. I’ve been thinking a lot about guys the leafs should go and get. On defense I would sign Demers, Vatenan, Chara, Gudbranson. For forwards I would sign Cizikas, Palmieri, Tatar and I would trade for Domi, Bertuzzi, DeBrusk and
Evander kane.

4 nhl contracts remain
Most gms keep a contract or 2 available in case of injury as LTIR counts as a contract I believe so if if a gm fills out all 50 nhl contact spots and doesn’t like what his available farm option are he now has to make a trade to gain a spit and other gms will rip u off once they sense desperation.
So keep 2 spots open it’s good buisness
As for trades who knows. August is the dog mo th for deals. Everyone vacations and starts getting into the season in September.
To in short yeah they could sign a fee or make a trade but don’t bet on it because most phones don’t get answered in august.

E Kane? The last thing we need is E Kane. His own teammates don't even want anything to do with him. No desire for Domi either.
We have no money left to sign anyone that is an NHL player. Bertuzzi if healthy and Debrusk are solid trade targets.

I think maybe if you add Manson and Dermott in those deals I would take it but right now for that trade straight up I wouldn’t. I believe Kerfoot and Dermott will be traded together and I think the leafs need to get a player who is exactly like Bogosian to replace him in the bottom pairing on defence. Demers could work if they have cap to sign him or Chara or even in the trade market. As long if we can get someone good on any team to help with the top 6 it would be great.
