Ari: Strome, Crouse
Whomever think is too little swap out a 1st for the 2nd.
Strome loves T.O. and wanted to be here when asked in the draft. Crouse is solid and large.

To date Strome and Crouse have both been busts. You want to give Nylander, Leafs 2nd best right winger, Gardner, Leafs 2nd best defenseman, Bracco a B prospect and a 2nd (perhaps 1st round pick) for them?

Crouse is huge. Not sure how solid he is. Maybe a decent 4th liner for now, but not much higher ceiling than that I would think. Strome isn’t looking much good either. Again, he would only be 4C at best on the Leafs.
No way Leafs make this trade. Unless we are getting a top end, high caliber prospect player back in return, Nylander stays put.

I said it before and I will say it again. Dubas will not make anymore moves unless an absolute steal comes his way. He will go with the lineup he has and make decisions going into the trade deadline. He won't do anything more now out of respect for Tavares. I guarantee!

How is making a trade to improve team disrespecting Tavares?
I can guarantee that Tavares is smart enough to know that the current defence group is not good enough to win a cup.
But yes, it makes more sense not to overpay now, with teams knowing its the Leafs weakness. The prices will be higher.
Also, we need to see if and of the young guys are closer at training camp.

From the looks of thigs I think Dubas won't be making a move anytime soon. Unless something falls into his lap like a RHD which is to good to pass up I wouldn't bet on anything. Pesce costs too much, Trouba arbitration will be accepted and traded at the deadline. Dubas will take his chances on what we have and decide by December.

We already made a major splash acquiring Tavares. I think if Dubas does nothing else all summer except maybe a few minor tweaks, we should be happy. I suspect you are correct here in that we enter the season with what we got, and will likely be deadlines buyers, if the price is right.

Here’s the thing, the basis for Marner’s asking price is comparison to Mathews. No where else in the league will he be able to do this. He may get a lucrative contract but it will be based on comparables such as Kucherov at $9.5/ 8yrs, Kane @$10/ yr etc. Does anyone including Marner think he would be better off dealing with another team? It is in his best interest to stay, period. Dubas should give the ultimatum of $10.5/ 8yrs by July whatever or wait for an offer sheet and let him fly, or trade him if he won’t sign.

Not the biggest Mathews fan. Don’t get me wrong, he’s awesome but I would much rather have a McDavid as the teams go to. That being said, I think MacKinnon for Mathews straight up is a severely one sided trade!

I just read that Willie is stuck at $8mil where Pastrnak is at $6.6 and signed that when he scored 34 for 70pts. Willie had 20 goals and 61 pts. Give your head a shake, Willie!

I can get behind this. I don’t see the fascination with Will. He isn’t an $8.5 mil player. We can get someone half that cost who will excel on this team. After the Habs game it is clear that we need a solid top 2 defense. Gardiner gave too many away and Willie would NOT have made a difference which is what stands out to me.
