How about straight up 1 for 1:
To ANA: James Van Riemsdyk(LW)
To TOR: Josh Manson(RHD)
This allows ANA to stay with the 7-3-1 so they don't lose Jakob Silfverberg in the expansion draft. The Leafs get a solidified top 4 on D (Gardiner, Rielly, Zaitsev, Manson). We still get to keep our draft pick so we can get Cal Foote 😉.

Hahaha. JvR is worth Manson +++, that would be a huge loss for Leafs. I'm guessing you're thinking about the Hall for Larson deal, but that trade had merit. This trade is jus stupid.

The leafs need to sign alzner at 6 mil for 4 yrs. then trade Gardner and a package of picks or prospects to Anaheim for Vatanen.
Sign Stone and bring up dermit or Neilson
Reilly vatanen
Alzner zaitsev

I agree with you bowser, I think he'd make a great pairing with Rielly, he also makes Polak less of a loss if he goes bc if I'm correct josh Manson was 14 in the league in hits. I envision our D lineup looking something like this:

Gardiner-Zaitsev
Butcher/ Nielsen? -Foote?
Will Butcher was this years Hobey Baker Award winner, he is a LHD and he's in a similar situation to Vesey last year as a team still has his rights from drafting him (Colorado) but he will soon become a free agent. Nielsen is on the Marlies and I see him coming before Dermott bc of his size. Foote is a RHD draft prospect who envision as a good no. 2 defence man in his prime but I'm hoping due to him being considered te "safe pick" that he could slide right in on the third D pairing or he could play top line minutes on the Marlies.

A first line LW for a 3rd line Dman? Just because he's playing 1st line for the playoffs doesn't mean he belongs there. He's there only because of injuries.

JvR for Manson and a 2nd maybe or a good prospect, which Anaheim doesn't have much of.
JvR is very valuable I don't know why everyone thinks otherwise. He's one of the best in tight areas around the net, that's a hot commodity in today's NHL.
I absolutely agree JvR may be trade down and ia probably our best hope of getting a top 4 D in return, but unless it's worth it we will jus be sitting here wishing we had JvR again.

How about:
To Wild: Kapanen, 2017 1st Rd pick(17 ovrl)
To us: Brodin OR Dumba
Notes- I think this could work due to the fact that the Wild along with the Ducks are in a tough spot with the upcoming expansion draft. The Wild will likely protect Suter, Spurgeon and one of Dumba or Brodin and whichever they want more we'll let them keep and we'll take the other. This is all assuming that they take the 7-3-1 approach as opposed to 8-1. 8-1 would force them to make available a forward such as Charlie Coyle. This deal gives them a good return with a young expansion draft-exempt winger and a good pick where they could perhaps get Cal Foote to replace Matt Dumba.

I feel like this is overpaying but I also think this is what it'll come down to. I'd rather give up JVR for someone of less value. Giving up Kapanen would come back to bite us later I think.
