Habs could use a few centers following the injuries of Galchenyuk/ Desharnais. Enter the leafs (I know they are a divisional rival, but this is not a blockbuster trade - atleast I hope its not) .

MON
Peter Holland
Frank Corrado (Its clear Babcock doesn't want to play him)

TOR
Brett Lernout (6'4 -215, 21YO, RHD)
2018 Cond' 5th RP (Condition: Holland scores 10 goals through 16-17 AND Corrado plays 25 games, otherwise nothing)

MON gets two decent players that can fit into thier lineup immediately and can help them in their playoff/ president's trophy run. TOR gets much needed roster spots (albeit AHL) for their forwards. Win win.

Also, Babcock and Nylander are probably laughing their asses off at how easy it is to manipulate the shitty Toronto media. He gets relegated to the fourth line for a couple games (and btw every team uses this technique) and everyone thinks he's a bust. He isn't going anywhere, heck babs might have to leave before he does. Are people forgetting he was the second best prospect (behind Rielly) in the leafs system two years ago? The bottom line is marner and matthews seem to overshadow nylander's success but that doesn't mean he's a bad player. He will still be a star player in the league and the leafs can't afford to lose him.

Nylander is a 3rd year pro-hockey player. Some people on this sight think his Calder status has any relevant meaning. Go count the number of pro games in the SHL, AHL, and now NHL.

He should already know how to play a two way game to perfection.

He is lazy, doesn't hit, doesn't back check, doesn't block shots, and floats around being useless when he doesn't have the puck.

Now his offense is currently gone. He is O for every category in December, and produced very little in November.

He doesn't make players better around him; he leaches on his team for his production. He is invisible in games. He has an attitude problem.

He is a Nonis pick, and Hunter would never have picked him until the 2nd or 3rd round, if at all.

Class A chicken Swede. It doesn't matter if he gets 50 goals, it's what he doesn't do that hurts the team at a greater rate, than the goals he scores.

Trade him before he loses all value.

First, if a team wanted Holland they could have claimed him off waivers for free.

Second, who cares if Nylander was the second best prospect two years ago? That is a moronic argument. Things change and players are supposed to progress. Too often Nylander looks uninterested out there. It is his lack of work ethic that Babcock has issues with and if that doesn't change, he will be traded. If he starts working, he stays.

@Lab, you have got to be one of the most ridiculous people posting here. I'm always baffled talking to fans like you.

I remember 2 years ago a moron I worked with ranted about Kadri the same way. His trade proposals were ludicrous, going as far as suggesting he be traded for Kevin Bieksa, who he considered an incredible dman.

While I don't suggest never trading Nylander, I do agree with gglife and nazeemthedream that trading a 20 year old prospect with his talent is a mistake. Let him try to figure it out. 3 years of pro hockey is not a good sample size. Thinking like yours is what got the Leafs in this mess in the first place.

Nylander has had more than three years of pro hockey because he played professionally in Sweden as a teenager. You also have to remember that his Dad was an NHL player. His time spent in pro hockey and his Dad's influence should have taught him how much work is involved. If he hasn't figured that out by now how long do the Leafs wait for him to figure it out?

At the 2015 NHL Draft, the leafs asked for the #8,34,38,58 for their own #4 pick. Columbus who held all those picks, almost made the trade but ended up taking the risk. The take away here is that, the price to move up in the draft, especially the top 5 (let alone 1st OA) was/ is extremely high. This year, this is no way a deal could exist for Matthews without cripling the financially struggling Coyotes. So 'nuff with the Matthews to Arizona stuff.

On a different note, here is something that could work for the leafs:

TOR
#15th OA

MIN
#30, #72 (in '16)
Rights to P. Holland

Minesota needs picks. Plain and simple. They only have four picks in the whole draft (two of which are in the 7th round) . This works for both teams because Minesota still get a first rounder and Peter Holland can contribute to the Wild right away; not to mention he has played for Boudreau too. For Toronto, they have Kadri, Bozak, Nylander, Matthews and Stamkos (ahaa) at center, so they have no room for him. Also the leafs already have the quantity, now this enables them to get quality.

Thoughts?

Still not enough for the 15th overall. The leafs will still have to offer atleast one 2nd rounder and probably more

2.) 18 Jun 2016 09:39:53
Not nearly enough. moving up in draft is expensive.

3.) 18 Jun 2016 11:48:54
Guess it all matters on what value you apply to Holland. Last year the Leafs moved back from the 24th pick to the 29th and picked up the 61st pick in that move. So moving up 5 spots cost a high 3rd pick. Could you trade Holland for a 3rd pick? That way you would be essentially trading 2 3rd's to move up 15 spots.

4.) 18 Jun 2016 22:22:15
Bozak instead of Holland would make more sense but the Leafs would have to add more.

BTW the CBJ didn't "almost" make that trade. They considered it but rejected it pretty quickly.

DAL

PAP
M. Grabner

TOR

N. Hansson (Def prospect)
V. Fiddler
2017 third round pick

Dal is loaded with D prospects. They badly need PK help, which grabner provides. Also they upgrade their roster with PAP without giving too much up. Fiddler is just cap dump, could be replaced with someone else.

SJS

Roman Polak
James Reimer
Antione Bibeau
2016 COL 4th round Pick

TOR
Alex Stalock
Mirco Mueller or Jeremy Roy
2016 Second Round Pick

Here me out: SJ has virtually no goaltender prospects so they get decent one. They also upgrade in net by acquiring riems and now have a solid tandem. They also get a top four/ six servicable d-man who is a solid penalty killer for their cup run. Also they get a decent pick too. In return, Toronto upgrades to a second round pick (better than having 2 lower round picks, imo) and attains a very good prospect.

Polak and Reimer alone in separate deals get us a second and third rounder. No thank you.

If Anderson can play like the way he played in Anaheim, its more than just a steal for the leafs. Also, hearing that he already signed a five year extension with the leafs; If the $$ is right (~5 mil), Lou should get arrested lol.

I like it, although I think leafs still have to add. Pherhaps a NHL ready body like Holland. Also, if we take on Vaneks salary, lupul has to go the other way, which complicates things.

Lol did you even bother to read the whole thing? This person clearly admitted he was joking and just having fun. Why are you spoiling the fun? If you think it's ludicrous, just hit unbelievable and keep scrolling. Sometimes you just act like a pretentious fuck man. Chill out a little.

So who's going to play defence? Komarov or Bibeau? And while you're at it put Lou in net.
