Minnesota considering buying Vanek out.

TOR: Vanek, Dumba, 15th overall

MIN: Kapanen, Percy, Leipsic, 30th overall, 60th overall

Reasoning: although this may be far fetched considering Vanek will have to waive his no trade clause, Toronto could trade Vanek at the deadline retaining half of his salary to a contender. I'd be all in for Vanek and Dumba but if figure I throw in Minnesotas 1st to make things interesting. Despite minny giving up the 15th, they gain 2 draft picks in the first and second round. It also clears space for minny to sign okposo.

I like it, although I think leafs still have to add. Pherhaps a NHL ready body like Holland. Also, if we take on Vaneks salary, lupul has to go the other way, which complicates things.

I agree there is definately a deal to be had with Minnesota who are in cap trouble and short on picks this year.

Trouble is that Vanek has a full NMC and I find it hard to believe he'd 'accept' a trade to the Leafs.

Lets see if Lou can cook up a nice deal with Minny!

I think that deal could get you Vanek and the 15th, but not Dumba as well
