Since its past july 1st bonuses have been paid
Marner was paid 14 million and his base salary is only 700 K but 10.9 cap hit
Nylander was paid 3.5 million and his base salary is 3.5 million but 6.9 cap hit
Laine is owed 7.5 million this year but his cap hit is 6.75
Connar is owed 8 million this year but his cap hit is 7.125
Leafs would be spending lots of actual cash if this deal happened
Take out the goalies and the cap hits are 17.8 to winnipeg for 13.85 to toronto
That in itself seems like a win. However, toronto pays 15.5 in real money to winnipeg 4.2 real money.
Toronto passes.

Jets say no thanks mainly due to the fact that Anderson is not even close to Helly and Laine and Connor give the Jets a better bang for their buck. Marners $11 mil contract could be a big albatross if the cap stays flat for 3/ 4 years.

1 year on 1 year off. the pattern of hellboy. too bad his off years are getting worse each time and his good years are also regressing.
Not a goalie i care for since he is 1.166 million more than a guy who gets his team just as far in the playoffs. onoy upside to hellboy is he is younger.
3-4 year flat cap. lol. keep dreaming.1 year hiccup due to corona. if you haven't been outside lately things are getting back to normal. stocks are climbing back to normal.
I love how leafs have paid 52 million in bonuses as of july 1st. those contracts are valuable regardless of their cap hit. if you're an owner saving money is more valuable than cap hit. cap hit is just a dump rule for poor owners. next best thing for those poor owners is getting a player who has his year already paid for. business 101. making money trumps all other goals
Prediction time. Laine holds out 2021-22 season.

Craigger12 the Leafs being so wealthy means that this sort od scenario is exactly the type of thing they cab exploit. They can afford to take on bigger cash hits than cap hits, and most pundits believe that they'll use that to thwir advantage this offseason.
Your justification for passing is actually the exact reason they would jump on a situation like this.
I'm not saying I'm in favour of the trade - take out the goalies and I'm not very interested. But the Leafs financial superiority in a cash-strapped league is exactly what could give them an enormous opportunity this offseason, if Dubas can actually find a way to exploit it.
