Edmonton can use those three pieces cheap 2 scoring wingers and right shot defender

You have a good eye in selecting Bennett here, David.

A late round selection who is working out well for Oilers, Bennett is kinda bottom of the pile in Oilers defense. I could see Oilers letting him go for the right price. A big kid that hits a lot, his icetime was increased last year and he did an admirable job on a porous Edmonton team, he would be a good pick up for Leafs.

Oilers might do this deal. I kinda expect them to be shopping around some of the older more expensive players though and holding on to Bennett. If they decide to let Bennett go, this might be a good enough package to entice them.

Benning is young right hand shot and is much bigger than Carrick 204 lbs 6 foot 1. Leafs are not giving up too much here. You can’t have Brown as a 4th line player your just waiting him in that spot. Leafs have Johnson and kapanan that are better than brown plus leafs have the next 4 that are closing in on NHL jobs. Who are they?

Leivo has been passed in depth chart carrick skill set better with oilers more offence he can produce but he is small and I want Sparks more than I need 35 year old Mcbackup

The reason I want Benning he is young and I see upside.

Benning seems like a good target. I'm not sure if Edmonton would want to part with him considering their lack of RHD depth, though overpaying him for could entice them to take it. That being said, you're giving up quite a bit of depth for him. I think both teams might be hesitant to do this, but they could do it.

Edmonton have been reported to be interested in Leivo, Benning is scrappier than Carrick, but it is hard to tell which will be a better D man in the end. 4 players for him seems a bit much, but we do have to dump a goalie before we lose one to waivers.

The thing I like about this trade is that we are dumping contracts. With the exception of Brown, the rest of the guys here aren’t all that productive. A handful of spare parts for a half decent defender is worth it.
