Don't think we will be trading Gardiner or anyone before the season starts, it looks like the lines will be:

Rielly-Ozhiganov
Gardiner-Hainsey
Dermott-Zaitsev
Carrick

That’s an interesting lineup. What makes you think they go with those lines?

I don’t believe that Ozhiganov will play in the top line I think the line may look like this

Rielly Hainsey
Gardiner Zaitzev
Dermott ozhiganov.

These could be the lines, however you don’t know how players like Ozhiganov and Lindholm are going to play until they get here. Examples: Borgman, Rosen, and Aaltonen.

Really? What exactly, does it "look like" that has Ozhiganov on the first pairing?

Ozh will be on the top line not because of his skill, but because he is a physical right shot defenseman that can have good chemistry with Rielly. Ozh can hold his own and can turn into a great pick up. Hainsey will probably play with Gardiner the same reason he played with Rielly last year.

I too would prefer Hainsey to play with Gardiner. It’s very optimistic to think O will play top pairing. Zaitsev was far more renowned when we signed him. However they do play two very different games.

I hope you’re right and we did find a diamond in the rough. Maybe Zaitsev breaks out and earns the spot? Lots of things can happen before the season starts.

That is extremely optimistic. I would even put Zaitsev up there. Have to remember, Zaitsev had a great rookie year, bad 2nd. Does he get back to how he did perform?

Ozhiganov has never played a game in the NHL or on the smaller ice surface.
I wouldn't be penciling him in to my top defensive pairing yet!
