Unless Toronto wins cup or resign Karlsson they lose big
Unless Ottawa resign Panarin or trades him at deadline they give up too much for Zaitsev
Columbus has best chance to resign who they get plus get pick and prospect. win
Montreal is smart to do this deal

I think If the leafs throw another first at Ottawa and a second at Columbus it could work very interesting. There would need to be more added and I don’t think a 4 way could ever work unless it was a hidden 4 way where a team turns around after a 3 way and deals but innovative idea.

It's possible Gardiner could be used to get Trouba though

Pacioretty sorta kinda replaces Panarin. Lol.
Gardiner for Panarin is about all I would want to offer Columbus. Maybe a throw in if they cried for more. They were the ones that put themselves in this situation. We shouldn’t be willing to bail them out.

He copy and pasted the second trade from an article. And now people talk like they know something about LTIR. The idea is to trade the two players who are both on LTIR because Bolland has a smaller cap hit. This would mean the leafs could spend more cap in the summer because they are only allowed to be 10% over the cap in the summer, including players on LTIR. Once the season starts you can’t be over the cap (unless you then put that player on LTIR and the removal of their cap brings you back under ceiling) .
It makes a small amount of sense to do it. But, I don’t think it is worth trading any assets whatsoever. After Nylander is signing we will have around 7 million to spend while staying under the cap. We could spend up to 15m in the summer (7m + 10% over cap) as long as we can be under the cap again before the season starts. Which we can’t. We also have one more year to factor in significant bonus overages. Which will count against this years cap or be carried over. Can’t use LTIR for bonuses.
We’d much rather pay for them this year, before Matthews and Marner are on their next contract. We do have some money to spend while being under cap and covering all of our bonus overages. But we could spend everything and trade for Bolland and make room for two big signing and go all in this year. I don’t like that idea at all and firmly believe they wouldn’t do anything like that.
But, with Pridham steering the cap ship, it’s hard to disagree with anything they do. He knows more about the ins and outs than anyone.

I’m not trying to hate on your trades but you are trading player with absolutely no value and expect a top 4 dman I said it before no one wants Zaitsev he has too many years left on his current deal and especially with him not having the best year last year and Leivo did he even plays game last year? You see where I’m going with this the only thing that has value is the 1st which is a late one.

I think you are offering Anaheim the wrong player. They don’t need Zaitsev. I understand you are making space for Pesce, but I really feel Anaheim would be wanting a quality forward prospect such as Kapanen instead of a lukewarm sophomore defenseman like Zaitsev.
Im all for the LTIR trade to get Horton off the books a year earlier. Helps when we have to sign Marner and Matthews next year.

Yes, No and No. First, we don't have 2 1st round picks to trade away. The Anaheim deal is great, not sure they do it. The 2nd deal is terrible, The Leafs are not trading away Sparks, he is the insurance if they need to move on from Andersen in a few years. And for Horton's contract, I get it, but the Leafs can eat the contract last year and pay someone in the offseason to unload the final year.
