4 way trade

Montreal gets:

Toronto Prospect

Columbus gets:

Toronto pick
Ottawa prospects

Ottawa gets:

Toronto gets:

1.) 24 Jul 2018 22:04:02
Too many teams involved plus we can’t afford Karlsson and there’s no point in having him for a rental.

2.) 24 Jul 2018 22:08:06
We can’t afford Karlsson.

3.) 24 Jul 2018 22:08:29
And Ottawa would want at least 2 first round picks.

4.) 25 Jul 2018 00:10:27
its a good idea. very outside box thinking.

if 4 way deals ever happen this one is worth talking about at least.

After season is over and free agents possibly move on what's left is

Montreal gets leafs prospect for no one
Columbus gets Toronto pick and and Ottawa prospect (s) for no one
Ottawa gets Zaitsev for prospect (s)
Toronto gives up a pick and prospect for no one

Unless Toronto wins cup or resign Karlsson they lose big
Unless Ottawa resign Panarin or trades him at deadline they give up too much for Zaitsev
Columbus has best chance to resign who they get plus get pick and prospect. win
Montreal is smart to do this deal

In closing, that was fun to analyze and put a good spin on making a deal. so thankyou for that thought

Risky with possible reward for some and no brainer for others

Any one else have fun trades like these please do tell.

5.) 25 Jul 2018 01:09:20
Would rather have Panarin. Younger and a little cheaper.

6.) 25 Jul 2018 04:15:11
I think If the leafs throw another first at Ottawa and a second at Columbus it could work very interesting. There would need to be more added and I don’t think a 4 way could ever work unless it was a hidden 4 way where a team turns around after a 3 way and deals but innovative idea.

Leafs lock up trouba 8 years 6 million
Compensation of 1st and 3rd

Toronto: Panarin
Montreal: Gardiner
Columbus: Pacioretty, Levio, Moore

1.) 22 Jul 2018 18:15:58
You can't offer sheet Trouba anymore as he went to arbitration.

2.) 22 Jul 2018 18:29:39
I like your thought process here. However, I truely don't feel Montreal wants Gardiner.

It's possible Gardiner could be used to get Trouba though

If your deals went the way you offered, the Leafs would be cup favourites.

22 Jul 2018 00:10:26
The only trade I would do for panarin.

Toronto: Panarin

Montreal: Gardiner

Columbus: Pacioretty, 2019 2nd (TOR), Marchment

Then trade Marleau to San Jose in the 2019 draft retain if needed.

1.) 22 Jul 2018 15:34:43
A three way trade of pending UFA’s is an interesting thought.

Pacioretty sorta kinda replaces Panarin. Lol.

Gardiner for Panarin is about all I would want to offer Columbus. Maybe a throw in if they cried for more. They were the ones that put themselves in this situation. We shouldn’t be willing to bail them out.

2 Trades

Anaheim: Manson, 2019 2nd,

Toronto: Zaitsev, 2019 1st, Levio, Carrick

Arizona: Bolland

Toronto: Horton, 2019 4th

1.) 19 Jul 2018 20:04:17
Everyone needs to stop trading Horton. He is a key part of this core. But seriously, trading him makes zero sense.

2.) 19 Jul 2018 20:53:42
It actually does make sense for next year. read up on how LTIR works.

3.) 19 Jul 2018 21:07:38
No way Anaheim trades their second best defencemen for Zaitzev and a 1st.

4.) 19 Jul 2018 23:41:06
Leafs 1994 hates prospects and top 9 forwards and think they hold no value, don’t listen to him.

5.) 19 Jul 2018 23:42:57
Horton needs to go by by, I accept any trade with him in it.

6.) 20 Jul 2018 00:23:41
Nice to fantasize about but can't see Murray doing something like this.

7.) 20 Jul 2018 02:52:39
He copy and pasted the second trade from an article. And now people talk like they know something about LTIR. The idea is to trade the two players who are both on LTIR because Bolland has a smaller cap hit. This would mean the leafs could spend more cap in the summer because they are only allowed to be 10% over the cap in the summer, including players on LTIR. Once the season starts you can’t be over the cap (unless you then put that player on LTIR and the removal of their cap brings you back under ceiling) .

It makes a small amount of sense to do it. But, I don’t think it is worth trading any assets whatsoever. After Nylander is signing we will have around 7 million to spend while staying under the cap. We could spend up to 15m in the summer (7m + 10% over cap) as long as we can be under the cap again before the season starts. Which we can’t. We also have one more year to factor in significant bonus overages. Which will count against this years cap or be carried over. Can’t use LTIR for bonuses.

We’d much rather pay for them this year, before Matthews and Marner are on their next contract. We do have some money to spend while being under cap and covering all of our bonus overages. But we could spend everything and trade for Bolland and make room for two big signing and go all in this year. I don’t like that idea at all and firmly believe they wouldn’t do anything like that.

But, with Pridham steering the cap ship, it’s hard to disagree with anything they do. He knows more about the ins and outs than anyone.

8.) 20 Jul 2018 05:23:30

I’m not trying to hate on your trades but you are trading player with absolutely no value and expect a top 4 dman I said it before no one wants Zaitsev he has too many years left on his current deal and especially with him not having the best year last year and Leivo did he even plays game last year? You see where I’m going with this the only thing that has value is the 1st which is a late one.

9.) 20 Jul 2018 13:31:28
The only reason Leivo didn’t play is because of leafs depth and Matt Martin protecting the young guys, otherwise he is a top 9 forward.

10 Jul 2018 00:18:21
Three Trades:

Toronto gets: Manson, 2nd pick

Anaheim gets: Zaitsev, 1st pick, Levio, Timashov, Gauthier

Toronto gets: Pesce, 6th pick

Carolina gets: Brown, Sparks, 1st pick, Borgman, 4th pick

Toronto gets: Bolland, Kruger

Arizona gets: Horton, Carrick

1.) 10 Jul 2018 05:33:28
Where did the extra 1st round pick come from that we we’re able to trade a 1st in each deal?

I think you are offering Anaheim the wrong player. They don’t need Zaitsev. I understand you are making space for Pesce, but I really feel Anaheim would be wanting a quality forward prospect such as Kapanen instead of a lukewarm sophomore defenseman like Zaitsev.

Im all for the LTIR trade to get Horton off the books a year earlier. Helps when we have to sign Marner and Matthews next year.

2.) 10 Jul 2018 13:39:25
Yes, No and No. First, we don't have 2 1st round picks to trade away. The Anaheim deal is great, not sure they do it. The 2nd deal is terrible, The Leafs are not trading away Sparks, he is the insurance if they need to move on from Andersen in a few years. And for Horton's contract, I get it, but the Leafs can eat the contract last year and pay someone in the offseason to unload the final year.

3.) 10 Jul 2018 18:30:59
sorry for the trade 2, I meant our 2nd instead of the 1st.

I don’t like the idea of trading gardiner while pursuing the cup, unless you can get a better defensemen. I would take the first trade because bracco could take his spot eventually.

Your very funny. Maybe try to make a trade that doesn’t involve winnipeg, because from where I stand you look a winnipeg fan and fine your a winnipeg fan but don’t make bad trades like that.

These could be the lines, however you don’t know how players like Ozhiganov and Lindholm are going to play until they get here. Examples: Borgman, Rosen, and Aaltonen.
