TOR: JVR(% to match), Gardiner, T. Moore, cond 2019 1st(2nd if JVR extends or re-signs with Dallas)

DAL: Seguin, Johns, cond 2nd(3rd if JVR extends or re-signs with Dallas)

Dallas needs a top LW, and a 2nd pair LHD, much more than they need Seguin.

The Leafs get a center for Marner and a solid 3rd pair RHD.

Why on earth would Dallas do this?

No way Dallas is trading one of the most underrated elite player in the league.

Add bracco liljegren dermott and another first and maybe dallas listens. I wouldn't want to offer this package but it is what it would take to land seguin.

Dallas is not trading their number 1 center. That's almost like the Leafs trading matthews.

He's already been traded once for much less.

He, Peverley, and Button

for

L. Eriksson, Morrow, Smith, and Fraser

All B players, except for Peverley, Eriksson (long past his better days and now in Vancouver) and Smith (a good player but not a difference maker- now in Vegas) .

Goatson:
Are you kidding me? "The most under rated center"? That's about the most retarded thing I've ever heard on this site. Everyone knows exactly where he rates. It's no secret!

Randy:
Seriously? Give up half a team for one center? Have you even looked at any deals made in the last 5 years? Look at the chump change Ottawa gave up for Duchene. Please don't babble out the regular garbage of everything and the kitchen sink. That's just not realistic. And there's these things called the cap and contract limits.

Marner11:
Seguin is nowhere near what Matthews will become. And he's a free agent in a year and a half. He was 15th in scoring as a seasoned pro and Matthews was only 3 pts behind in his "1st year". And Matthews didn't have Jamie Benn. Seguin was misused in his first year by the Bruins and he only had 22 pts.

ScaryD:
Because they need a scoring LHD, and a 2nd top LW. That's why. It's obvious. Hamphuis is 35 and getting slower every day. The rest are terrible except for Methot who old and injured.

They are going to be hard pressed to make the playoffs this year. It's about to get harder for them.

That's fine it's simply your opinion. But bottom line Stars would be stupid to trade their number 1 center for a 2nd line LW who has 1 year left (not even an ounce close to Seguin), an Offencive d man who can't defend 1 on 1 and conditional pick with a prospect who will never make it. And stars also add too? Just because Seguin was traded for last in the past doesn't mean it's going to happen again.

What’s obvious is that by trading your number 1 center, you NO LONGER HAVE A NUMBER 1 CENTER. Your proposal isn’t well thought out. Plain and simple. Using a terrible previous trade doesn’t strengthen your position, in fact, it shows how far off base you are.

Good enough points gentlemen, but he's not a #1 center, he just plays that on the Stars because there is no one else as Spezza is about done. Just like Bozak played on the 1st line all those years.

We'll see what happens next year, and whether GM's will be offering him 10-12M.

Seriously doubt it.

He may not be a #1 Center, but still delivers elite level offence and he will get paid for that. Maybe not $10-$12M but probably in the $8-$10M range. As well, Dallas is a fringe playoff team at the moment and will more than likely be buyers rather than sellers and don't try to tell me they can turn around and flip JVR, teams rarely make deadline trades to turn around and flip them. Seguin ain't going anywhere!

Seguin is most certainly a first line center and has improved a lot since he was first traded, your points are terrible. To get someone like seguin would cost marner or nylander picks and prospects.

Cheekl97:

He was obtained for much less when his value was even higher. You like a lot of others, over rate him. He's a good 2nd line center, that's it. When you take him away from Benn his point total will plummet.

AM34: Who said it has to be a deadline trade. And yes flipping occurs occasionally - they manifest as 3-way deals which by contract legalities are 2 2-way deals or depending on the complexity 3 2-way deals.

Micheal Leighton was obtained and moved by the Yotes within a month.

So don't tell me this doesn't happen. Seguin may not go anywhere, but he already has in the past, from the Leafs to the Bruins, to the Stars, Hamilton from the Leafs to the Bruins to the Flames.
