Offer sheet Colton Parayko

6 years 39 million, 6.5per

Compensation is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd

St Louis might match but would be very hard pressed with the cap to do so.

Great idea.

offering sheeting could really piss off some GMs, however maybe the threat of an offer sheet could make a deal for Parayko more possible. A 1st, 3rd and Kappanen maybe.

I would love it if the Leafs could work this out. But Shattenkirk was already ruled out because he wanted similar type long term contract that the Leafs can't afford to commit to with upcoming raises for Brown, Hymen, Nylander, Marner and Matthews.
But hey Lou is a stud.

Parayko and shattenkirk are apples and oranges.

Of course, but I'm not talkin about their style of play I'm talking about their contracts.

Parayko is a potential number 1 d. That's what I mean by apples and oranges. shattenkirk is purely offensive. parayko plays in all situations. I'm sure Lou would happily lock up parayko long term.

I like the idea but that compensation is really high.

I thing the Blues will sign Colton before seasons end.

Lou can make an offer sheet for Pokka (or the threat of one before the edraft) . Chicago won't be able to match, so might opt for a deal where Lou can offer much less than normal) . Pokka is not exempt and there are 3 NMC already on the defence. The Hawks have to move Pokka (even without the e draft due to cap reasons) .

TOR: Wong (RW), Desrocher (LHD)

CHI: Pokka (RHD)

Definitely a low-ball offer, but Chicago doesn't have a lot of choices. The only moveable high priced player they have is Panarin whom they protected with a two year 6M deal. They are currently 4M over the cap.

Of course the same thing could happen to Connor Brown, and Zack Hyman, but the Leafs have the resources to match any offer. If the offer for Brown or Hyman is ridiculously high then they just take the bevy of picks.

Only Carolina, the Leafs, the Devils, and Dallas have the opening for a 2nd pair Dman and cap space available. Those are the teams to watch for.

My bad. Replace Desrocher with Middleton.

Desrocher, Korostelev, and Herzog had their Leafs rights run out, for zero return by the Leafs.

first "offering sheeting" isn't a thing. Second why is a 2nd round pick more valuable than Kapanen.

Shattenkirk is significantly older than Parayko so your point is null and void.

Signing Brown or Hyman is a significantly lower priority than signing a number 1 RHD so "saving" those dollars for them is irrelevant.

The deal is similar to the one of Blues Captain Pietrangelo.

The salary cap will rise and the leafs will shed some hefty contracts by the time the big three need long term deals.

So the real question is whether a #1 RHD is worth a 1st,2nd,3rd in a weak draft.

Id say yes. Especially given the fact that unfortunately Bozie and JVR may be on the outs which would surpass the picks paid out.
