This comment is a little longer and highly speculative, but stay with me here... With these names floating around and the actual cap savings it would create, I loved hearing you talk on a previous episode about the prospect of Conor Garland and Darcy Kuemper for the organization.
I'm a die hard Andersen fan, but this window for the team is as open as it has been since '93.
• The Coyotes, although in a playoff spot desperately need to restock their cupboards after a train wreck couple of years.
• Slide Garland in with Matthews and Marner to play a VERY comparable role.
• Reunite Hyman with the amazingly powerful 3rd line.
•Kuemper (although just as injury proned) saves $500K against the cap for next year and has vastly superior numbers than Andersen but you can also expose him to the expansion draft if they feel Jack is the goalie of the future.
• Garland is an RFA making $775K, which, if it doesn't work out, trade his rights to The Kracken and have them select Martin Marincin or someone dumpable.
This seems to check the boxes in my mind. Am I missing something here?

I like both targets a lot. Have posted trades for them a few times as well.
Garland especially is a guy I would target.

I really like the pieces here. Bernier has proven reliable for a terrible Wings team and Mantha is wasting his prime years there.
The only problem I see is that the Leafs will be on the hook for 3 more years with a 5.5M AAV. The only way it could work is to somehow talk Yzerman into retaining a large chunk for that duration.
With Hyman and another goaltender to re-sign/ sign this off-season and Reilly next, I would like to see them save space for that.
