The leafs have much more top end talent than Buffalo. If you look top 5 players on each team the leafs top 5 could lead them to a cup

I just think Buffalo have too much money in players that can't lead them anywhere

In this I have given nylamder 10 million that's his highest level. Even on the open market he can't get much more than $10 million

I was looking at Buffalo when Power signed as well. I came to the complete opposite conclusion. Buffalo signed their top 2 D for 7 years, making a reasonable amount. Thompson is a stud making 7.1. The only gripe I could have is Skinner, but he isn't useless, just overpaid.

LL, I’m drawing the exact same conclusion.
Buffalo have some good talent and to have these 5 locked at $42m is a bargain.
Not to mention Tuch, Olosson and Krebs.
If Buffalo learn to play defence better they will be a force.

If Powers plays up to his potential, that'll be another great contract. If Levi plays well for them too, they could be really good really soon.

Let’s not forget that Skinner was given that outrageous $9 million dollar contract by previous and now long gone Buffalo management.
Sabres are stuck with that contract for 3more years after this season.
The rest of the money seems well spent!

Except for the Dahlin contract, the others look like they could all end up gems. I don't count Skinner, because his goes back a ways.

@RLF with the cap going up, I'd make that bet on Dahlin as well.

Other than Skinner, I don't think they have a bad contract.

As everyone says, it was previous management.

Are we also all forgetting he's coming of of two 30+ goal seasons?

He had 35 goals and 80+ points last year. That's a 7.5-8m player. I'd say he's overpaid, but he's stepped it up the last two years.

@LL. Dahlin's $11M may be fine if he keeps progressing but unlike the others, I don't think it will ever be a gem of a contract. I don't count Skinner because this management didn't sign him. I think Addams deserves a lot of credit considering few really WANTS to play in Buffalo.
