So just read this as I’m sure many of you have.

Knies to Chicago for top four pick this year along with interest in Reilly, so how about

Tor: Knies Reilly

Chi: top four pick Vlasic 2nd

If Leafs retain on Morgan maybe another mid pick comes in. I think Chicago comes out slightly ahead so I would expect a retention.

So an unproven player although drafted top five they should be pretty dam good but still. For Mathew Knies a 23yr old Unicorn Beast that is only getting better plus has 3 yrs to go to hit his prime? He’s 23! Only 3/4yrs older than the kid we draft.

I’m not sure, I mean I get the allure with potentially 2 exceptional players from the top five from this year, plus a 2nd and a 3rd from a deep draft. Not sold on it tho. Kinda think we build around Knies.

Thank you for talking sense Henry!!! I do not get these people that keep trading Knies. Mathews, Nylander and Mo is what should be leaving, not our 23 year old unicorn (as Henry put it). We need to change the culture and identity of this team.

Do we really think trading Knies is the way to do it? Or the guys that have set this culture over the past decade? I get everyone has an opinion but why Knies??

@ Clarky. The reason Knies' name always comes up is because he literally is the only player of any real value that is tradeable (No trade restrictions). The team is handcuffed in that regard. Sad state we are in that way.

If Chicago's first round pick is to 2 and Leafs stay in top 5 why wouldn’t you make this trade and they wouldn’t have to retain on Reilly cause they have a boat load of cap space to take on his contract. You get elite left winger in McKenna or Stenberg to replace Knies.

Then u get your top RD with your own pick. I would say add a 1st rd 2027 as they have 3 of them plus the 2nd and Vlasic. It sounds like a good haul plus you have just opened up 15.25m in cap space.

Clarky thank you sir! I’m definitely with you. Champ, I do get your thought process 100% still, Knies is still so young himself and what we’ve been looking for for so long. I just don’t think we go and trade that just to look for it later. I do however think May 5th could dictate the outcome.

We fall out of the top 5 I could see the Leafs pulling the trigger on a Knies trade. We stay in the top five even get graced by the hockey gods and end up top 3 I think Knies stays. Unless as CKps stated it is a massive over payment, if not we stand pat.

@ckps1976 That is not realistic. Teams are looking to try to find a balance trading a need for a need. If there is a teams G.M that knowingly willingly grossly over pays for a player, If I am the owner I am not firing him. I am taking him to the back 40 and having a good old fashioned hanging.

Hopeful comeback?? You r talking getting a guy like McKenna. If Leafs pick lands in top 5 now u have 2 that's crazy. McKenna is a left winger which has more potential than Knies did at his current age. You guys can’t be serious. Like I said if they add another 1st rd pick for 2027 on top of the original post. It’s a good deal.
