Andersson is a top pair RD that plays 24 mins a night, plays in all situations, plays a hard game, puts up points, is only 27 and signed for 2 more seasons on a great contract.
I think you are more looking at Cowan, Liljegren and a 1st at minimum with no retention.

Andersen is Calgary's best defenseman, with hannifin just behind. Not sure where you get that he's not worth a 1st in the low to mid 20's.

Anderson is not only better than Hanifin but he is a RHD, a position of need for the Leafs while Hanifin is a LHD a poison Leafs have reasonably well covered at the moment.

Legend. Timmins is a 25 year old D-man who has not been able to take a regular role in the NHL and has an injury history. He doesn't have much value. So Robertson and a 3rd doesn't get a top 4 Dman with term. Tanev just got a 2nd, a really good 20 year old prospect and a possible 3rd and he's older than Larsson and a pending UFA.
I'd like to get Larsson, just don't think this does it.

After watching the chemistry Matthews and Keller had it's a no brainer. He's tired of being in Arizona. You replace Domi with bjustad 3c and Durzi replaces Brodie. Keefe isn't going to use Robertson as much as he should which is unfortunate so give him a chance somewhere else. Oh ya fire keefe get berube. Only trade that needs to happen. Goalies are fine once Woll returns. If Samsonov keeps playing like he has u don't need a goalie u r fine with him Woll and Jones. Money works coming in and going out.

Nylander for keller was the no brainer. now I can see Arizona just getting his best bud keifer bellows.
Bellows scored 50 Keller got most of the assists while Joey Anderson was there go getter dirt grinder and that was pure magic at us program.
Thought Keats had something up their sleeves once I learned they got bellows on marlies
Matthews centering those 2 yes please. Leaving marner with Tavares and Bertuzzi. But it’s not gonna happen now.

I believe you leave well enough alone. Wait till the summer and u resign Benoit, liljegren, Gregor, McMann, Robertson, Jones. Everyone else you let walk. You will have a lot of cap space to fill in holes. You take a run at UFAS to fill in the gaps left by bertuzzi, domi, Brodie, Samsonov, etc. lots of good ufas available this summer. With all the LTIR coming off the books as well the cap going up the leafs will have $24mil to spend. A lot of wiggle room to make good ufa signings. Don't sacrifice your only first round pick for a rental or your prospects.
Only move if make is seeing if someone is willing to take reaves off your hands throw in a sweetener like a 5th or 6th rd pic to go with him. If not bury him in the all like you did Clifford and get that little cap relief by doing it. You r not winning the cup this year so no reason to give up futures for a pipe dream.

I do support using free agency as a means to add targeted upgrades without losing important assets.
Also picking up possible improvements in the KHL and SHL is an avenue to pursue.
Agree on Benoit, Liligren, McMann and Robertson but I don’t resign Gregor. He’s a strong skater with some grit but there’s a reason SJS didn’t qualify him and now we know it.
If you’re not resigning Samsonov or Bert why not get something back at TDL?
Having said that Bert finally showed something last night! Stick on the ice and two hands on the stick he was ready to bang home rebounds or passes.
He scored 3 from a total of 5 feet. This is what the Leafs have been expecting and wanting. It finally happened 70% into the season!

@Legend74 completely agree, Keefe needs to go, plain and simple.
I would love Quennville, but that's probably not going to happen.
I'm not to sure on Berube to be honest.
I would go after Gallant. He's proven to get result when first coming into a new situation.
I think Keefe has lost the room, plus he has no answers. His only go to is to run his stars to the ground by playing them 25+ minutes, so they are exhausted last minute of the games. And they will definitely burn out once playoffs come around.

Keefe is the problem here not the players.
Only mistake treliving made here is extending him b4 season started. Hes clueless at putting lines together. He didn't even attempt one game with Willy at centre it's a joke. Tavares is a winger this point in his career. If not Willy then try Domi he's played that position b4. He loves to criticize all his players but he should really look in the mirror. He had Minten on the opening roster when he had no business being there. 19yrs old and no where near the nhl calibre ready player like a Bedard or Fantilli. Kids back at WHL. Tells u something about his lack of being able to evaluate players. Preseason is totally different then regular season guys may shine there cause most nights they r playing against minor leaguers. I still believe Robertson should be up. If not to help st least showcase the guy for a trade.

I am not really a fan of Keefe. Whether he preaches it or not, he can't seem to get his players to buy into a pack mentality. So, that's on him. If he can't get them to buy in, then he should be going to management and saying these guys just don't have it in them or are not willing, so we need to make a move.
The rest I don't agree a lot with. Willy is a winger imo. Plays like one and is most effective on the wing. Tavares has looked like he has turned back the clock a bit. I can't imagine complaining about his play this year. Only complaint I really have on JT is he needs to learn from what Stamkos did in Tampa and get into more a scrappy style of play. I think Minten earned his spot. There was no harm in giving the kid a shot. Needed to see if what he did in pre-season could translate. 4 games helps his development and didn't really hurt the team. Robertson is right where he belongs imo. He needs to show he can be a point per game+ player in the AHL and stay healthy. He had 5 points in his first two games. He has slowed a bit with 4 in his last 6 and is still a -3 5on5. The guy has been injured so much there is no way to know what he really is because there are so few games to evaluate by.

Nylander is definitely better placed on the wing because he doesn’t have strong D skills.
Tavares is quicker this year and still earns C-ice for me.
Also think giving Minten a shot made sense.
One big problem is total lack of scoring in bottom6.
McCabe being out has hurt.
You guys know how I feel about Bertuzzi; he still looks lost and ineffective.
I’d honestly try Domi in place of Jarnkrok and, of course, Klingberg needs to learn D and be better offensively.

You r deep in forwards once jarnkrok is back plus u have Gregor as a healthy scratch which I would be playing over reaves all day long, so u don’t need to replace Robertson. U don’t trade lily.
