A $85 MM LINEUP for 2019/20. Trade Zaitsev or Marleau, and under the cap you go. By trading Marleau LW is deeper and the defense is stronger. Slightly weaker up the 3C middle. Maybe that is where Gagner comes into play.

First OF ALL this is for the 2019/ 20, as this year we are under the cap.

Next year they are predicting the Salary Cap will be between $82 MM and $86 MM without the player's inflator.

Than the following year Marleau will be a non issue and the cap will increase due to the new NHL Team. - Seattle, which will add an additional 7 to 10 MM per team at a $500 MM expansion fee.

I understand the year. But u don't spend to the limit. Makes no sense. U need room for injuries. Additions. And so on and so on. This won't be the way they will proceed. They will spend to around $78m so players have to go. But guess we shall see.

Marleau has no trade clause. Hopefully he agrees to go back to San Jose but if not, $10m in savings will need to be found. Gardiner going would be $6m. $4m to go.


Someone help me out here. The inflator and the escrow account can keep the cap from going up as much as 5% when u combine the impact. I believe I understand it but who here knows it 100%.

Lindholm is better than Gagner. When he was traded from Arizona, the GM states explicitly the reason for trading Gagner is because he can’t play center. 5 NHL teams in 5 years and now back in the AHL again for the second time in three years. Gagner sucks.

Kadri for Pesce seems about right. Which means the rest of what you are offering for Teravainen is not enough. Without bringing in a replacement for Kadri, I don’t think this deal happens. Matthews injury just highlights once again go shallow our depth at C is. I really hope Leafs focus on drafting and developing centers the next couple years. Once Kadri’s contract is up, I have a hard time seeing us re-signing him. And center is still our weakest position behind RHD. We only got lucky signing Tavares to really bolster us in that position. If he didn’t come here, we might have been stuck with Bozak or Stastny. Neither of whom I consider all that good.
